Chapter 16-17 (Revised) Stay Tonight
Charlie coldly turned his head away, "I don't want to talk."
"Well, that's quite stubborn." Anna spoke teasingly. The large amount he had spoken was indeed quite a lot, much more than she had ever expected.
Charlie remained silent.
"Then promise Auntie to talk more in the future, okay? Your voice is super amazing, it's such a waste if you don't use it! If God hears your voice and makes a wish, they'll definitely fulfill it."
Charlie glanced at her, "Childish."
Okay.
He was just like his father.
Anna continued to find ways to play games with Charlie and encourage him to speak.
The whole day passed quickly, and before they knew it, it was already half past five, time to pick up Penny from school.
Anna checked the time, Giorgio hadn't returned yet, and she couldn't leave Charlie alone.
She called Little Tony, "Mr. Tony, when will Mr. Vittorio be back? I have something to take care of and need to go home."
Charlie, who was playing with some blue kinetic sand, heard this and his little face instantly drooped, sulking without saying a word.
He grabbed a handful of sand and started scattering it everywhere.
Anna was taken aback and immediately put her phone aside, "Hey, Charlie, what's wrong? Don't scatter it, it'll hurt if it gets in your eyes."
Charlie didn't listen, "If you leave, I'll scatter, I'll scatter."
Ah, so that's the reason. Her heart melted.
Anna patiently comforted him, "Auntie has something to take care of at home, so I have to go back tonight, but I promise I'll come back to accompany you tomorrow. I swear, please be good."
"No, I don't want to." Charlie kept scattering the sand, it was all over his head and clothes, his emotions were heightened. He looked like he would break down any second now. That scared Anna. Giorgio had told her this could happen, but she found herself ill-equipped to deal with it.
Anna knew that she couldn't give in to a child's tantrum, but Charlie was a special case. If things continued like this, he might have a breakdown.
Helplessly, she said, "Okay, okay, Auntie won't leave, I'll stay tonight to accompany you, just calm down."
Only then did Charlie stop his little hands and threw himself into her arms, clinging to her like a tailless koala.
As if he was afraid that she would deceive him.
Anna's heart was touched, she had never thought that her son, whom she hadn't seen in six years, would depend on her so much and stick to her. Was this what everyone talked about? The bond of a mother and a son? The bond of...blood.
Her emotions became unusually soft as she picked up his tiny body and had to call Sara to ask for help in picking up Penny.
On the other end, Little Tony called the Bossman.
Little Tony said, "She knows that Charlie doesn't want her to leave, so she deliberately made a phone call in front of Charlie to stay. She's really cunning."
Giorgio's face remained inscrutable, a chilling atmosphere surrounded him.
He didn't say anything, just instructed Little Tony to keep driving, then dialed Katherine's number.
In his opinion, Katherine was gentle and refined, as well as Charlie's biological mother. If she spent more time with Charlie, he would naturally not be close to Anna. Giorgio had always found it strange that Katherine barely ever spent any time with their son. There was never a gentle touch, never an affectionate look for him from his mother. He knew it affected Charlie greatly.
The call couldn't connect.
Is she that busy with work?
With a cold expression, angered by her callousness, he turned off his phone. But it wasn't the first time she had become unreachable. He dared say it wouldn't be the last.
Half an hour later, Giorgio arrived at the villa.
Anna had just finished bathing and feeding Charlie. She was tidying up the dishes when she saw Giorgio return. She greeted him, "Charlie is upstairs, everything went smoothly today."
Giorgio took off his suit jacket and threw it aside without saying a word to her, giving her the cold shoulder.
If it wasn't for the little cutie, he would have thought she wanted to talk to him, right?
But when living under the same roof, he had no choice but to lower his head.
Anna spoke up again, "Um, there are two things I want to tell you. Tomorrow, I want to take Charlie to the mall to buy clothes. At his age, he should try different kinds of clothes that belong to kids. Also, black clothes are not good for his condition. He's a child. Let him have colors."
"And, I might have to stay here tonight because I previously said I would leave, but Charlie threw a tantrum. I'm afraid he'll have a meltdown like last night, so I agreed."
She explained cautiously, afraid that Giorgio would misunderstand her intentions.
In fact, Giorgio had already misunderstood. With a cold gaze fixed on her, he said coldly, "Anna, always remember the conditions you agreed to last night. Don't play tricks in front of me."
Anna gazed at him with a million questions in her eyes.
What tricks did she play? Could he stop giving her that kind of attitude every time?
So irritating.
Giorgio no longer paid her any attention, coldly walked past her, and sat down at the dining table.
He had been working all day, had a mediocre lunch, and now there were still Charlie's leftover dishes on the table. It wasn't a luxurious hotel meal, but it emitted a faint, appetizing aroma.
He looked at Anna with a commanding tone, "My meal."
Anna raised her eyebrows and instantly understood what he meant. She laughed, "Sorry, Mr. Giorgio, I'm here to take care of Charlie, not to be your chef. I only made Charlie's meal."
In other words, none for him.
Hmph, if he looks down on her, she won't feed him!
This woman actually dared to treat him like this?
Fine, quite daring.
"Since that's the case, go clean the entire villa, or else you won't be allowed to eat or rest."
What? What was this? Cinderella?
The entire villa was 500 square meters, with three floors in total. He wanted her to clean it alone? Was he trying to kill her?
Anna wanted to protest.
"But..." She began.
Giorgio raised an eyebrow, "What? Didn't you say you're here to take care of Charlie? Charlie lives here, so hygiene must meet standards. Shouldn't you be the one cleaning? Any complaints?"
His tone carried an implicit pressure. Oh, he loved this. He wanted to torture her.
Anna knew this was unfair. She was Charlie's caretaker, not Giorgio's housekeeper. But she knew arguing with him meant he could keep her from seeing Charlie. And believe it or not, she had come to love him in the few days she had known. Call it a mother's love, if you will.
What a dig her own grave situation. This is it!
She bit her lip in frustration, angrily picked up the cleaning tools, and started cleaning.
Giorgio watched her busy figure and a chill smile curled up at the corners of his lips.
Challenging his authority would bring consequences.
After finishing some work-related matters in the study, Giorgio went to the bedroom and comforted Charlie to sleep.
As for Anna, he certainly didn't let Charlie know that he punished her.
Charlie lay in his arms, his small voice said, "I like her, you won't let her leave, right?"
Giorgio's eyes narrowed slightly, his warm and broad palm resting on his son's back, as he casually asked, "Why do you like her?"
Charlie said, "I don't know," he said truthfully, "She's like a mom."
Giorgio frowned, "You already have a mother, Charlie."
Charlie shrugged.
Katherine rarely ever spent time with him. Giorgio was aware this bothered Charlie. He would throw a tantrum every time he saw another child with his mother. This had even made play dates difficult.
"But Anna is nice to me." The child was looking at his father with such intense emotion, Giorgio was taken aback. "She takes care of me, Dad."
Indeed, he had misplaced his emotional attachment.
The night breeze was cool.
But Anna didn't feel cold at all, she was even sweating.
She experienced for the first time what it meant to be happy in a wealthy family.
The third-floor open-air swimming pool and gym, the second-floor study and home theater, the first-floor living room, guest room, kitchen, laundry room, and the garden... everything was there.
It took a full 9 hours until 4 in the morning for her to finish cleaning.
Damn capitalists!
She cursed in her heart while going upstairs. As she passed by Charlie's room, she walked over, gently pushing the door open.
'Creek' the sound of the door opening echoed.
Being a light sleeper with a high level of alertness, Giorgio instantly woke up.
After distinguishing the footsteps of a woman, his lips curled up coldly in the dark.
Was she eager to climb into bed now after using Charlie to stay during the day?
Climb into bed?
If Anna knew what he was thinking, she would definitely knock him on the head. What the hell was she doing in a big bed with him?
He was lying there, his face calm, with fine and long eyelashes. Even while sleeping, he exuded innate nobility.
He actually slept with Charlie?
Unexpectedly, he was quite responsible when it came to children. And he was a good father, it seemed. He really did care about his son. Their son.
Anna didn't want to wake Charlie, so she tiptoed closer to the bed, pushed the door gently, and entered the room.
Afraid of waking Charlie, she lowered her footsteps, silently reached the bedside, covered Charlie with the blanket, and then checked the mosquito repellent to make sure everything was fine before quietly leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
She wanted to kiss her son while he slept, but with the man in the room, she restrained herself.
After closing the door, Giorgio's cold eyes opened, filled with a deep sense of surprise.
He had purposely pretended to sleep to see what tricks Anna would play, but she was just here to take care of Charlie? Her gaze didn't even linger on him.
What was she like?
