Chapter 284 Mr. Vittorio Likes You

"Holy cow! Mr. Vittorio? It was Mr. Vittorio?"

Sara was incredulous, and the next second, she became extremely excited, "What did Mr. Vittorio do to you? Things have heated up so quickly between you two. That's intense!"

"...Is that what you call intense?"

Anna gave Sara a helpless look, "Let's skip this topic, okay?"

"How can we skip over this? It's such a crucial detail; aren't you going to share it with me? Am I still your best friend, or what? Come on, just tell me, how far did things go between you two? If you don't spill, curiosity will kill me."

Sara was both insistent and coquettish.

Anna felt like she was listening to a chirpy sparrow, all too familiar with Sara's persistence.

With resignation, she replied, "It's not what you think. He got angry at the news, and... he insulted me."

“Insulted.”

That word was too heavy.

Sara's joy faded, "You mean Mr. Vittorio... he forced himself?"

"Umm." Anna neither confirmed nor denied, recalling the earlier scene left her feeling disturbed.

Sara hadn't expected this turn of events.

"Mr. Vittorio acting that way means he loves you!" Sara exclaimed.

‘What? Love? Impossible!’

Anna responded irritably, "Love my ass. Can love be an excuse to humiliate someone? Can you stop spouting nonsense? A man like him doesn't even know the meaning of love."

"No, seriously," Sara insisted, guiding Anna to sit on the couch with a stern look, "You covered the news for Katherine. Mr. Vittorio thought you were the one in the report, which is why he got uncontrollably angry, right?"

"...Yeah..." Indeed, that was the case.

"See? That's what I'm talking about! Mr. Vittorio is angry, he cares, he's jealous—that's why he lost control. If he didn't care about you, didn't like you, he wouldn't react at all to whatever you do with whoever. Believe me, if it had really been Katherine, he would've reacted entirely differently."

Sara's unwavering conviction struck Anna as she mulled over her words. They seemed reasonable, but the idea of Giorgio liking her felt utterly impossible, not even remotely plausible.

"You're surely aware that men are creatures of extreme possessiveness, right? Even if they throw away clothes they don't want, they would still be displeased to see someone else picking them up and wearing them with joy. So, let's just drop this pointless conversation," Anna declared in denial.

"Psh, you don't believe a word I say. Fine, don't believe it. I'm off to bed. We'll talk more in the morning."

"All right, goodnight," Anna conceded.

After Sara went upstairs, Anna looked around the house for some first aid ointment but couldn't find any, so she reluctantly applied toothpaste to the area instead before going to sleep.

Lying in bed, her mind was restless.

Was it really unlikely that he was angry because he liked her? Not to mention Giorgio's numerous amorous entanglements. Let's not forget that she was Katherine's sister—it was simply impossible for him to like her.

His possessiveness definitely drove tonight's episode.

Yes, that must be it.

Anna covered herself with the blanket and drifted off to sleep.

The following day, excruciating pain shot through her limbs and woke her from her sleep.

What was happening? She hadn't felt injured after jumping out of the car last night, so why was it so painful this morning?

Sitting up, she lifted her arms to check but couldn't find any obvious wounds. Early morning hallucinations, maybe?

"Mommy!" her daughter's crying suddenly pierced the air.

Anna immediately put aside her discomfort and looked toward the door to see her little girl coming in with a pout, rushing over to her.

"What's wrong, my sweet baby?"

Penny spoke through sobs and annoyance, "Mommy, why did you choose that uncle? I don't like him! I don't want that uncle!"

Her dislike was so intense that she was crying while flailing her arms in a tantrum, on the verge of a meltdown.

Anna was at a loss for words. How could she explain this to her little girl?

"Penny, it's not what you're thinking."

"What's that about? Mommy, can you just cut him out of our lives right this instant? I don't want him, I hate him, and I don't agree to letting him be my future daddy!"

After her tearful outburst, the little girl began searching for a cellphone on Anna's person. She was resolute, displaying a determination quite unlike her demeanor around Giorgio and Simon. It seemed a child's instincts were often spot-on.

Anna, feeling helpless, picked up Penny, "Shh, don't cry, honey. Mommy won't let him be your future daddy."

"Really?"

"Mhm, pinky promise, a hundred years’ guarantee, he won’t be."

"No, pinky promises from adults don't count. You have to swear, if you let him be my future daddy, you'll lose your little cutie forever!"

That oath was a bit extreme, wasn’t it?

Fortunately, Anna truly had no feelings for Giuseppe, and she nodded, "All right, my precious little one, Mommy promises you. Is that okay?"

"Mmm-hmm."

It took Anna all morning to finally soothe her little girl.

On the other side of town, the situation at Giorgio's private villa was no better.

It was already nine o'clock, a full half-hour past the time Giorgio was supposed to be at his company. Yet Charlie was still in front of the computer, causing a fuss and refusing breakfast, "It’s impossible. The person in the video isn't Anna. Anna said she was going back to find someone just like Penny in my heart. The uncle isn't the one. Anna lied!"

"This isn't true. It absolutely can't be true."

He was in complete denial.

Giorgio stood nearby with a stern and somber expression, glancing at his wristwatch, "You're already an hour late for school. How much longer are you going to carry on? Besides, wasting your own time over someone else's issues is pretty foolish."

Charlie has always been quite emotional, especially concerning Anna.

He spun around, his dark, angry eyes glaring at Giorgio, "I said the person in the video isn't Anna! You're the foolish one, Dad, beyond foolish!"

"I want to see Anna. Take me to her!"

He got up from his seat, struggling and fussing, obviously in a different state of mind than usual.

Giorgio realized the child was again emotionally out of control because of Anna. Damn it!

He glanced at Tony, signaling him to get the sedative, then approached the boy as calmly as possible, "Charlie, let's just—"

"No! I want to see Anna. That's who I want to see!" Charlie's agitated interruption cut off his words.

Charlie started running towards the door, still very worked up, "If you don't take me, I'll go by myself!"

In his current emotional state, it would be dangerous for him to run off.

Giorgio's brows furrowed, and he reached out to grab him, originally planning to warn him to control his emotions and behave. But upon seeing those stubborn yet teary eyes, fierce like a little wolf cub's, Giorgio's heart softened, and he felt a sense of defeat wash over him.

"Fine, as long as you quietly finish your breakfast, I'll take you. But no tantrums," he dictated.

Charlie instantly became subdued. However, it was evident that he was forcefully restraining his emotions. This displeased Giorgio greatly. What right did that casual woman have to unsettle him, to make his own son care so much?
