Chapter 361 Leave Him, I'll Give You
Giorgio texted: [Considering you claimed you hold no significance to me, do you honestly believe I would vent my frustrations on Charlie just because of you?]
Even through the screen, the mere text exuded an unmistakable sense of coldness, conveying an aura of detachment and unfeelingness.
Anna felt extremely awkward. Yes, why would she think he would be affected by her matters and take it out on Charlie?
Once again, she was being self-righteous and overly sentimental.
She turned off her phone, covered herself with the blanket, and went straight to sleep.
Unexpectedly, another text message came through.
Anna ignored it for a full five seconds before reaching out, grabbing her phone, and bringing it under the covers. Then, her beautiful eyes widened in surprise.
It was another text from Giorgio: [I can give you the house. Go there tomorrow.]
The incredulous question hung in the air: He actually wanted to give her the house?
But that wasn't the crux of it.
Anna's fingers danced across her phone screen as she composed her response: [Giorgio, I didn't text you to ask for the house again. I just wanted to acknowledge my mistake and clarify the situation. I don't want that house anymore; I'm looking for another one.]
Sending the message, Anna was enveloped in a whirlwind of emotions.
Surprisingly, he had been furious in the morning and had previously told Giuseppe it was impossible. Now he was willing to lend her the house?
It was frustrating because she didn't want anything from him, nor did she need it.
However, the text seemed to disappear into the void, with no reply at all. She had even waited for a message from Little Tony!
Suddenly, a text reply came from Giorgio: [Anna, the address is XXXXX…]
Anna was instantly incredulous. Had Giorgio gone mad?
Not only was Anna shocked, but even Little Tony, who received a call in the middle of the night to delay matters, was confused.
The significance of that house to Giorgio was one thing, but considering how angry Giorgio had been with Anna in the office today, Little Tony thought Giorgio wanted to strangle Anna.
And now he was suddenly giving Anna that house? What made Giorgio change his mind so suddenly?
The next morning, promptly at eight o'clock, Anna arrived at the studio and told Lucia about Giorgio agreeing to lend the house.
Lucia's brows furrowed with concern as she processed the unexpected turn of events. "Why do you think he suddenly changed his mind? I feel like something's off. Could there be some trouble waiting for us?" Lucia couldn't figure out why the usually cold and noble Giorgio had such a sudden change in attitude.
"Lucia, I don't want to take that house. Can we find another way?" Anna felt things weren't that simple and said seriously, "I've already planned it out. Isn't there another ordinary house around that area? Although it's simpler and more run-down, we can spend some time fixing it up and creating a garden. It can achieve the same effect."
Lucia sighed and responded, "A temporarily fixed-up house will show signs of renovation and won't achieve our original rustic style. Planting flowers and plants will also take time to grow. And that house's yard has a thousand-year-old locust tree, which is unique. My passion for that house is like a couple's devotion to each other in love. Besides, do you have any deep-seated hatred with Giorgio?"
Anna found herself slightly stunned as memories flooded back, memories of that time in prison.
Back then, she was alone, desperate, and in pain, confined in a cell. The collapse and confusion she felt were unlike any despair she had ever experienced. It was as if the entire world had crumbled, leaving no light or hope.
She never expected him to save her, and he indeed had no obligation to do so. But, even though he was just a few dozen meters away, he didn't even look at her, as if she were some filthy, shameful person.
His actions were like pouring salt on her wounds, causing her immense pain.
Anna just shook her head and replied, "Nothing. Since you're so insistent, let's go and see."
She wanted to see what Giorgio really meant.
At exactly nine o'clock in the morning, Anna and Lucia arrived outside the house.
The house was purely rustic, with every material made using traditional craftsmanship.
Inside the yard, the flowers and plants were vibrant and beautiful. An old well sat in the corner, and a wooden fence surrounded the yard, giving it a very homely feel.
The most attractive feature was the thousand-year-old locust tree on the right side of the yard. Its lush leaves and thick trunk shaded the house, giving it a unique, ancient charm.
Everything seemed like a paradise, perfect in every way.
This house was indeed worth Lucia's obsession.
Anna finally understood why Lucia was so insistent on this house.
"Anna, Anna," a polite voice called out.
Anna turned her head and saw Little Tony and Giorgio getting out of the car.
As always, Giorgio was dressed in a custom-made black suit, looking extremely cold and handsome.
Just seeing him made people feel intimidated.
Lucia greeted politely, "Giorgio, long time no see."
Giorgio nodded expressionlessly in response, then his cold gaze fell on Anna, his eyes deep and inscrutable.
Anna felt very nervous under his gaze and tried to muster her voice, "Giorgio, you agreed to give the house. Have you decided on the conditions? How about this, since you're one of our studio's investors, once our work takes off, we'll give you shares."
She hoped to cooperate on financial terms.
However, Giorgio looked down at her face and asked, "Do you think I need money?"
His question left Anna speechless. He was the president of the Vittorio Group, immensely wealthy and powerful. How could he need money?
Anna promptly replied, "No, I didn't think that. I just can't use your house for free."
"Very well," Giorgio said, then told Little Tony and Lucia, "You two leave. I want to talk to her alone."
Alone? Little Tony was curious but didn't dare ask more. He quickly left with Lucia.
Lucia was very worried. "What does he want to do to Anna? No, I need to go back."
"Don't worry, Lucia. Giorgio won't do anything to Anna." Even with yesterday's anger, Giorgio didn't do anything. Instead, he gave Anna the house today. What could he do to her?
He said deeply, "Anna is the only woman who has made Giorgio lose control and step into this house. You should understand what that means."
Lucia was silent. So, was it really as Enrico said? Giorgio had feelings for Anna...
Inside the yard, Giorgio sat on a vintage chair, exuding nobility and elegance. Just sitting there, he was like a perfect painting that couldn't be ignored.
His extraordinary demeanor and deep, inscrutable nature made it impossible for Anna to guess his thoughts.
Her palms grew sweaty as she mustered the courage to speak. "Giorgio, what do you want to talk about?"
Giorgio looked at her for about five seconds and then asked, high and mighty, "Why are you with Giuseppe? Leave him, and I can give you everything you need."
With those words, Anna's body trembled violently! She finally understood why he was sitting here, offering her the house.
It all came back to yesterday when she had asked him for the house. He accused her of using him, treating all men as tools. He believed she was with Giuseppe for improper reasons; otherwise, she wouldn't have come to him.
So, he saw her as a woman who clung to power and offered her the house, telling her he could give her what she wanted if she left Giuseppe.
How ridiculous.
