Chapter 447 Deadbeat Dad
Giorgio got hung up on by a woman for the first time. Annoyed, he called back, but the number was unreachable.
When he texted her, he realized he was blocked.
"Damn it!" he muttered, then called Katherine, speaking coldly. "What did you say to Anna?"
Katherine expected the call and calmly replied, "I just told her about that night, nothing more."
Giorgio snapped, "I underestimated you."
He hung up, floored the gas, and sped to the location Anna had sent earlier.
When he arrived, a cleaning lady at the door told him, "Sir, the young lady left twenty minutes ago. She asked me to give this to you."
It was the star necklace he had put around her neck just hours ago. Now she had taken it off and said she didn't like him anymore. The message was clear: she had dumped him.
Giorgio had a headache. His brows furrowed as he drove to the hospital.
"Mr. Vittorio? Why are you here?" Sara was surprised to see him, indicating that Anna hadn't come.
'Where could she have gone all alone?' Giorgio thought, remembering the time Anna got drunk at a bar and was almost taken advantage of. He grew anxious.
"If you hear from Anna, contact me immediately," he said, then left quickly.
Sara was puzzled. 'Wasn't Anna with him? What's going on?' she thought, trying to text Anna but not reaching her. Sara had a headache.
Giorgio drove around the city looking for Anna but couldn't find her, growing more irritable with each passing moment. He had planned to tell her everything today but didn't expect things to escalate so quickly.
After sitting in the car for half an hour, Giorgio thought of something and drove back to Emerald Manor.
"Charlie, find out where your Auntie Anna is," he said.
Charlie had a knack for hacking; even if the phone was off, he could locate it. Using Charlie to find Anna would be the quickest way.
However, Charlie gave him a cold look. "Does Auntie Anna know the truth and is ignoring you? Serves you right!" He lay on the bed, pulled the covers over himself, and went to sleep.
Giorgio's mouth twitched. Since that night, Charlie's attitude had been cold and confrontational. He had tried to explain, but Charlie remained stubborn.
"Charlie, now's not the time to throw a tantrum. Your Auntie Anna is out there alone with her phone off; aren't you worried? Get up, I need to know where she is."
Charlie moved under the covers. He was worried about Auntie Anna but hated Giorgio and Katherine for deceiving and abandoning him.
He threw off the covers and sat up. "So now you're worried? Didn't you think about the consequences? Even if I'm worried about Auntie Anna, it's none of your business! I'll find her myself and tell her you're a jerk. She should stay away from you!"
After cursing at Giorgio, Charlie jumped off the bed and ran out. His misunderstanding and hatred towards Giorgio were too deep.
Giorgio massaged his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
Outside, Charlie investigated Anna's location and took a taxi there himself.
The night was dark and chilly. In the quiet reservoir park, only frogs and insects could be heard.
Anna sat by the lake, her face pale from the cold wind, her nose red, her eyes even more so.
Just hours ago, she was a happy girl, preparing a birthday gift for her boyfriend.
Now, it felt like a hailstorm had hit, leaving her devastated.
She thought about all the women around him and felt that she didn't need to endure this. She had been learning things from those videos for him, which now seemed ridiculous.
She had to maintain some dignity. Tears streamed down her face.
"Auntie Anna," a small voice sounded.
Anna turned around, surprised to see little Charlie standing behind her. She hugged him in astonishment.
"Charlie? What are you doing here?"
Charlie pursed his lips and said, "I know what happened with Daddy, and I know you fought with him tonight, so I came to find you."
Worried she might misunderstand, he added, "Don't worry, I didn't bring that jerk Daddy with me. I hate him; he was with you but did that with another woman. He's just a jerk."
Anna was very sad, but seeing Charlie's complaints, she couldn't help but smile.
"You're absolutely right.," she said.
"But it's not enough. Auntie Anna, you must not talk to him or forgive him. Let him grow old alone with those womanizers!"
Charlie gritted his teeth in hatred. Initially, he had tried countless times to match Anna and Giorgio up, but now he wanted Anna to stay away.
Anna felt bitter and oppressed inside. Not wanting Charlie to sense it, she took a deep breath.
"It's so late, aren't you cold?" she asked.
Charlie wasn't cold, but feeling Anna's icy body, he nodded.
"Yeah, it's really cold. Auntie Anna, can you come to the car with me?"
"Okay."
Anna couldn't bear to let Charlie freeze, so she held him and walked out, getting into a taxi.
Giorgio wasn't in the car, and it was pitch black around, with no other cars.
Charlie really had come alone.
Anna felt an inexplicable sense of loss.
Charlie thought she was worried about being found by Giorgio and reassured her, "Auntie Anna, don't worry. I've blocked all the information from reaching him. Even if Daddy hires a top hacker, he won't find us. Don't be sad. I'm here with you."
Then, thinking of something, he sighed and added, "He's not my Daddy anymore; he's just a jerk."
His sadness was no less than Anna's, and was tinged filled with hatred.
Anna didn't notice and thought he was just trying to cheer her up. She forced a smile and touched his little face.
"Yeah, you're is smart and cute, better than all the men in the world. But Charlie, can I take you home?"
He had run out alone; who knew what chaos it would cause in the Vittorio family?
Moreover, she didn't want to involve a child in adult arguments.
Charlie frowned in surprise.
"Auntie Anna, if you take me back, you'll see that jerk. Won't you be sad? Can you stand to see him now?"
