Chapter 87 A new truth
Simon, on the other hand, remained naturally elegant. "You came to visit Penny since you knew she was sick?"
"Yes," Giorgio said as he entered with the gift.
It was a large box containing a Barbie doll that could change outfits, something all girls loved.
Penny exclaimed with delight, "I love it! Now I have something to play with!"
Simon sat down and wiped the cream off her mouth, gently saying, "Thank Giorgio quickly. He's so busy, yet he still came to visit our little princess. You have to stay strong and overcome your illness, do you understand?"
"Hmm hmm!" Penny nodded, her eyes shining like a galaxy. She looked at Giorgio and said, "Thank you, Giorgio."
Her friendly and polite demeanor made Giorgio feel like a guest, or rather, an outsider.
Giorgio felt a tight knot in his heart. He never expected Anna to have such charm that, even after such an incident, Simon still loved and pursued her.
It seemed that her appeal went beyond just him, attracting other men as well.
"Simon, I can't hang the clothes dry, they won't fit," a voice came from the small balcony inside.
Giorgio furrowed his brow.
Simon?
What was this nickname? It was soft and delicate, melting the listener's heart.
Seeming to understand his confusion, Simon chuckled helplessly and said, "Anna is very shy. I suggested she change her nickname, and this is what she came up with. Stay with Penny, I'll go help her."
With that, he went inside.
Giorgio was left standing there, lost in thought.
Io was speechless.
"Uncle, come here," Penny beckoned with her little finger.
Giorgio snapped out of his thoughts and leaned in, listening to Penny's soft words in his ear.
"Uncle, do you actually like my mommy? I see the dark expression on your face, it seems like jealousy," she said mischievously.
Jealousy? Giorgio's eyebrows furrowed. Jealous of Anna? That's impossible!
He just felt that she could have that kind of relationship with him and still not care about being involved with Simon. It was as if she had no heart.
He replied, "You've mistaken, I like women who are polite and devoted, unlike her."
"Oh, but being polite and devoted doesn't compare to my mommy's charm, right?" Penny teased, blinking her eyes. "Uncle, good looks are common, but an interesting soul is rare. Admitting you like my mommy isn't something to be ashamed of."
Penny seemed confident in her thoughts and believed in her mother's charm.
Giorgio chuckled lightly.
Charm and an interesting soul, huh?
"Your mommy doesn't have an interesting soul; she has thorns, which aren't likable," he thought. At least, most men preferred gentleness.
"Hmph," Penny wasn't satisfied with his answer and turned her head unhappily, giving Giorgio a light tap on the back of his head.
Giorgio touched her head, wanting to say something, but then footsteps echoed.
Anna and Simon came out from inside.
Giorgio subconsciously looked up with his deep and handsome eyes and saw...
The delicate hands of the woman were intertwined with Simon's, her posture elegant and sweet.
In the midst of the chaos that surrounded his thoughts, a sudden revelation washed over Giorgio like a tidal wave. It hit him with both intensity and clarity, leaving him breathless. The reason he felt jealous of Simon, the unsettling emotions that plagued him whenever he saw Anna with her boyfriend, it all became crystal clear.
"I like her," Giorgio whispered to himself, the realization echoing in the silence of his mind. "I like Anna."
The truth struck him like a lightning bolt. He had been denying his feelings for her for so long, burying them deep within himself, afraid of the implications they might hold. But now, there was no denying it any longer. His heart had chosen, and it had chosen Anna.
With that realization, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. His jealousy was born not just from concern for his friendship with Anna, but from the pangs of unrequited affection. He had been silently yearning for her, wanting to be the one who made her smile, who held her hand, and who shared her life.
But as he acknowledged his feelings, fear and doubt crept in. Anna was with Simon, and she seemed genuinely happy with him. She would never want him. Especially, not after how he had been treating her.
Giorgio found himself grappling with his emotions, torn between what his heart desired and what he believed was the right thing to do. He knew he had to confront his feelings, but he also couldn't risk losing the precious bond he shared with Anna.
As he saw them together, laughing and happy, a mixture of emotions washed over him – joy for Anna's happiness, and a twinge of sadness for his own unrequited feelings. He tried to push aside his jealousy and be happy for her, but it wasn't easy.
Facing his gaze, she said, "Mr. Vittorio, luckily you are here today. Could you watch over Penny for me? Simon and I are going out to buy a wedding gift for you. On your wedding day, I will take care of Penny, so I won't come along."
"Penny, listen to Mr. Vittorio, mommy and your future dad will be back soon," she added.
After speaking, Anna quickly pulled Simon and left.
How excellent.
They asked him to watch over Penny while they held hands and went shopping? And they would buy a wedding gift for him?
Giorgio's grip on the fruit tightened, veins popping out. He only heard a crunch as the apple in his hand shattered...
Penny raised her chin arrogantly. "Hmph, you're clearly insanely jealous and yet won't admit it."
Giorgio remained silent.
