Chapter 457 Mr. Giorgio's First Birthday

The study door was open.

In the brightly lit room, Tom and Anna were helping Giorgio with his wounds.

Giorgio lay on the sofa, his arm, chest, and thigh covered in nasty cuts.

As the text message said: [he hurt himself to control his urges.]

Charlie's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. He had really misunderstood his dad.

Despite his severe injuries, his dad didn't retaliate when Charlie bit him.

Giorgio never showed his wounds to anyone, but this time, he showed them to Anna and Charlie.

With a serious look, he said to Charlie, "I slept at the hotel that night so you wouldn't see. Maybe I should've told you first."

Charlie couldn't tell if his dad's last sentence was a compliment or an insult.

If he was really smart, he wouldn't have misunderstood. Then again, if he wasn't, he wouldn't have investigated.

He felt embarrassed and ashamed.

"You shouldn't have kept it from me, dad. That was stupid."

Though he didn't apologize, his tone softened.

He even called him dad.

Anna smiled and hugged Charlie.

"Auntie Anna thinks your dad's a bit stupid too. Doing things without telling us, causing misunderstandings. So Charlie, we won't be that stupid in the future, right?"

"Yeah." Charlie nodded, leaning on Anna's shoulder.

"But Auntie Anna, we still need to apologize to dad. Did you apologize? And did you make up for dad's birthday gift? If not, Auntie Anna, you should give yourself to dad!"

With the misunderstanding cleared, Charlie resumed his matchmaking efforts.

Anna blushed! She saw a flash in Giorgio's eyes, remembering the gift she had prepared.

Her breath quickened, and she looked away.

"Charlie, Auntie Anna already gave him the gift. Let's celebrate your dad's birthday and blow out the candles, okay?"

"Okay."

Penny jumped out. "I love cake the most!"

Charlie saw her. "Penny, I'll buy you a Häagen-Dazs ice cream cake."

He wanted to make up for what he had said to her.

Penny smiled sweetly. "Okay. Actually, Charlie, I only pretended to be angry to tease you. But you'd better buy me the ice cream cake or I'll really be mad!"

That night, they all went to Enrico Moretti's club to celebrate Giorgio's birthday.

Anna led the birthday song, and the kids cheered and jumped around.

Under the flickering candlelight, the atmosphere was tranquiland gentle.

Giorgio looked at them, feeling the warmth of a family for the first time.

It was also the first time he had celebrated his real birthday.

"Uncle Giorgio, make a wish!"

"Dad, wish for siblings for us! Auntie Anna will have them!"

Anna blushed. Kids these days were really audacious.

Giorgio smiled, glanced at the kids, and actually agreed!

"Okay." He closed his eyes and made a wish.

He didn't just ignore the kids! He actually agreed!

'Nobody does that,' she thought.

After making his wish, Giorgio turned to Anna, looking at her. "Something bothering you?"

"Yeah! Who agrees to kids like that? I don't want to have babies with you," Anna answered honestly. Her face was still red.

Giorgio raised an eyebrow and asked, "If not with me, then with who?"

Anna spluttered. That wasn't what she meant! They weren't at that stage yet!

"I don't want to talk to you," she said, turning away.

Giorgio looked at her angry posture and smiled slightly.

"Kiss! Kiss!" Tom spoke up, and Lucia and the other kids joined in.

"Kiss! Kiss!"

"Mommy and Uncle Giorgio kiss!"

"Dad and Auntie Anna kiss!"

Anna wasn't even really angry, but now everyone was clamoring for them to kiss.

Before, when she and Giorgio pretended to be a couple, they were asked to kiss many times.

But this time was different. She felt nervous and wanted to refuse.

Giorgio, however, grabbed her by the shoulders, pulled her over, and kissed her on the lips.

"Wow!" The kids exclaimed in delight.

Anna's face turned red! He had no sense of propriety at all.

Enrico, watching the scene, couldn't muster a smile. He pulled Tom aside.

"Why are you joining the fun? Don't you know how dicey things are right now? If photos get out, do you know what kind of disaster it will bring to Giorgio?"

Giorgio hadn't publicly announced his divorce from Katherine. Anna and Katherine were known to be rivals.

The consequences were obvious.

Tom understood. "Didn't we choose this place precisely because it has good security? No one will take photos. Besides, Enrico, I've never seen Giorgio so happy."

Enrico was despondent. Indeed, Giorgio used to always have a cold demeanor, but now he seemed different. As his brother, he wanted him to be happy.

But the cost of this happiness was too high.

When Anna went to the restroom, Enrico waited in the hallway and approached her as she came out.

"Ms. Stefanelli, I need to talk to you about your relationship with Giorgio. Giorgio is someone who, once he commits to something, will give it his all. You'd better think carefully if you can stay with him till the end. Otherwise, don't risk hurting him."

His tone was heavy, as though he was giving hera warning.

Anna was initially happy to celebrate Giorgio's first birthday.

But these words felt like a heavy burden pressing down on her.

She wanted to try with Giorgio, but she knew the difficulties were beyond imagination.

As long as Katherine didn't agree to divorce, she would never have a legitimate status.

She would even be ostracized.

She said, "Mr. Moretti, I..."

"Ms. Stefanelli, let me finish," Enrico interrupted, "Your actions do not affect anyone close to you, but Giorgio carries the weight of the Vittorio family, The Vittorio, and all his past glories. If something bad happens, he'll lose everything he ever had, as well as risk his entire future. So, think carefully."

He walked away, leaving Anna stunned.

Enrico's purpose in approaching her was not just to warn her, but to make her understand the situation.

She hadn't realized that Giorgio was risking so much for her.

Being together with him was truly fraught with difficulties.

From the banquet to the journey home, Anna was distracted.

Giorgio had had a bit to drink and was slightly drunk.

His voice, movements, and breathing became increasingly gentle.

He hugged her from behind.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked.

Anna snapped back to reality, blushing. Not wanting him to know she was thinking deeply, she gently pushed him away.

"Nothing, I'm just relieved that Charlie's condition hasn't worsened. You should rest. I'll go see tothe kids."

Before she could leave, Giorgio pulled her back.

"Anna, stay here tonight."
