Chapter 157 He wants to take care of her!

Her voice, now powerful and restrained, surprised everyone, considering her adamant refusal to apologize.

Giuseppe looked at her with aching concern, "Katherine..."

"It's okay." Anna didn't want to involve innocent people. She looked at Edith, "Edith, it was wrong of me to strike you. I'm sorry. Mr. Vittorio, tonight’s incident is entirely my fault . Please don't blame Giuseppe. I will find out the truth behind this."

Having said that, she walked away without looking back, her elegant figure exuding loneliness and determination. Giuseppe quickly caught up with her.

Giorgio watched them leave, his expression not soften but rather darkening further. Did she just apologize for Giuseppe? And not hold him accountable? That's great!

"Giorgio, are you okay?" Edith asked with concern. Giorgio's gaze fell upon her red and swollen face, his voice thick and measured. "Tom and I are going to the hospital to work, I will handle things here." He added, "Tonight's incident should not be spread, I will take care of it." Then, he coldly walked away.

Edith felt wronged and angry. "Is Giorgio protecting that despicable woman? Why didn't he let me speak up when she's already like that?"

Tom quickly consoled her, saying, "Giorgio has his reasons for everything he does. Besides, he just defended you and made her apologize to you. Don't be angry."

Thinking about that, Edith felt quite happy too, pouting her mouth and giving up on it.

Only Enrico knew that Giorgio wasn't defending Edith at all. It was clearly from the phrase "go downstairs and tell everyone."

To make someone as discerning as Giorgio react like this, Anna must be an extraordinary woman.

In the hallway, Guiseppe walked closely behind Anna, his eyes behind the clean lenses were extremely sharp and dangerous.

"Katherine, you have been wronged. I will investigate the matter for you. Giorgio and Edith will pay for what they have done to you today."

Anna was indeed feeling deeply hurt at the moment. When she was in danger, Giorgio didn't come to protect her. Instead, he had dealt her a devastating blow.

But what kind of standing did she have to make him trust her? Their relationship was nothing more than a temporary alliance, and she shouldn't expect anything from it.

She adjusted her emotions and looked at Giuseppe with remarkably clear and calm eyes. "Thank you, but please don't get involved in this matter anymore. It might only create more misunderstandings. I'll find a way to investigate on my own."

"But Katherine..."

"There's no need to argue. Giorgio is angry right now. It's better to stay away from him during this time. Goodbye."

Anna walked downstairs. She hoped that through this incident, Giuseppe would stay out of trouble for a while, which could be considered a blessing in disguise.

Arriving back at the venue of the banquet. Judy quickly ran over and said, "Miss, where did you go just now? I turned around after eating a snack and couldn't find you."

"Nowhere, use Lady Di's or my identity immediately to get all the surveillance footage about me tonight from the control room."

"Huh? Why? Did you cause trouble?"

Anna shook her head, squinting her eyes, "Someone else caused trouble."

"Oh, okay!" Judy ran off quickly.

Anna found Davide and Carla and walked over. Although she disliked them greatly, at this moment, the only ones she could rely on to protect her were the ones scheming against her.

Carla noticed her approaching and sensed that something was wrong. Without saying a word, she maintained an elegant and intellectual demeanor, gracefully mingling among the guests. The banquet concluded at ten o'clock in the evening.

Carla had intended to inquire about the situation, but she was taken aback when she saw Giorgio's imposing figure sitting on the sofa, emanating an indescribable aura of chill and dignity.

Beside him, Edith sat, seemingly telling jokes and attempting to please him.

Her face immediately turned serious, "What are you doing by my side? Look at that wretched woman, practically glued to Giorgio. You hurry and go back with Giorgio."

With swift movements, she took Anna's hand and walked directly towards Giorgio and Edith, smiling as she spoke, "Edith, thank you for joining us the banquet tonight. It's getting late. Did you drive yourself here? If not, I can arrange for a driver to take you back."

Edith smiled and shook her head, "No, thank you. I will ride with Giorgio."

Her words flowed effortlessly, and her smile radiant. Although half of her face was slightly swollen, it couldn't be noticed without careful observation.

Carla's smile stiffened slightly as she continued, "Is Giorgio leaving now? Katherine's father and I wanted to talk to you privately at home."

Giorgio stood up with indifference, "I have other matters to attend to today. We can discuss it another day."

Then his deep gaze shifted to Anna's face and he spoke firmly, "Come with me."

Upon hearing that Anna was going with Giorgio instead of Edith alone, Carla felt somewhat relieved, "Okay, we'll talk another day. Katherine, you and Giorgio can take Edith back first."

With these simple and warm words, Carla indirectly relegated Edith to the position of an outsider, allowing Anna to reclaim her territory.

However, Anna had no intention of going back with Giorgio. She could imagine the dark mood in his eyes and potentially harsh actions he would take when they were alone together. Besides, she didn't want to be Edith presence.

"Mom, it's Dad's birthday tonight. I want to go home and sped time with you. I won't go back."

At her words, Giorgio's handsome face instantly turned cold. He stared at her with an icy intensity, pulling her towards him, "Since when do you need my permission? Hmmm?"

The final word carried a weighty and dangerous tone, as if he intended to dominate her.

Carla chimed in as well, "What do I and your father need your company for? Besides, you two just got married not long ago. You're inseparable. Even for one night, Giorgio can't bear to be without you. Be obedient and go back."

Anna understood what Carla said was on purpose for Edith to hear and as a warning to her, insisting that she must leave with Giorgio.

There was no place for her in the Stefanelli family. Her existence was only to replace Katherine and hold the position of Mrs. Vittorio. Therefore, without her, there was no temporary shelter to investigate the truth.

In the end, Anna was forced to go back with Giorgio. As they settled into the car in the underground garage, she tactfully took the front seat, leaving the space in the back for the two of them. She even took it a step further by closing the partition.

Edith, sitting in the back, was left speechless by this unexpected move. She had originally planned to use the care ride as an opportunity to get closer to Giorgio in a way that would undoubtedly infuriate Katherine. However, her plans were now dashed and she couldn’t even show off!

Giorgio hadn't anticipated Anna's actions either, and the atmosphere in the car grew incredibly tense as they drove on. After dropping Edith off at her house, he immediately spoke:
"Move to the back seat."

His voice carried a dangerous undertone, making it clear it was an unquestionable command.
However, Anna was far from foolish. She remained firmly in her seat, unmoving, and even closed her eyes as if preparing to take a nap.
.
The driver realized that something was off between the two and wanted to lighten the mood by mentioning that Anna was asleep.

However, before he could say anything, Giorgio's stern voice came first:

"Anna, if you want me to let the kids see what will happen to you once we're home, then, by all means, stay in your guest."
