Chapter 544 Anna, I Can't Stay
Anna's heart skipped a beat. She knew he was the one who needed company actually.
The fact that he showed up by her side right after the funeral, despite his busy schedule, showed he still care abouther, make Anna feel heartwarming.
Anna suddenly felt her sore throat ease up and sat up. "When I get out of the hospital, let's go see the movie we missed."
Giorgio's eyes darkened slightly, and he responded softly, "How long did the doctor say it would take for you to be discharged?"
Thinking of the dangerous situation Tony mentioned, he said in a deep voice, "You can't do such dangerous things in the future. Safety comes first."
Anna knew that. But at that time, there were no other choices. It wasn't just about protecting herself; it was also about respecting Simon.
She didn't like Simon now. If something had really happened between them, it would have hurt both of them. In the future, they wouldn't even have the chance to be friends.
"Okay." Anna nodded lightly. "It wasn't that dangerous. I was just anxious at the time and got choked by the smoke. I feel fine now and could be discharged soon."
Giorgio stood up, ready to ask the doctor.
Edith, dressed in a doctor's coat, happened to walk in. Seeing Giorgio, she was pleasantly surprised. "Giorgio, what are you doing here?"
Giorgio replied directly, "Visiting Anna."
Hearing that, Edith clenched her palms, remembering Anna appearing at Giorgio's private apartment before, her face twisted, questioning, "Giorgio, what's your relationship with her? Why are you visiting her? And why did you allow her into your private apartment?"
Actually, she didn't believe there was anything between them. At most, Giorgio was taking care of Anna for Katherine's sake.
So after speaking, she added, "Giorgio, I told you at the party before that Katherine and Giuseppe had an improper relationship. She even got pregnant with Giuseppe! It's outrageous. Giorgio, you don't need to show her any mercy, nor do you need to take care of this woman. She's probably worse than Katherine. She messed around with Giuseppe and dated Mr. Dalio. Clearly, she's trying to rely on you and might eventually damage your reputation."
Every word sounded like she was looking out for Giorgio, but it was all malicious.
Hearing her curses, Anna sneered inwardly.
Who exactly wanted to cling to Giorgio?
Giorgio's face darkened at Edith's words. "Mind your tone. Also, you don't need to worry about my matters with Anna. Didn't you learn your lesson from last time?"
Last time, Edith slandered Lola. If he hadn't intervened, The Taylor Group would have been implicated.
Even with his intervention, he only let her stay home and reflect for three days.
Edith's face turned pale, feeling both aggrieved and annoyed.  "Giorgio, I'm just concerned about you. I know you best. We scored 98% on the compatibility test. Why not choose me? Let's give it a try?"
"Miss Taylor, instead of all this preamble, why not just say, 'Mr. Vittorio, I want to marry you.'" Anna couldn't help but interject.
Mainly, she couldn't stand Edith's tone.
Edith rolled her eyes and said, "What does it have to do with you? Did I say it wrong? Who knows what you were doing with Mr. Dalio in the middle of the night."
"Enough." Giorgio interrupted, suddenly realizing how disappointed he was with Edith. "If you're not here to check on Anna, then leave."
Edith was stunned.
The next second, she realized that Giorgio, who had never been angry with her, was now asking her to leave for Anna!
Fine, she would remember this!
Her eyes reddened, and she turned and ran out.
The room returned to silence.
Anna sat on the hospital bed, feeling awkward and complicated.
Although she really couldn't stand Edith, Edith was Giorgio's lifesaver, and they had a good relationship. She worried this would put Giorgio in a difficult position.
Anna said, "Actually, she's just too willful and seems to like you. If you talk to her, it should get better."
He had always treated Edith as a sister, thinking she felt the same, but the current situation was beyond his expectations.
Giorgio replied, "Don't worry, I won't indulge her unreasonable behavior."
That afternoon, Anna was discharged from the hospital.
She brought Charlie and Penny to reunite with Giorgio.
After dinner, the two kids, who hadn't seen each other in a while, obediently went to sleep in the small room. Sara also said she had a date and needed to leave.
"Hey, who are you meeting?" Anna asked worriedly.
Sara replied, "I have plenty of people to meet. Don't interrupt my date."
Then she grabbed her bag and left.
Anna realized they were all deliberately creating opportunities for her and Giorgio.
Sure enough, not long after Sara left the house, her phone chimed with a message.
[Anna, Mr. Vittorio needs comfort and relaxation the most right now. You know how to comfort and relax a man. Go for it!]
Anna felt quite speechless.
But in the quiet air, Giorgio sat on the sofa, replying to emails on his phone. His elegant posture looked slightly lonely, and his face was a bit haggard from not sleeping well for three days.
Anna couldn't bear to let him go back.
She pursed her lips and spoke, "You probably haven't slept well for a few days. Leave work aside and get a good rest tonight."
Hearing her, Giorgio looked up and realized the living room was left with Anna.
He had been busy with Viviana's funeral and work, and had just been engrossed.
At this moment, he glanced at his watch and said, "I'll go back to sleep and come to pick up Charlie tomorrow. I've asked Tony to get the movie tickets. We'll go see it tomorrow night."
Anna frowned. "Going back so late?"
As soon as she asked, she realized it sounded like she was trying to make him stay, and quickly explained, "I mean, you've been tired for days, and going back involves a drive. You can totally rest here."
Why did it sound even more like she was trying to make him stay!
Giorgio looked at Anna's awkward and flustered expression, and couldn't help but smile, "I'd love to, but Anna, I can't do that."
His deep, magnetic voice was ambiguous and serious.
Anna was stunned. The first half of his sentence made it sound like she really wanted him to stay.
But, inexplicably, she didn't mind at all. At this moment, her focus was entirely on the second half of his sentence and she asked, "Why can't you do that?"
It was just staying to sleep. He did that before. Why not now?
"Did something happen? Or is there something else?" Did he have some unspeakable reason?
