Chapter 406 Don’t Want to Hold My Hand? Want Me to Carry You?

She came up with a decent excuse.

But Giorgio noticed Anna's shifty eyes and head-scratching—classic signs of guilt.

Giuseppe's grin widened. "So that's it. Thought you were hiding like some turtle-hedgehog mix."

He was clearly hinting at his suspicions.

Anna felt exposed as he saw right through her.

She forced a smile.

Giorgio didn't push it. "It's late, and I haven't had lunch. Join me."

"What? It's already evening, and you haven't eaten?" Anna was shocked.

Giorgio replied, "Because of you, I've lost my appetite and peace of mind."

"It's not that bad. I just didn't reply to your message," she said.

Anna was at a loss for words, but Giorgio took her hand and led her upstairs. His hand was warm, and she felt the heat spread through her.

She wanted to pull away, but Giorgio pulled her closer and teased, "Don't want me to hold your hand? Want a bridal carry instead?"

"You twist my words every time," Anna retorted.

Giorgio's gaze fell, his tone softening, "I just want to mess with you."

His breath was warm and pleasant on her face, making her heart race. Giorgio always had that charm.

She looked away awkwardly as the elevator doors opened.

She quickly walked out. "You said you were hungry. What do you want to eat?"

Giorgio led her to a private room, unlocked it with his fingerprint, and the door opened automatically.

The room was elegantly decorated with transparent glass, stylish and sophisticated.

She had never imagined in such a luxurious place, a room like this existed.

Sensing her thoughts, Giorgio explained, "You're overthinking. This is a room prepared by Enrico's hotel."

He started ordering on a touch screen. Anna muttered, feeling out of place, "You have nothing to talk about with me."

Giorgio turned to her. "Then let's find something to do."

He pulled her against the wall and kissed her.

Anna's eyes widened in surprise. 'How could he just kiss her like that?' she thought.

Feeling Giorgio's intoxicating breath, Anna felt flustered. "Don't, Giorgio, please don't."

"What don't you want?" Giorgio kissed her gently.

Anna felt like he was a tempting marshmallow, but he was married to Katherine!

She pushed him away. "I mean it. You're a married man. Act appropriately."

Giorgio chuckled. "You didn't mention me being married when you kissed me that night. Don't worry. No one will see us here."

He leaned in again, but the door suddenly opened.

Enrico walked in.

Anna trembled, lowered her head, and stepped away from Giorgio.

Giorgio, slightly annoyed, looked at Enrico. "You didn't knock?"

Enrico replied casually, "I didn't know I had to knock in my own room. Besides, for secret love affairs, shouldn't there be some rent to pay?"

The mention of a secret affair hit Anna hard.

She stayed silent.

Giorgio, sensing her discomfort, told Enrico, "Watch your words."

"Alright. Let's talk business," Enrico said, taking a seat with a serious look, indicating there was something important to discuss.

Anna said, "I have a task; I need to go out and work."

"Come here," Giorgio called.

When she approached, he took her phone and checked it. " Feedbacks for your video? How many people do you need?"

Anna, unsure of his intentions, replied, "Not many, just ten."

"That's too few," Giorgio said, tapping her phone and sending the survey to his own. He made a few taps on his phone. "Done. I sent it to a WeChat group of a hundred people; they'll respond soon."

Anna realized she hadn't thought of doing an online survey and felt foolish. Giorgio scolded her for not using her brain.

"I'll go find Lucia, tell her not to look for more people," Giorgio said.

Enrico heard Lucia's name and gave Giorgio a look, signaling him not to interfere.

Giorgio complied, "I'll bring her up later."

"Okay," Anna replied absentmindedly, worried Lucia might have issues with the research. She quickly went downstairs.

Five minutes later, she found Lucia outside a private room.

"Lucia, Mr. Vittorio sent the survey to a WeChat group, so we don't need to find people anymore."

Lucia was taken aback and then anxiously said, "No, we can't. Market research is to prevent the video from leaking, revealing our style and plans."

"What should we do then?" Anna was caught off guard.

"I'll call Mr. Vittorio immediately to see if we can retract it."

"Okay, it's noisy here. Maybe send a message. After all, those in Mr. Vittorio's WeChat aren't ordinary people."

"Alright."

Anna quickly sent a message and then asked Lucia, "Mr. Vittorio wanted us to come up together earlier. Are you going?"

Lucia, thinking Enrico would be there, refused, "I'm not going. I'm going home."

Anna hadn't planned to go home either. She didn't know how to face Giorgio, whether to resist or not.

After seeing Lucia off, Anna was about to hail a cab when a luxury car pulled up. The window rolled down, revealing Giuseppe's refined face.

"Giuseppe, Mr. Giuseppe? What are you doing here?" Anna asked, surprised.

He had come specifically to find her, and his tone sounded strange. 'Could he have seen her with Mr. Vittorio? No, he hadn't gotten out of the car, so he couldn't have seen,' she thought.

Anna reassured herself, forcing a smile. "Lucia and I were doing a small survey. I was just about to go home. Thank you for coming to pick me up."

"Yes," Giuseppe responded softly, his gaze fixed on Anna as she got into the car. His eyes lingered on her slightly reddened lips, a touch of tenderness freezing in his gaze.

Elena had just taken a photo of her and Uncle Giorgio going hand in hand upstairs to the top floor room, so he already knew about her and Uncle Giorgio. Anna didn't want to explain, but Giuseppe knew something was up.

Giuseppe clenched his hand on his knee. In the front seat, Elena Martinez saw the veins on the back of his hand tighten, and her eyes narrowed. Mr. Giuseppe seemed to be having another episode.

"Mr. Giuseppe, there's still work to be done. Should I..." Elena tried to intervene.

"No need, let's go back," Giuseppe replied coldly.

Elena felt anxious. Miss Stefanelli was in for it this time.

A sudden ringtone echoed in the car. Unaware of the danger, Anna saw it was Giorgio calling and declined the call. She then sent a text message.

Anna: [Met Giuseppe downstairs, going home with him.]

She had no idea that this text message would anger both Giorgio and Giuseppe.
