Chapter 40 A Little Accident
The rising intonation, the ambiguous posture, it all exuded endless danger.
And the phrase "none of my business" coming from his mouth took on a completely different meaning!
It made Anna’s breath catch in her throat.
Anna blushed in embarrassment, feeling restrained by his hold and very unnatural. "Let go of me, I didn't mean it like that."
Giorgio's eyes held a cold smile as he raised his hand and his slender fingers lifted her chin. "Since you didn't mean it, don't say it without thinking. And don't challenge my authority."
Being so close, his cool and dangerous aura invaded her face, cold and tingling. She took a sharp breath.
Anna became even more uncomfortable, feeling a restless warmth in her heart.
Authority? He's certainly...
Is it authority, not tyranny?
Shameless.
Anna was a puzzle to him - her mere presence stirred a tumult of conflicting emotions within him.
With a feigned nonchalance, Giorgio decided to probe the situation. "So, Anna," he began, his voice carefully composed, "you and Simon... seem to be spending quite a lot of time together these days. Are you sleeping with him?"
Anna's eyes flickered up at him her surprise evident. She regarded Giorgio curiously. "Oh, Giorgio," she responded, her tone tinged with a hint of confusion, "why do you bring that up?"
Giorgio's gaze turned distant, lost in the tangled web of his emotions. He struggled to articulate the storm raging within him, attempting to cloak his jealousy beneath a veneer of casual conversation. "It's just... interesting," he replied, his voice laced with a carefully measured detachment. "I've noticed you two getting closer, spending time at your place. That's all."
Anna closed her book gently, sensing the underlying tension in Giorgio's words. She studied his face, searching for answers to the enigmatic pull she felt towards him. It baffled her how someone so brusque and arrogant could stir a sense of attraction deep within her being.
A fleeting smile graced Anna's lips, though tinged with melancholy. "Giorgio," she began, her voice gentle yet firm, "it's true that Simon and I have been spending time together. But it's purely platonic, I assure you. I find it puzzling myself... the way our connection persists." She wanted to rile him up, so she added, “For now, its platonic.”
Giorgio's mask of indifference slipped for a moment, revealing a flicker of vulnerability. He stepped closer to Anna, his eyes searching hers for understanding. “For now?”
As the weight of their unspoken desires hung in the air, Giorgio and Anna stood in that moment of vulnerability, their feelings entwined in a dance of attraction and confusion. The allure of the unknown continued to bind them together, even as their hearts navigated the treacherous terrain of jealousy and hidden desires.
"Daddy, Anna, are you playing stacking blocks?" At this moment, a young and tender voice sounded.
Anna looked over and saw Charlie standing at the kitchen door with a silly expression, looking towards them, his face instantly turning even redder!
Somehow finding the strength, she pushed Giorgio aside and awkwardly explained, "No, there was just a little accident, we bumped into each other."
Charlie, being just a child, innocently believed, "Oh, Anna, I've finished washing the dishes."
"Such a good boy." Anna walked over and picked him up, pinching his face, saying, "I'll take you downstairs, and tomorrow Auntie will come and spend even more time with you."
Although Charlie didn't want to leave, he had a serious condition since birth and had to have Giorgio sleep with him every night, no matter how late it was or if he was on a business trip in another city. It was said to be cultivating their father-son bond.
So many people in the business world had seen Giorgio working while holding him, creating a spectacular scene. Over time, he became more and more dependent on Giorgio at night.
"Okay." He obediently nodded.
Giorgio, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow. Before he even mentioned leaving, Anna was so eager to rush him?
Very well, throughout the entire world, she was the first person to give him the boot.
With a cold face, he said, "You don't need to accompany us. Charlie, let's go."
Charlie didn't dare to defy the wishes of his beloved father, especially since his father had already brought him to visit Anna. He kissed her cheek and said, "Goodbye, Auntie, see you tomorrow without fail."
After speaking, he jumped out of Giorgio's embrace and quickly caught up.
Anna sweetly smiled, then looked at Giorgio's cold and slender figure, like winter frost that covered everything. She didn't feel like approaching him and having her warm face against his cold butt. She turned around and went back into the house to make a new dessert.
Being bedridden for seven days, she hadn't taken care of Penny much, and tomorrow she would have to go and accompany Charlie. She wanted to make more sweets and candies for her, so even if she couldn't pick her up and drop her off during the day, she could constantly feel her mother's love.
In the elevator, the numbers descended one by one.
Giorgio's handsome face also became gradually gloomy and cold, with countless storm clouds in his mind.
Although he and Anna didn't have any special relationship, during those few days of close contact, there was a somewhat different feeling between them. He thought that if he distanced himself from her, ignored her, she would be somewhat uncomfortable and try to get close to him, after all, she didn't enter the mansion without a purpose, right?
But for almost half a month, she obediently cooperated, not speaking a word more than necessary. After disappearing for seven days, she seemed to have completely vanished from his world, without any sense of existence. And now she was even friendly with Simon, getting along well! She didn't seem to care about his indifference at all!
This feeling of being ignored made him very uncomfortable.
"Ding!" The elevator door opened.
With a cold face, Giorgio stepped out. At the elevator entrance, a little girl in a pink princess dress stood in astonishment, blocking their way.
She had her hair in two buns, a small backpack on her back, and a lollipop in her hand that was bigger than her face. She had a face like a Barbie doll.
Love's face, chubby and fair, quite adorable and clumsy, especially those shiny black eyes, radiant and clean, very attractive.
Who does she resemble? Why does she feel familiar?
