Chapter 486 The Truth About the Marriage
Someone was definitely pulling strings behind the scenes! Anna had a hunch it was either Giuseppe or Katherine.
"Let's bounce, Sara," she said.
"Sweet! Anna, this is awesome! No baby drama," Sara was more hyped than Anna.
Sara added, "You had to ditch Mr. Vittorio 'cause of the baby before, but now that there's no baby, you can get back with him."
Anna's eyes stayed icy. She'd already hurt Giorgio, and he probably wouldn't forgive her. Plus, her reason for coming back to Crownhaven wasn't exactly innocent. Once he found out, he'd be pissed.
Them being together was a pipe dream now.
That evening, Sara was all smiles, putting medicine on Anna, hoping she'd heal up fast. She totally spaced on the most important thing. Next morning, while scrolling through the news, she stumbled on the big headline of the day. [Giorgio Vittorio & Katherine Stefanelli Are Getting Their Marriage Certificate.]
Turned out, they never got the marriage certificate when they tied the knot. A few days ago, Giorgio posted on Instagram: [Due to some reasons, I didn't get a marriage certificate with Katherine. We'll get it in a few days.]
Sara thought it might bum Anna out when she saw the news on the plane, so she kept it to herself. But now, she had to spill the beans!
"Anna, get your butt in gear and call Mr. Vittorio."
Anna just stepped out of the bathroom. Hearing Sara's rambling, she was curious. "What's up?"
She was planning to call Giorgio, but wasn't ready yet.
Sara walked over with her phone, saying, "Check it out, Mr. Vittorio is getting his marriage certificate today!"
'Marriage certificate? He and Katherine haven't gotten it yet?' Anna thought. She was shocked and curious. She looked at the trending topic and saw Giorgio's explanation and the Instagram post from a few days ago. The date was the day she left Crownhaven.
He announced it then to cut ties completely.
'So, he's moved on. My apology and attempts to fix things are pointless,' Anna thought.
"What are you standing around for? You gotta go!" Sara pushed her into the wheelchair, not giving up. "It was just a misunderstanding. You can't miss this chance. And Katherine might be the one who killed your grandma and caused the car accident. You gonna let her get away with it?"
No way. Anna definitely didn't want that.
Before, Giorgio didn't back Katherine, so she had a shot at revenge. But if Giorgio backed her and gave her protection, Anna had no chance against such a powerful couple.
"Push me over." Anna forced out the words. After deciding, she anxiously pulled out her phone and dialed Giorgio's number.
A cold voice came from the phone. "Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
She quickly sent a message on WhatsApp: [Mr. Vittorio, I need to talk to you!]
Before she could type more, a small message popped up. She realized she'd been blocked by Giorgio.
He really wanted to cut her off completely. Anna's heart ached, like an invisible hand was squeezing it, making it hard to breathe. Leaving was her choice, but now she was the one who couldn't move on.
The City Hall was swarmed with fans and reporters. Fans wanted a glimpse of Giorgio's killer looks, and reporters wanted to know why they didn't get a marriage certificate before!
The road was totally jammed.
"No way in." Sara pushed Anna, super worried!
It was already ten o'clock, and Giorgio had mentioned it would be in the morning. If they couldn't get in, it was game over!
Sitting in the wheelchair, Anna felt like a ton of bricks was weighing her down. Even though she had no right to apologize and ask him to stay, she still regretted her actions back then.
Suddenly, a familiar figure caught her eye. Her gaze locked on. "Sara, push me over there, quick."
Sara looked where Anna pointed. A tall, noble figure was walking through a deserted path. She immediately put some muscle into it and pushed Anna over.
"Mr. Shawn."
Enrico stopped and turned. The moment he saw Anna, his sharp eyes turned cold. "What are you doing here?"
If he remembered right, Giorgio had said she left Crownhaven, and they were done.
Anna anxiously asked, "I'm here to find Mr. Vittorio. His phone's unreachable, and he blocked me on WhatsApp. Mr. Shawn, do you know where he is? Can you take me to him?"
Hearing that, Enrico let out a cold laugh and walked over to Anna. "Miss Stefanelli, since you chose to leave Giorgio, you have no right to come back. Giorgio isn't someone you can mess with whenever you feel like it."
He continued, "I told you before, if you can't handle it, don't get involved. Now Giorgio is following your wishes, making the best choice. You shouldn't get involved again. Ms. Stefanelli, please have some decency and let everything go back to how it was."
Each sharp word made Anna's face pale, leaving her speechless.
Back then, Enrico had told her, for Giorgio's sake, she should either leave or do her best to be with him. But she did neither, and her actions were disappointing.
Enrico was right; she had no right.
"Miss Stefanelli, do you know why Giorgio didn't get a marriage certificate back then?" Enrico suddenly changed the topic.
Anna frowned. Wasn't it due to various reasons?
Before she could answer, Enrico said, "Giorgio never intended to marry Katherine. He arranged an attack to disrupt the wedding, but called the attack off because you suddenly barged in, to protect you. You don't deserve his protection and concern."
Hearing that, Anna was completely blown away.
He was already so considerate of her back then! And she was still involved with Simon then!
Anna's mind was a mess, and she sat in the wheelchair, stunned and speechless.
Sara watched Enrico leave, equally shocked. She had always said Giorgio was a great guy and told Anna to seize the opportunity and cherish him. But she didn't expect him to be this good! For Anna, he didn't hesitate to mess up his marriage.
Sara exclaimed, "No wonder Mr. Vittorio was so proactive at that wedding, making people jealous. I said before, Mr. Vittorio and Katherine didn't have such a good relationship, how could it suddenly become so good. Turns out it was because of you, not Katherine!"
She added, "Right, I remember most clearly that when the priest asked if he was willing to marry Katherine, Mr. Vittorio didn't answer, he just kissed her! Do you know how mad I was! I wanted to post on Instagram and tell Mr. Vittorio that Katherine wasn't the mother of his child at all!"
Sara wouldn't stop talking as she continued, "But now it seems, Mr. Vittorio wasn't being romantic, he was refusing to acknowledge marrying Katherine! Mr. Vittorio is so humble. He clearly likes you, protects you, but still has to be misunderstood by you."
