Chapter 214 Anna had given birth to a child?
Giorgio suddenly realized that he knew nothing about Anna. The following time, the wait became even more anxious and prolonged.
His phone rang countless times with calls from concerned friends like Enrico and Tom, greetings from family members, and important work matters, but Giorgio didn't answer any of them. Having never seen Mr. Vittorio so distracted, Little Tony cautiously approached and cleared his throat: "Mr. Vittorio, don't worry. Rizzo has gone in, and Miss Stefanelli should be fine, I think... you seem a bit too worried." More than just a bit—it was excessive. It was only after Little Tony's reminder that Giorgio realized his thoughts were in disarray and he was anxious. This was not at all like him. He put on a cold face, searching for an excuse for such abnormal behavior: "She went to the snow mountain because of me and Charlie; we bear the responsibility."
Really? Is that all there is to it? Little Tony certainly didn't think so. Some things are better left unsaid; Mr. Vittorio knew what he meant.
About two hours later, the treatment finally ended.
Inside the treatment room.
The gynecologists said, "The main reason the patient fainted was dysmenorrhea. Judging by her condition, she should suffer from secondary dysmenorrhea every month. Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment currently available in medicine, women just have to endure it."
"Yes, she has given birth to a child. It looks like she didn't take care during childbirth, or didn't rest properly during her postpartum period."
"We can only wait for her to wake up to understand the details and then treat her accordingly."
"Rizzo, thank you for today’s hard work."
"It's nothing." Rizzo watched them leave, standing in front of the trash bin with a shocked expression on his face.
Anna had given birth to a child? Whose child? Good heavens, this bombshell—should he tell someone who is far away abroad...
"Rizzo?" Little Tony's voice echoed from outside.
Rizzo snapped back to reality, quickly removed his gloves and protective gear, and walked out, saying to Giorgio and Little Tony:
"Miss Stefanelli is not in danger; she’ll wake up after some rest."
Little Tony let out a sigh of relief: "That's good news." Otherwise, Mr. Vittorio’s ...
Giorgio, however, noticed the solemn expression on Rizzo's face and furrowed his brow: "Is there something wrong?"
"Ah? No." Rizzo hadn’t fully grasped the situation yet and thought it best not to say too much.
Maybe the doctors assumed Anna was Katherine, who had given birth to Charlie, and that's why they spoke like that?
He suggested, "Mr. Vittorio and Charlie have been trapped for a night; if you're feeling unwell, just in case, you can have a comprehensive check-up."
Giorgio cast a profound glance at Rizzo, picked up Charlie, and took him to pediatrics.
"Daddy, I'm fine now, let's go visit 'Mommy'," Charlie said, concerned about Anna.
Giorgio sternly replied, "Your health is important, too. Only if you take good care of yourself first, can you take care of others."
"Oh." Charlie nodded obediently and followed to pediatrics to cooperate with the examination.
Examination results: normal body temperature, overall health normal, everything was fine.
"Yay, that's great! Now I can go be with Anna." Charlie pulled Giorgio and hurried to the hospital ward.
Surprisingly, someone had leaked the news regarding that tough night, and the downstairs area of the hospitalization department was surrounded by reporters and fans.
"Could you please let us see Mr. and Mrs. Vittorio?"
"How is Mrs. Vittorio doing right now?"
"Can you disclose anything?"
The noise and clamor were like of fans chasing stars.
Once, Giorgio loathed the sight of reporters or fans trailing him and Katherine during their outings, and he felt the same now.
"Little Tony, get them out of here."
"Okay, Mr. Vittorio."
Giorgio, along with Charlie, proceeded directly to Anna's hospital room.
Upon entering the room, he saw—
Anna lying asleep in the hospital bed, her eyebrows furrowed in expression of pain.
"It’s hurt… no… please…"
The faint sound of her refusal drifted through the hospital room.
Was she having a nightmare?
Giorgio took quick steps toward her on his long legs.
"Anna? Wake up."
Anna was indeed having a nightmare.
In her dream, it was the domineering imprisonment by a man four years ago and his overpowering strength. She was like a fish stranded on the beach, unable to resist or escape.
Suddenly, someone called her name, and when she opened her eyes, she saw a face identical to the one in her dreams!
Startled and scared, she almost instinctively raised her hand and delivered a slap.
The crisp sound reverberated in the air, heavy with significance.
Charlie, astounded, widened his eyes and opened his mouth in shock.
Oh my god, Anna actually slapped Daddy! Did Anna know how revered Daddy was, that he had never been slapped before?
Giorgio, clearly not anticipating this sudden turn of events, paused for two seconds, then touched his cheek with the tip of his tongue, and stared at Anna with deep, cold eyes:
"Tell me the reasons."
Four simple words, low and magnetic, exerting an invisible force enough to take one's breath away.
Anna felt a twinge in her heart, looked around, and suddenly realized this was reality, not a dream!
She had slapped Giorgio!
"Can you believe it if I say I wasn't fully awake and mistook someone else for you?"
Mistook someone else? He could clearly see that, upon waking up, when she saw him, the fear in her pupils was greater than in a nightmare, full of rejection and aversion, not at all like someone who recognized the wrong person.
Under his scrutiny, Anna felt as though his penetrating gaze could see right through to her soul, causing her to feel uneasy and guilty.
"Ah, it hurts so much," she suddenly exclaimed.
Giorgio glanced at the hand where she was receiving an IV drip—there was no bleeding; he knew she was trying to change the subject, but he didn't make an issue of it and straightened up:
"Lay your hand flat naturally, don't bend it."
Charlie's eyes widened in shock once again:
Daddy actually didn't punish Anna! He wasn't even mean to Anna! This was more surprising than Anna slapping Daddy across the face! Unbelievable!
"Miss Stefanelli, you're awake now," Rizzo entered the room at this moment.
For Anna at this time, it was undoubtedly the perfect topic-changing lifesaver.
She sat up: "Yes, just woke up. I feel a bit of pain in my stomach; could you check it for me, please?"
Rizzo walked over and stood by the bedside: "Menstrual cramps are quite normal, but Miss Stefanelli, Are these cramps a postpartum issue?"
Postpartum!
His words abruptly changed the atmosphere in the room.
Giorgio stared at Anna. She didn't even have a boyfriend before, and she didn’t have sex with Simon, so how could there be a child?
Anna herself was petrified. Facing their gazes, she felt like it would have been better Rizzo he hadn't come at all!
She brazenly denied: "Rizzo, I've never had a child. Oh, are you asking this deliberately because I was outside under the identity of Katherine?"
Rizzo, seeing Anna's bewildered expression, breathed a sigh of relief.
He initially wanted to ask the doctor, but considering Katherine's childbirth was a matter of public record, asking directly might raise suspicions, so he purposely came to question Anna.
Her answer confirmed his previous thought; it was indeed a misunderstanding.
That's good, otherwise how would he explain the situation here to that person?
"Yes. If the menstrual cramps aren't postpartum, theycould be due to her physical condition. Besides, you don't have any other illnesses, but...there is an unexpected condition with your body. Have you noticed anything?"
Unexpected condition?
"What kind of unexpected condition?"
