Chapter 205 Mr. Vittorio's Heartache
"Where are you headed, Miss Stefanelli? I have some free time, so I can give you a lift," Giuseppe asked, his tone seemingly pleasant.
His words always sounded so nice, and his attitude always remained polite, friendly, and gentlemanly. In fact, he saved her before and today he provided such a powerful video to help clarify things for her. She didn’t have any defenses against him. However, it's better to avoid unnecessary trouble, especially in these last two days. She doesn't want to stir up any more trouble.
"Thank you, I'll just go to the department store ahead to relax and walk around."
Giuseppe smiled graciously, opened the car door, got out, and gestured to the secretary to drive away, then walked towards her.
"I'll join you for a stroll."
Anna smiled and enquired, “Is there something you would like to discuss with?” Isn't it nerve-wracking walking together like this?
Giuseppe with his hands in his pockets, approached step by step. "Nothing much, just wanted to tell you something about Giorgio. Do you know how Giorgio developed his stomach problem?"
Anna shook her head. She wasn't Katherine, how would she know such detailed things?
Next, Giuseppe told her a lot about Giorgio.
He said, "Giorgio is not actually the grandmother's biological child. Grandfather had a close encounter during a business trip, met a woman who took care of him, they developed feelings over time. But when grandfather returned home, grandmother couldn't accept that woman's existence and refused to let her come to Crownhaven. That woman, unaware that grandfather was married and the head of the Vittorio Group, broke off the relationship after discovering the truth."
"But nine months later, she gave birth to Giorgio and died due to complications. That's when grandfather took Giorgio in."
“Initially, Giorgio faced rejection by the legitimate family members and grandmother disliked him. However, Giorgio's IQ test score as a child was higher than anyone else in the Vittorio family, and his horoscope promised good fortune. Grandmother developed a liking for him and grandfather favored him. Only then did Giorgio have a position in the Vittorio family.”
“However, apart from the youngest sister and my father, every uncle and cousin held resentment in their hearts. They constantly ostracized him. In such a hostile environment, Giorgio had to endure much more hardship than anyone else. He never played with toys during his childhood, never had leisure, all his time was spent on studying, and his stomach issues developed from a young age.”
“Perhaps, in the eyes of outsiders, Giorgio appeared glamorous and superior, but in my eyes, he is someone worthy of respect and admiration. I shared all of this with you because I felt that you have been going through a difficult time recently and it would be good to have a different perspective and understand Giorgio more."
Anna found it hard to process these extensive revelations until Giuseppe left.
She hadn't expected that Giorgio, born into privilege, had such a heart-wrenching past. No wonder he was so cold and ruthless. It turned out that this world had never shown him any tenderness.
Even his seemingly doting grandmother only cared about his horoscope.
It seemed he was valued because of his horoscope, while she was abandoned in the countryside due to hers. They did seem to share some kind of fate.
When Anna finished shopping and returned to the hospital room, she looked at the bed.
Giorgio's gaze was no longer confrontational.
In these last two days, let's get along well and part on good terms!
"I'm going to knit a scarf for Charlie; let me know if you're uncomfortable with anything," she said.
Seated by the window, she organized the yarn.
The sunlight was just right, casting a serene glow on her delicate and unblemished face.
Giorgio furrowed his brow slightly. When she left earlier, she seemed to owe him an explanation, but now her attitude had changed?
*Ding* His phone chimed with a message.
It was from Little Tony, who was concerned about her being recognized in public due to recent news and had assigned someone to follow her.
[Mr. Vittorio, Miss Stefanelli has not encountered any danger along the way. She met Giuseppe and chatted briefly before going to the mall and returning.]
She met Giuseppe?
So, is her good mood because of Giuseppe?
Thinking this through, did she give him the cold shoulder earlier because she saw Giuseppe clarifying things for her in a video and felt he wasn't on her side?
It seemed Giuseppe held a significant place in her heart, shining brightly.
Giorgio coldly placed his phone aside and took the documents to work on them.
Anna finished knitting the scarf and noticed him handling work.
"You're unwell; take a break. There's no need to work for now," she suggested.
His slender fingers flipped through the documents, he completely ignored her, maintaining his cold demeanor.
Anna wasn’t sure what his problem was. She took the initiative to talk to him, and he remained so arrogant?
Well, he lacked love while growing up, so she should try to understand.
She lowered her head and continued knitting the scarf.
The matter of the news was like a passing wind.
It's true that the internet has no memory.
At night, Edith came to the ward carrying fresh soup. "Giorgio, I made nutritious soup for you."
"Hmm, just leave it there," Giorgio didn't refuse.
Edith glanced at Anna, thought of something, and said, "Giorgio, I misunderstood Miss Stefanelli before. It was a special situation, and I spoke on your behalf. Miss Stefanelli, I'm sorry, it was unintentional. I hope you're not angry?"
Her apologetic tone and sincere attitude were as genuine as they could be.
Tsk tsk.
She possessed remarkable acting talent; it would be such a waste if she didn't try to be an actress and compete for Best Actress.
Anna scoffed in her heart, but she didn't intend to show it on the surface. She didn't want to make Giorgio uncomfortable or start another conflict.
She calmly replied, "It's okay, it's all in the past. Thank you for bringing the nutritious soup, I was busy with something and didn't have time to go home and cook."
Edith was shocked. Has Katherine changed? Why is she suddenly so easy to talk to?
Recognizing that the news was currently not favorable for seeking attention, she didn't say anything else.
"Thank you, Miss Stefanelli, for being so understanding. Take good care of Giorgio. I'll go home after work," Edith said before leaving.
"Hmm." Anna watched her go.
Continue working on what is in your hands.
Throughout, there was never a hint of unhappiness on his face.
The previous Katherine, even if Edith approached him, would always argue with Edith in Katherine's identity. He despised it.
And now, Anna, being so calm and obedient, for some reason, he also felt dissatisfied in his heart.
Damn it.
"Daddy, Anna." Soft-spoken voice rang out.
Giorgio raised his eyes and saw Charlie running in, his eyebrows furrowed.
"How did you know I was here?"
Little Tony, who came in a step behind, apologized nervously, "I'm sorry, Mr. Vittorio. It's Charlie... It's my fault after all."
Initially, Charlie made a fuss about going to the company to find Mr. Vittorio. He said Mr. Vittorio wasn't there and was stopped multiple times. Who would have expected that Charlie misunderstood, saying that Mr. Vittorio left him alone on a business trip and wasn’t accompanying him on his birthday. Anna wasn’t with him either. He cried uncontrollably tears and sobs.
Little Tony couldn't bear it and he brought him to the hospital so that he could understand what was happening.
Giorgio knew his son's personality. If he wanted to know the location, even if Little Tony didn't say anything, he could find out.
He said, "It's okay."
Little Tony finally let out a sigh of relief and stepped back.
Charlie stood by the bed, checking Giorgio's body.
"Daddy, are you okay? I consider myself a mature kid now. If you're not feeling well, why didn't you tell me? I could've been there for you."
Looking at his obviously teary eyes, Giorgio sarcastically remarked, "A mature kid in your thoughts cries often. Charlie, you never used to cry before, so where did you learn it from?"
Charlie pouted his little mouth. Why did he say it out loud? It would be embarrassing if Anna found out he cried.
He wanted to say something but suddenly realized—
