Chapter 423 Blocked by Ninth Master
No way.
He wouldn't call her.
Anna clutched her phone, feeling anxious. Not wanting to answer in front of Giuseppe, she said, "I need to use the restroom."
She rushed to the public restroom. The call was still going. Taking a deep breath, she answered, "Hello?"
"Auntie Anna, it's me."
Charlie?
Anna felt a pang of disappointment.
But then she remembered, Giorgio had already said he didn't want her around. It was impossible for him to call.
She said softly, "Charlie, what's up?"
"Jet lag, can't sleep. The food here sucks. Auntie Anna, could you make some food, vacuum pack it, and send it over?"
Anna frowned.
"Aren't there any restaurants? Your cooking's pretty good too."
Charlie, feeling hurt, said, "Daddy's busy with work and ignores me. I feel like an abandoned rag doll. I miss you, Auntie Anna, and your cooking. I can't eat anything else. Please, or I'll starve."
His small voice was pitiful.
If it were Penny, Anna would teach her to adapt, but Charlie had autism, and his words couldn't be ignored.
Since she had time after filming with Lucia, she said, "Alright, I'll send some over."
"Ok, and Daddy's got a lot of social stuff. The alcohol here is strong. Could you also send the stomach medicine from my room?"
Anna nodded and did as he asked.
She didn't know that two days later, her concern for Charlie would be twisted.
"Daddy, was the food good tonight?" Charlie asked innocently at dinner.
Giorgio thought he was seeking praise and nodded.
"Yes, it's good."
Though he couldn't understand why it tasted so much like Anna's cooking.
The next second, Charlie said, "Auntie Anna made it!"
Anna?
Giorgio raised an eyebrow.
Charlie explained, "Auntie Anna was worried you wouldn't like the food, so she made it, vacuum-packed it, and sent it over. There's more in the fridge. And she sent stomach medicine because she was worried about your drinking. Auntie Anna is such a considerate girlfriend."
He got up, walked to the fridge, and saw a bunch of packaged food.
Next to it was a recently opened delivery box.
He was skeptical, not believing Anna would do this. He turned and looked at Charlie.
"You asked her to do this."
It was both a question and a statement.
Charlie clenched his hands.
Lying to his powerful daddy took a lot of courage!
He said, "Yes, Auntie Anna wanted to make you not angry and didn't know what to do, so I suggested it. Auntie Anna really wants you to forgive her."
Giorgio's expression was unreadable.
"You tell her, not everything can be forgiven. Especially using a child to speak for her, that's even less forgivable."
He hated that she used the child, no different from other women.
He hated even more that he felt a moment of wavering in the face of such tactics.
Damn it!
Charlie stood there, stunned.
Daddy was really angry.
But Daddy meant he wanted Auntie Anna to make the first move.
But how to get Auntie Anna to do that?
Thinking about this, he felt a headache coming on.
In his room, Giorgio irritably lit a cigarette, letting the strong smoke calm him.
Five minutes later, he took out his phone and sent Anna a voice message: [I was too gentle with you before, making you think I'm easy to placate, that a little favor can make me forgive you. Anna, adults need to take responsibility for their own mistakes.]
Just as he sent it, there was a knock on the door.
"Giorgio, I need to talk to you."
Katherine stood at the door, calm and composed.
Giorgio put out his cigarette and sat at his desk.
"Come in."
Two words, as usual.
Katherine knew he wouldn't be gentle with her. She took a deep breath and walked in.
"Tomorrow's schedule is set. There's a banquet with Ms. Harlan in the evening, so you'll need to prepare."
Ms. Harlan, a top graduate from Crownhaven, married a wealthy businessman from Corystania, and they created numerous business successes together. Their love story was also well-known.
Giorgio knew her profile and strong personality. He responded with a light "ok."
"Thank you."
"It's no trouble. I'm happy to help."
Katherine said gently, then handed him a mini Bluetooth earphone.
"Giorgio, listen to this when you have time."
She turned and left, maintaining a careful distance.
Giorgio assumed it was work-related, put it on, and started listening.
It turned out differently—
[I'm going on a business trip to Corystania with Giorgio tonight.]
[Anna, you and Giorgio are completely over.]
[You're wrong. Mr. Vittorio and I never even started. How could there be an end?]
[You have no feelings for Giorgio. His kindness to you is undeserved.]
[You deserve it. Take good care of your husband.]
The conversation was between Katherine and Anna.
Anna's attitude was cold and indifferent. She even said they never started. Husband?
She actually thought that way.
Giorgio's face turned even colder.
He furrowed his brows and strode out of the office, heading to the bedroom.
The shower suddenly turned off.
Charlie was taking a bath and looked up to see his nearly 6.2-foot-tall daddy looking down at him, menacingly.
"Daddy, what's wrong?"
Giorgio got straight to the point.
"Did you act as a mediator? Chat logs, food delivery, medicine? Charlie, did you make all that up?"
His voice was cold, a dangerous question.
Daddy knew.
"Don't even think about lying!" The words were a direct command!
Charlie shivered, knowing Daddy was angry, and lowered his head cautiously. "Yes, I wanted to reconcile Daddy and Auntie Anna, and Auntie Anna really likes you."
As expected!
Giorgio didn't want to hear any more. His forehead veins throbbed with anger.
These past two days, he thought she had some conscience and wanted to apologize.
Even when he saw the delivered food, he felt touched and sent her that message.
In the end, it was all just his wishful thinking.
Thinking of the words in the recording, his aura turned cold, and he immediately blocked Anna.
'Oops.Seems like I caused trouble.' Charlie took out his phone to apologize to Anna, but Giorgio took it away.
"From today on, you are not allowed to contact her. Also, copy the textbook one hundred times."
Charlie felt wronged.
Anna woke up in the morning and saw Giorgio's voice message.
Giorgio: [I was too gentle with you before, making you think I'm easy to placate, that a little favor can make me forgive you. Anna, adults need to take responsibility for their own mistakes.]
What did that mean?
Anna instinctively felt that Charlie had done something to make him misunderstand. She sent a message: [Mr. Vittorio, I'm sorry.]
She was about to edit the rest of the message, but she received a system message: [Sorry, you are not friends with this user.] She was blocked!
