Chapter 231 Want to Watch Him Dress?

What was his problem? She was just speaking the truth—why was he so angry?
"What, you want to stay and watch me get dressed?"
His voice tipped with insinuation, starkly suggestive given his undressed state and the proximity between them.
Anna's face flushed crimson, and her head shook vigorously, "No, no, I'm leaving. Right now."
She dashed out as quickly as she could.
Giorgio's gaze retracted; his expression cool as he walked into his dressing room.
Outside the door, Anna patted her flushed and fevered cheeks, a headache accompanied by a cloud of gloom.
Mrs. Stefanelli's tone on the phone had sounded like a final summons. If Giorgio didn't show up, it would look like she couldn't deliver on a promise, or worse, that she might not want Katherine to wake up, as if she were deliberately sabotaging things.
No, she must take Giorgio with her, no matter how dreary the day seemed.
About ten minutes later, Giorgio emerged from the changing room, impeccably dressed in a suit, his aura detached and aristocratic— a stark contrast to his previous undressed state.
Spotting Anna still obediently standing at the door, his brows knitted in annoyance. "Didn't I tell you to leave?"
Anna mustered a smile. "Well, you surely want Katherine to wake up and end this perilous situation too, right? Please take a moment to visit her."
Worried he might refuse, she added, "If you go, I'll agree to any one request you have today—I'll cook, do laundry, anything!"
She pledged her offer with desperate sincerity, as if she was laying it all on the line.
Giorgio's lips curled with a disdainful sneer. "To make me visit her, you'd be willing to do anything?"
Anna nodded eagerly, completely missing the dangerous undertone in his words. "As long as it's not illegal, I'm in."
He scoffed again, his handsome hand lifting to pinch her chin, and his deep gaze locking with her eyes, "Does that include offering up your body?"
Boom!
His casual remark detonated overhead, shattering Anna's composure. Her face flushed a deep crimson.
She wasn't naive; she knew exactly what he meant by 'body'—it was no joke.
But she had neither the luxury to indulge in his flirtations nor the time to play the games of the wealthy.
"Mr. Vittorio, I was only talking about labor," she retorted, her tone firm. "If that's what you're after, forget I said anything."
Why should she panic? It was his wife who was unconscious, not hers.
Anna turned and walked away, heading downstairs.
Giorgio watched her go, a trace of a bitter smile playing on his lips, his face shrouded in an enigmatic fog, and his emotions unreadable.
The unexpected ring of the doorbell chimed through the air.
Anna had just reached the foyer when she froze in her tracks upon opening the door.
Standing outside was Wendy, clad in a rose-red wealthy woman's suit, her hair a fashionably curly mane, dripping with jewelry— flashy Wendy, who else could it be?
The word 'Mom' almost slipped from her lips.
But Giorgio stepped forward first, his voice cold as he asked, "What brings you here?"
Wendy's gaze sifted through Anna from head to toe with scrutinizing precision for a full minute before she spoke up, "I'm here for Anna. You don't even greet me now when you see me?"
Snapping back to the moment, Anna collected herself. "I'm Katherine, not Anna; you've got the wrong person."
"Hahaha!" Wendy burst into laughter, her voice loud and confident, "You're Anna! I've raised you for years; I'd recognize you even if you were ashes! Mr. Vittorio, call the cops immediately! I want her taken to the station. Today, in front of everyone, I'll unveil her true colors!"
With that, she whipped out her cell phone and dialed swiftly.
Anna's face tightened. If the police got involved, it would cause a sensation and draw too much attention.
She reached out, snatched Wendy's phone, and ended the call.
"Cause such a scene without any evidence—go ahead, call the police, but think carefully about the consequences. If things aren't as you claim, you'll not only pay for damages but also face jail time. Can you handle those consequences?"
Wendy was at a loss for words.
The previous night, a stranger had approached her, urging her to go to Crownhaven to identify Anna with a promise of a million dollars for a successful job.
Identifying Anna seemed easy enough to send her racing over.
But now, faced with Anna’s bold words and serious consequences, Wendy wasn't so sure she could bear them...
Seeing Wendy's fear and hesitation, Anna deliberately handed back the phone, deliberately revealing her slender, pale fingers under the light—smooth, with no trace of a scar!
Wendy's concern deepened. Without a scar, could this really not be Anna?
"Uh, I think I need to take a moment to think this over," she muttered, grabbing her phone and hustling out.
Anna let out a sigh of relief.
After all these years, she knew Wendy hated to lose, which was why Anna had intimidated her with a mere hint.
But that was only a temporary solution; it wouldn't work a second time.
She closed the door. "First Camilla, now Wendy. Don't you feel like they're completely doubting who I am, trying to catch me out and testing me on purpose?
What should we do? If it goes on like this, I'll definitely be exposed."
"Mr. Vittorio, please, let's go to the Stefanelli family now!"
Her voice was laced with urgency, like a cat on a hot tin roof.
Giorgio was watching, surprised that they'd even approached Wendy. He coldly remarked, "You think life is like a TV show? That, if I go, she'll just wake up? Instead of worrying about that, we should focus on how we're going to handle what's next."
As he finished speaking...
'Ding-dong-ding-dong-ding~~' The ringtone of Anna's phone broke the silence—it was Wendy calling back!
No sooner had she left than she was calling. Anna sensed that it wasn't going to be simple.
Anna bit her lip nervously, took a deep breath, and answered, “Hello?"
"Anna, I'm in Crownhaven. Where are you? Let's have lunch together; if you don't show, I'll call the police and report you missing."
Without waiting for a reply, Wendy hung up, giving Anna no chance to refuse.
Clearly, she was trying to confirm if Anna was an impostor or not.
"Luckily, I kept some of my old clothes. I’ll get ready and head over right now."
"Ding-dong, ding-dong, ding~~" Another ringtone chimed from a cell phone.
This time, it was Giorgio's, on the line was Colombo.
"Giorgio, Grandma had insomnia last night and feels quite under the weather today. She mentioned that Anna's massage skills are excellent; they really help her relax and fall asleep. Could you bring Anna over at noon to give Grandma a massage?”
Oh no...
Simultaneously, two calls summoned Anna and Katherine. Even the dimmest light could see this was a setup.
If Katherine failed to show up at the Vittorio mansion, or if Anna couldn't be seen around Wendy, it would directly prove the truth.
Frozen in place, Anna asked Giorgio anxiously, “What should we do? I can't play two roles at the same time!”
Giorgio, typically inscrutable, now seemed enveloped in a faint mist of concern.
No doubt about it, Wendy was Colombo’s Crownhaven pawn. Getting through this day would require some clever tactics.
He gazed at Anna, for a full five seconds before his lips parted, "I have a plan."
