Chapter 136 How Could She Dare Ignore Him
v"Yes."
He went on.
"Her mother has been helping her with physical therapy these past few days and noticed her fingers moving. It seems she has regained some consciousness. The doctor said it's a positive sign."
"Good, I'll have Little Tony find an expert to follow up and keep me informed if there are any changes. I'll also visit her when I have time."
His magnetic voice filled the car, not gentle, but much warmer than before. Anna kept her eyes closed, but her thoughts were more complicated and messy than the bustling lights outside.
Katherine had regained consciousness? Does that mean she will wake up soon? If so, she can stop pretending to be Katherine, leave Crownhaven, and return to Vista Heights.
That would be the happiest thing ever, but when she thought about Penny, Charlie, and Simon, she couldn't help but feel a sense of desolation.
She might never see Charlie again. And Simon, how should she treat him? How could she match his affection and gain his parents' approval?
The car stopped in front of the villa.
Anna opened her eyes. Giorgio looked at her, lost in thought, and said, "Katherine has shown signs of improvement. You probably won't have to play the role for much longer."
Was he warning her to behave well because she would leave soon? Or was he telling her that once Katherine woke up, she wouldn't need to be the substitute anymore? Anna's gaze carried a cool detachment as she looked at him and nodded. "Yes, I overheard your conversation. I really hope she wakes up soon. I'm tired today, so I'll go to my room and rest. Goodbye."
She opened the car door and got out, displaying a cold attitude. Giorgio squinted his eyes. What kind of attitude was that?
He got out of the car and followed her. "Daddy." "Mummy." Two adorable voices sounded, one from Charlie and the other from Penny. If someone didn't know, they would think they were a family.
Penny, wearing a beautiful princess dress, looked up at Anna excitedly and said, "Mommy, today I had so much fun at the huge oceanarium, we saw whales, pufferfish, sea turtles, and even Patrick! Just SpongeBob was missing."
Charlie said, "Penny, I've already told you three times, there are sponges in the ocean, but they don't look like SpongeBob. It was right in front of you, but you couldn't recognize it."
Penny pouted. "I don't care, that's not the cute SpongeBob."
The two kids exchanged words, arguing back and forth.
In the past, Anna would have felt happy, but today she was really tired.
"Penny, Mummy is tired. Let's go back to the room and take a bath and sleep," Anna suggested.
Penny shook her head, "No, I want to sleep with Charlie. Charlie said boys and girls are different, and even though we're only one year apart, we can't sleep together anymore when we're older. We should cherish the time we have now."
Anna looked at the two kids, feeling both annoyed and amused.
"Alright, you two go to sleep then. Goodnight, I'm going to sleep too." They didn't have much time together anyway.
After saying that, she went straight to her room.
Ignoring him like that?
Not even saying goodnight?
Giorgio stared at Anna's figure as she disappeared into the hallway, his gaze sinking.
The two kids stood in front of Giorgio.
Penny, with her chubby little hands on her hips, said, "Hmph, Giorgio, did you bully my mummy? My mummy looks upset, she's mad at you."
Charlie, with one hand in his pocket, said, "It's wrong for a man to bully a woman. You should apologize to Anna."
It seemed like they were accusing him.
Giorgio frowned.
He bullied Anna?
Since this afternoon, he had either been locked out by her or watched her and Giuseppe exchange glances, even getting inexplicably cold treatment from her.
Who was really bullying whom?
"How did you figure out that I bullied her?"
Penny said, "I don't care! Mummy is the gentlest person in the world. She wouldn't get mad at anyone or cause trouble for no reason. If she's unhappy, it's your fault, and you have to take responsibility."
Gentle? Could Anna really be described as gentle?
Charlie added, "Yeah, no matter the reason or whose fault it is, it's always the man's fault. If Daddy doesn't take responsibility, we won't pay attention to him anymore."
Whose fault it is, it's always the man's?
"Where did you hear that? Right and wrong don't depend on gender," Giorgio corrected them.
Charlie coldly snorted. "That's not true. Men who argue about right and wrong with women don't have girlfriends. They win the argument but lose the girlfriend! I won't do such a stupid thing!"
Giorgio remained speechless.
Could a six-year-old boy understand such reasoning?
He looked at Little Tony in the corner, his eyes seeking guidance on how to educate children.
Little Tony innocently replied, "Mr. Vittorio, this is something all men understand, no need for teaching. But I have to say, Charlie is really smart. Luckily, he didn't inherit your genes, Mr. Vittorio."
Giorgio's gaze turned hard.
Giorgio said, "Little Tony, are you saying there's something wrong with my genes?"
"No, no!" Little Tony replied in fear, his legs trembling. He hurriedly denied, "I didn't mean that. It's just that Charlie is gentle and smart. Mr. Vittorio, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your genes."
Giorgio glanced at him, but didn't say anything else. He coldly walked upstairs.
Suddenly, his pant leg was pulled.
He turned his head, lowered his gaze, and saw two children, each holding onto one of his pant legs with their sincere eyes fixed on him.
"Giorgio, have you figured out how to appease mummy?" One of them asked.
"You have to apologize to Anna before you can sleep," the other added.
Giorgio remained speechless.
Penny was willing to let it go.
This cheeky boy, trying to bully his own father?
"Let go. I'll handle it in the morning," he commanded coldly, his intimidating aura evident.
The two kids immediately let go.
Giorgio continued walking upstairs without hesitation.
Once he was gone, Penny was full of doubt. "Will your dad really handle it tomorrow morning?"
Charlie rubbed his chin and confidently said, "Based on my judgment, definitely not."
"Oh? What should we do then? Shouldn't we think of a solution?" Penny asked.
"Well, as their children, it's our duty to help. Watch me!" Charlie proclaimed.
"But Charlie, didn't you refuse to acknowledge your dad?" Penny asked.
Charlie's face paled for a moment, then he said, "He let you and Anna move into the villa and didn't stay with that woman. I forgave him in my heart."
Penny nodded. "Oh, I see."
"Yeah!" Charlie didn't say anything more and led Penny upstairs.
He would never admit that he had so much fun today that he couldn't help but call his dad and completely forget about being angry.
That would be embarrassing.
Anna was exhausted today. After taking a bath, she laid down in bed and soon fell into a deep sleep.
She slept well and didn't wake up until early morning.
Stretching lazily, she washed up and went downstairs to prepare breakfast.
But as soon as she descended the stairs, she was greeted with an unbelievable scene.
