Chapter 206 Cook for him
His body trembled, and even standing upright became a challenge!
Anna's expression tightened.
Fortunately, Little Tony, who received the call, rushed forward to help:"Mr. Vittorio, the car is ready, Miss Stefanelli, let's go."
"Very well."
With the help of two people, Giorgio was carefully guided into the car, leaving him no chance to refuse.
Leaning against the car seat, he appeared pale, his forehead dripping with sweat, and even his usually elegant eyebrows were furrowed in pain.
Anna handed him a tissue to wipe his forehead. He turned away and said,"Put it away."
What was he being so distant and dismissive at a time like this? What had she done to provoke him?
"What’s wrong with you? Why are you so cold to me when I’m trying to take care of you? I don’t care about anything else,” Anna’s voice grew louder, a mix of frustration and complaint.
Little Tony in the front seat, looked rather uneasy.
“Miss Stefanelli, no one has ever dared to speak to Mr. Vittorio like that, especially when he’s unwell. Can you please be more gentle?” he implored.
Inside the car, Giorgio ignored Anna, still leaning against the seat, eyes closed, hands clutching his abdomen in pain.
Giorgio's lips, which tightened into a line, revealed his pain at the moment.
Anna’s anger was met with silence, leaving her feeling as if she were shouting into the void. Why should she care for a patient who clearly didn’t appreciate her efforts?
She turned her gaze away and stared out of the car window at the lights and neon signs, deliberately avoiding his discomfort.
The car’s interior grew eerily quiet, the atmosphere stifling.
Little Tony drove them to the hospital at the fastest speed he could manage.
As soon as they stopped in the underground parking lot, Edith and Tom rushed over.
"Giorgio, is your stomach acting up again?"
"Giorgio, are you okay? You're sweating so much, let me wipe it for you."
"Come, let's go up to the examination room first."
The two of them rushed to support Giorgio upstairs.
Throughout it all, Giorgio never rejected Edith’s caring gestures or displayed coldness, nor did he spare a glance for Anna.
Anna stood alone in the spacious and oppressive underground parking lot, feeling like a discarded rag doll.
Well, with so many people caring for him and worrying about him, why would he need her?
Perhaps, as he said, he was no longer interested in her. After her clear rejection, he might not want her around, especially since he now had to face Edith in the hospital. He deliberately distanced himself from Anna and acted coldly to maintain that distance from her.
"Miss Stefanelli, why are you still here? I searched everywhere and couldn't find you. You scared me," Little Tony's voice broke through the silence.
Anna snapped back to reality and looked at Little Tony. "Oh, I just received a phone call. Is Mr. Vittorio in the examination room?"
Little Tony nodded. "Yeah, the doctor said it's an injury to his stomach. He had some alcohol tonight, which triggered acute gastroenteritis."
An injury to his stomach? Anna’s thoughts went back to the spicy noodles she had prepared.
Little Tony's next words confirmed her suspicions.
He said,"After eating the noodles you made, Mr. Vittorio vomited several times, and his appetite decreased. He didn't feel like eating anything. We didn’t expected it to be so serious."
Anna realized that it was indeed her fault. She was just too angry at that time and added a lot of seasoning without thinking about the serious consequences.
"Well, I'm sorry. It shouldn't be a big problem, right?"
"Yeah, with Tom and Edith, and the specialist, it won't be a major concern. Miss Stefanelli don't blame yourself too much. Just don't do it again next time," Little Tony consoled.
But to Anna, those words felt more like reproach.
“I did have feelings for you, but since you're married, I won’t cross any boundaries or cause you any trouble. I genuinely wanted to take care of you and see you happy and fulfilled. Giorgio, please don't distance yourself from me, okay?"
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.
Giorgio disliked seeing women cry, so he reached out and patted her head. "What are you thinking? I'm just not used to being taken care of, and I've always treated you the same way as Beatrice."
Treated the same as Beatrice. He truly only saw her as a sister.
Feeling disheartened but unable to express it, Edith embraced him. "Well, thank you, Giorgio."
Outside the door, Anna finally finished making the soup and arrived. As soon as she reached the doorway, she saw Edith throwing herself into Giorgio's arms.
She paused in her steps...
