Chapter 375 Ten Years, Not Loving You
Anna held Penny as she returned to Maple Valley Estates. As she went upstairs, she happened to run into Giuseppe coming down.
"Giuseppe, are you going out this late?"
"Yes, I have some urgent matters to attend to." Giuseppe adjusted his tie, took a few steps, then came back. His deep gaze fell on Anna.
"While I'm away, don't get too close to Giorgio; it doesn't look good.
"Also, in a few days, we're going on a trip. Make sure to clear your schedule."
After saying this gently, he hurried away. It seemed like a simple exchange, but Anna was stunned. He told her not to get too close to Giorgio? She thought of last night when Giorgio forcibly kissed her in the car, and then they slept together. She felt a pang of guilt. Could it be that Giuseppe had discovered something?
At three in the morning, Viviana was still sleepless. Even after taking two sleeping pills, it was no use.
"Viviana, this can't go on. Should I call Katherine to give you a massage?"
Previously, when Viviana had insomnia, it was Katherine who massaged her, and she fell asleep during the process.
Viviana said, "Katherine is already very busy. She has to prepare for the trip, and I don't want to bother her. I also don't want Giorgio to worry."
"Viviana, you're overthinking. Your children and grandchildren taking care of you is their duty. If you keep this up, it will only make them feel guilty. You just rest; I'll go find Giorgio and Katherine," Sofia said as she tucked her in, and quickly walked out.
When she reached Giorgio and Katherine's residence, she was about to speak but unexpectedly heard voices from inside.
"Giorgio, do you really want to divorce me? From the moment I received your call, I've been emotionally unstable, unable to face you. It wasn't until I got drunk that I had the courage to stand before you. I've waited for you for so many years without complaint, doing everything I could. What exactly is wrong with me? Tell me, and I'll change."
Katherine, slightly drunk, looked pained and resentful. Giorgio, dressed in black pajamas, stood under the light, his aura incredibly oppressive. He hated the smell of alcohol and being woken up, and Katherine had done both. He stared at her coldly
"You should never have touched my phone. Besides, our marriage is just a formality. Divorce is merely a ceremony. Considering our years together, you can choose the reason for the divorce, and you can ask for compensation. I think you're smart enough to know when to make the wise choice."
His implication was clear now was the best time. Katherine's tears flowed. "I touched your phone and deleted records to protect Anna. You're not divorcing me because of this, are you? You like Anna and want to be with her openly. This is just an excuse, a trigger. But Giorgio, I'm Charlie's mother, your wife of over ten years. Am I not worth more than someone you've known for a few months? She doesn't even like you, and your identities make it impossible for you to be together."
"That's not for you to decide," Giorgio said coldly. His words were even more heartless than the divorce.
"Engaged for over ten years, and I have no interest in making love to you. Don't you understand? Even after another ten years, I still wouldn't be interested."
His words were like sharp knives, extremely piercing and hurtful. What was the greatest weapon to strike a woman? This was it.
Katherine collapsed to the ground, her beautiful face utterly devastated. Indeed, from adulthood until now, whether Giorgio was drunk, she took the initiative, or Viviana tried to set them up, he had never had sex with her.
What hurt her even more was that he was a normal man, yet he would rather control his physiological needs than have sex with her. In his eyes, she wasn't even a tool.
What an insult. Katherine was deeply hurt, her dignity as a woman ruthlessly crushed. She was utterly humiliated.
"I'll have Tony take you back. Think about the terms of the divorce when you're sober," Giorgio said coldly, picking up his phone. Just then, there was a noise outside the door.
"Who's there?" he asked. Soon, a hesitant figure appeared at the door.
"Giorgio, it's me," Sofia said, trembling with shock. She couldn't believe the dire state of Giorgio and Katherine's relationship—they were about to divorce, and she couldn't believe that Giorgio liked Anna, Katherine's sister. This wouldn't be a very honorable thing if it got out.
She stammered, "Viviana's insomnia is severe. I came to ask Katherine to give her a massage. I didn't mean to eavesdrop."
Giorgio frowned. "Viviana's insomnia is severe? Why are you reporting this at three in the morning?" His presence was still intimidating.
Sofia quickly followed him out, explaining, "Viviana said the trip preparations were already troubling you, and she didn't want to delay Katherine or worry you. Giorgio, Viviana's thoughts are all about you."
Her words were filled with hidden meaning and weight. Viviana's health was deteriorating, and her life was nearing its end. As her most beloved grandson, how could Giorgio do something so unfilial? Giorgio's eyes showed deep meaning.
Sofia took a deep breath, then sighed and continued, "Giorgio, I've watched you grow up with Viviana. In my heart, I also see you as a grandson. Of course, I want you to be happy. I won't comment on your feelings for Anna, nor do I have the right to. But Viviana's health is declining day by day. In her last five months, I hope she can spend this time peacefully."
Every word Sofia said came from the heart. Giorgio frowned deeply, his expression heavy and serious.
Before entering Viviana's room, he said, "Sofia, I know what I'm doing. Please keep tonight's events confidential."
"Don't worry, Giorgio. I won't mention it to anyone."
Giorgio entered the room. When Viviana saw him, her pale, aged face showed a hint of guilt and difficulty.
"I didn't want to disturb you, but Sofia still woke you up."
"Viviana, don't say that. Are you feeling unwell? Have you had a doctor come for a consultation?"
Giorgio sat by the bed, his posture elegant, his gaze gentle. Viviana said, "It's nothing. I just feel out of sorts, insomnia, unable to sleep. The doctor can't solve it. Where's Katherine? Isn't she with you tonight?"
Giorgio's gaze deepened as he said, "We're together. She's getting dressed, so she's slow."
"That's good. Honestly, apart from her massage technique, no professional masseuse works for me." Viviana smiled knowingly. Sofia's expression was complicated. Tonight, Katherine was clearly drunk. How could she come before Viviana in that state? Besides, after being so humiliated by Giorgio, she wouldn't come, right?
"Viviana," a sweet, gentle voice called out, breaking Sofia's worries. Sofia looked over and saw a woman in a white camisole with strawberry patterns walking in. She was youthful and beautiful, making people feel good just by looking at her. How was this possible?
In reality, the woman who came was not Katherine but Anna.
