Chapter 409 Giorgio, Terminate the Pregnancy
Giorgio turned at the sound, his eyes landing on the red mark below Anna's neckline. His expression darkened.
"Guess I overestimated you."
Anna noticed his reaction and glanced at the mark, feeling a tightness in her chest.
Except for that night four years ago and the night at Vista Heights, she'd never been with a man. She wanted a lifetime of love with just one person.
The pain Giuseppe caused her last night was unforgettable.
'If Giorgio truly loves me and doesn't mind, I'll take the step! No way I'm helping a rapist recover!' she thought.
With that, Anna took a deep breath and gathered her courage.
"Sorry, something happened last night. Despite some reasons, the fact is, I had sex with Giuseppe."
The last sentence was almost choked out, bitter and painful.
Giorgio's face turned icy, staring at her like he wanted to drill a hole through her brain.
"Some reasons? What reasons? Didn't I tell you to be cautious with men? Cut ties with him. I'll handle it. But you couldn't wait to see him yesterday, throwing me aside. Are you sure there are reasons? Not just promiscuity?"
His words were sharp.
Just thinking of her and Giuseppe in bed made his chest feel like it was going to explode!
Anna was provoked.
What she went through last night was a nightmare, and the belt marks on her body might scar forever.
She wanted to tell him, to lean on his shoulder.
But to him, she was just 'promiscuous.'
She smiled bitterly.
"Yeah. Mr. Vittorio, your summary is spot on. I never thought I'd be that kind of woman."
Just as he was fuming, Anna suddenly added, "Giorgio, I'm pregnant."
Her small voice was clear and powerful.
Giorgio was stunned.
Then he looked at her in disbelief.
"What did you say? Pregnant?"
'Was it Giuseppe's? Or mine?' he thought.
Anna looked at him, scared to lie but desperate to know how he felt and what he'd do.
She said, "Yes, the night at Vista Heights, yours."
Giorgio's gaze narrowed, pupils dilating as conflicting emotions surged through him, a turbulent storm within.
The next second, he grabbed her.
"To the hospital!"
He moved quickly, his grip strong.
Anna followed, unsure of his true feelings.
'What was he going to do?' she thought.
Thinking of the plan she had agreed on, she said, "Giorgio, I don't want to go to the hospital. If someone takes pictures, it'll be terrible. If you don't believe me, get a doctor to come here."
Giorgio stopped.
After a moment, he took her back to his own place, pulled out his phone, and called the family doctor.
He didn't believe she was pregnant.
What was more, he couldn't believe she was carrying his child.
Ten minutes later, the doctor confirmed, "Mr. Vittorio, she is indeed pregnant, more than three months along."
Giorgio's brows furrowed. Three months ago, it was indeed that night at Vista Heights.
So, he was going to be a dad again.
And the mother was Anna, the girl he admired.
Giorgio's heart surged with emotions he'd never felt, not even when he found out about Charlie.
He looked deeply at Anna.
"Stay here. I'm going out with the doctor for a moment."
Then, he strode out.
The doctor followed.
Downstairs, Giorgio ordered, "Don't tell anyone about this for now. If there's a leak, you know the consequences."
Before resolving this, he didn't want any harm to come to her or the baby.
The doctor looked tense and bowed his head.
"Yes, Mr. Vittorio, I won't say a word. But..." He hesitated.
Giorgio shot him a glance. "Speak!"
The doctor shivered.
"Miss Stefanelli has only one single kidney and a bleeding disorder. You know, in normal people, blood clots after bleeding, but in those with bleeding disorders, it doesn't. Childbirth involves heavy bleeding, and it can't be controlled. Miss Stefanelli can't give birth. It's a one-way ticket to the other side for her if she goes down that road."
Giorgio's eyes widened with shock, his world having been shifting as he processed the news of Anna carrying his child, only to be blindsided by the revelation that she might not survive childbirth.
His tone turned razor-sharp. "If you can't save them both, you can consider yourself gone."
The doctor was so scared he knelt.
"Mr. Vittorio, it's impossible. This disease can't be changed by anyone in medical history. I really can't do it. Whether you're angry or not, I must advise you. Miss Stefanelli is very weak, and she's been pregnant for over three months. It's best to terminate the pregnancy soon. The longer it takes, the more harmful it will be to her."
"Get out!"
Giorgio didn't want to hear more.
He walked to the cabinet, poured a glass of red wine, and drank it in one gulp.
Then he lit a cigarette, letting the smoke invade his nose and throat, feeling extremely agitated.
This child came too unexpectedly.
He was unprepared, and the situation didn't allow it.
But if a child was not able to come into this world, it was a blow to a father.
He took a deep drag of smoke, then exhaled.
Thick smoke swirled, filling his eyes, deep and cold.
In the room, Anna waited for half an hour, but Giorgio didn't come back.
She found it strange. What was he discussing with the doctor?
It must be about the "child."
For some reason, she cared a lot about how he would handle this "child," even expecting and longing for his reaction.
She got up and walked out.
She found him standing in the hallway smoking.
The entire hallway was filled with smoke, and he was shrouded in it, tall and slender.
That face, those eyes, were obscured by too much smoke; she couldn't see his emotions.
"Mr. Vittorio?" she called nervously.
Giorgio saw her come out, immediately took the cigarette out of his mouth, pressed it into the ashtray, extinguished it, and said, "It's smoky here, go back inside."
It was a command.
Anna instinctively retreated.
Standing in the room, she couldn't help but think he didn't want her to smell the smoke because he was afraid it would affect the child.
So, he cared about this child and decided to take responsibility.
For a moment, she felt guilty.
She had lied to him on Elena's advice, wanting to see if he would take on everything and give her a happy life.
If he knew the truth, he would surely be very angry.
When she was deep in thoughts, footsteps sounded.
Anna came back to her senses and saw Giorgio walking over.
He seemed to have washed his hands, rinsed his mouth, and even took off his suit jacket, wearing only a white shirt and black trousers, looking very clean and elegant.
Only he could wear clothes so uniquely.
She took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"Giorgio, actually, I..."
"Anna, abort the child!" Giorgio suddenly said.
His voice was firm and cold.
Anna was stunned, looking at him in disbelief.
"What? What did you say?"
