Chapter 265 You Are a Married Man
Anna was curious.
Charlie said, "My daddy is one of the shareholders of that entertainment company. If you ask him, with just a flick of his finger, he can easily help you resolve any issues."
So, that meant reaching out to Giorgio?
Forget it!
She didn’t want to get entangled with him or let him know she was working there.
Anna said, “Please don't tell your daddy where I work, okay? I can handle it myself.”
“Oh...” Charlie seemed disappointed. He had hoped Anna would take the initiative to speak with his daddy. If his father were to help her out, with one thing leading to another, feelings could develop.
But now... what could he do?
Why were these two adults so infuriating?
Twenty minutes later, the car came to a smooth stop at the villa.
Anna got out of the car.
Charlie, with fingerprint access, easily unlocked the door and led Anna inside.
But then...
As soon as they entered the house, Little Tony rushed over and hurriedly pulled Anna behind the curtains, “Miss Stefanelli, Viviana and Miss Stefanelli are here. Please step aside for a moment.”
The sound of footsteps echoed from the stairs.
Viviana came downstairs to see Charlie, and her face immediately beamed with kindness, “My sweet Charlie is back.”
Charlie was smart enough to know not to reveal Anna's presence at this time and put on an obedient smile, “Yes, Grandmother, I went to kindergarten today.”
“I heard from your daddy. Come, sit with Grandma on the sofa and tell me all about it; how did you find it?”
Charlie, sitting opposite from where Anna was hiding, took Viviana to the sofa and explained, “It’s quite childish there, but the kids are cute. There is a girl I really like.”
“Is that so? Our Charlie knows how to make friends and likes someone already. You must introduce this girl to me one day.” Viviana was very excited; she was glad that her grandson was socializing.
Previously, although Charlie was bright, his autism always caused her some worry, and there was uncertainty about entrusting the Vittorio Group to him in the future.
Now that he was doing better, it was indeed a fortunate turn of events.
She turned to Giorgio beside her and said, “With Charlie getting so much better, you two must also show each other more affection and avoid any problems, especially now during this critical period.”
The successful election drew the envy of many.
It also meant that from now on, even more eyes would be watching the Vittorio Group, allowing no room for mistakes.
Katherine tenderly looped her arm through Giorgio's, smiling,
“Grandma, don't worry. Giorgio and I are getting along very well. There's no need for you to make a special trip.”
Katherine sounded so gentle, and her actions screamed intimacy.
However, Giorgio's expression did not change, and he merely said to Viviana, “It’s getting late; I’ll have Little Tony escort you back.”
Viviana's face fell, “I’ve only just returned to spend time with my dear grandson, and you’re rushing me to leave? Or is it that you two are putting on a show, and once I leave, you'll go back to your separate lives?”
She hit the nail on the head.
Both Giorgio and Katherine were momentarily taken aback.
Katherine was quick to respond, "Grandma, what are you talking about? Giorgio and I really do share a bed. Even when I hurt my hand, it was Giorgio who bandaged it for me. You can ask Tom if you don't believe me."
"Hmph, he's on your side; I wouldn't trust him," Viviana shot back. "Before I die, have a second child! Giorgio grew up alone and became independent and solitary, while Charlie is reticent. Have another child to keep him company.
Moreover, having a second child would be strategically advantageous for us."
It was a command.
Giorgio smiled thinly, "Grandma, do you think children are that easy to come by?"
"Whether they're easy or not isn't my concern; if you try hard enough, it will happen, unless you don't want it to. Are you trying to upset me, is that it?"
Katherine quickly shook her head, "Grandma, you misunderstand Giorgio. What he means is... we've actually been trying, but getting pregnant is a matter of chance. Rest assured; we'll keep at it.
I've even turned down a lot of work recently to stay home with Charlie and prepare for the pregnancy."
"That's good then. I'll take your word for it for now, and I hope to see some progress next month," Viviana said, turning her eyes to Charlie.
"Sweet Charlie, your grandmother is getting old and increasingly wants to see more little ones like you around. How about coming back to the Vittorio mansion to spend a few lively days with me? Otherwise, perhaps Grandma should stay and keep you company for a couple of days?"
Her words were affectionate, seemingly expressing a longing for more grandchildren, but in reality, she likely wanted to take Charlie away so as not to interfere with Giorgio and Katherine's time alone.
Charlie understood this.
If he didn't go with his grandmother, she would stay to supervise Daddy and Mommy, making it inconvenient for Anna to leave.
That situation would be dreadful!
He pursed his lips slightly, "Okay, I've been missing Auntie too and wanting to go back to play."
"Oh my, your aunt will be delighted to know that," Viviana said joyously as she took Charlie and left.
Giorgio and Katherine saw them out, displaying the great affection of a loving family.
Considering what had been said to Katherine earlier, he hadn't objected, and recent news reports portrayed the two as very loving.
It seemed that they were indeed trying for a second child.
Anna's sparkling eyes dimmed.
Outside.
After seeing Viviana and Charlie into the car, the air returned to tranquility.
Katherine asked gently, "Giorgio, what would you like for dinner tonight? I'll cook."
Giorgio responded coolly, "I'm not hungry right now. Go upstairs and tidy up the study for me."
"Okay." Without overthinking, Katherine went upstairs.
As soon as her figure disappeared in the corridor, Giorgio's icy gaze fell on the pair of feet beneath the curtain, "You can come out now."
He knew she was there all along?
And he so naturally diverted Katherine to cover for her?
It seemed that he must face such situations often to do it so calmly; he barely had a change in expression.
Anna felt an inexplicable emotion stirring within her. She suppressed it and stepped out, "I happened to bump into them when I was bringing Charlie back. Sorry, I should be going now."
She started to leave, her pace quickening; she was almost running.
However, as she passed by him, Giorgio reached out and grasped her slender wrist, "I’ll take you home."
The warmth of his palm felt gentle and comforting, causing a unique tenderness to seep through her skin and into her bloodstream.
Anna’s cheeks flushed, and she withdrew her hand, "No need, someone is coming to pick me up."
Right after she spoke, her phone started ringing—it was Simon.
Giorgio saw the caller ID on her phone, and his dark eyes deepened by several shades, "Are you still entangled with Simon?"
His voice was laced with sarcasm.
Anna didn't dare joke about such a matter and denied it, "No, we've already ended things."
"So why is he coming to pick you up, hmm?" He threw another question at her; his tone rising at the end, as if he were demanding an answer.
Anna was speechless.
He was insane!
When did she say it was Simon?
Not wanting to argue further, she said, "What does it have to do with you? I’m leaving."
"Ah!"
The man suddenly pulled her back and pressed her against the wall nearby, "You’re carrying on an ambiguous relationship with Simon but avoiding me as if I’m the plague? Have you forgotten he's a married man? Do you like him that much, that you’d throw away all your dignity?"
Three consecutive questions, sounding both dangerous and repressed.
Their proximity only made the situation more intense.
Had he lost his mind?
This was the living room!
Katherine was still upstairs!
Did he have so little respect for women? Thinking he could manipulate the two sisters at his whim?
Anna, anxious and angry, retorted, "Brother-in-law, don’t forget that you're a married man too, with a child!"
