Chapter 510 Coaxing Mr. Vittorio?
"What's the problem?" Anna frowned curiously, worried.
Giorgio explained, "The video evidence can only prove that Katherine bribed the doctor, but it doesn't show actual murder. Even if convicted, she would only be sentenced to three to six months."
He added, "Moreover, with Katherine's connections, there might still be a way out. So I suggest we hold off for now, gather direct evidence of her crimes, and then deal with it all at once."
In other words, Katherine would still be at large for now.
Giorgio's words made the light in Anna's eyes dim.
Committing a crime was so easy. But bringing a murderer to justice was so hard.
"Don't worry, I'll have someone investigate further," Giorgio comforted.
Seeing her rain-soaked clothes, he gently said, "Take a shower and change your clothes first."
Anna nodded faintly.
After Giorgio left, Anna stood under the shower, letting the water flow over her body to calm herself down.
'Just hold on a little longer. There must be a way to bring Katherine to justice,' she told herself.
The news about Katherine and Giorgio's divorce was all over the place for three whole days, remaining a hot topic. Even photoshopped images could cause a stir online.
Giorgio had been extremely busy these past few days, with his every little move being scrutinized.
After work in the afternoon, noticing the cars following him, he frowned slightly and instructed Tony, "Head to the old mansion."
"Yes, sir." Tony respectfully drove towards the old mansion.
With that, Giorgio took out his phone and messaged Anna: [There are a lot of people following me lately, so I won't be going back to the estate for now.]
He didn't mind their relationship being exposed, but under such circumstances, it would have a huge impact.
Anna understood the reason so she replied: [Okay, no problem. Let's not meet for a few days. Take care of yourself.]
After sending the message, Anna went downstairs, took a cab, and headed to the airport alone.
Originally, she wanted to go back to Vista Heights with Giorgio to visit Penny, but since he was busy and it wasn't a good time for them to meet, she decided to go alone for a few days to avoid any rumors.
But she worried maybe by the time she returned, he still wouldn't be back at the estate.
Not wanting to worry him, Anna didn't mention it.
Giorgio was unaware of that.
The car stopped at the old mansion.
"You still know to come back?" Viviana angrily spoke up the moment she saw him.
In just a few days, her already-aged face looked even more worried.
Giorgio walked over, took the wheelchair from Benjamin, and gently said, "Grandma, you taught me to be honest and upright since I was a child. The divorce isn't my fault."
"I know it's not your fault, but don't think I don't know what you really want." Viviana tapped her cane and sternly said, "I don't care what you and Anna are thinking. Just put those thoughts away. None of the Stefanelli family are good people. If Katherine, with her good image, can mess you up like this, let alone someone less fortunate."
Viviana continued, "You need to clean up the divorce news quickly. But considering Katherine saved my life, be a bit lenient when handling it. Also, the divorce is up to you, but the marriage will be arranged by me."
Viviana's words were always authoritative and not to be disobeyed.
Hearing that, Giorgio pressed his lips together.
Just as he was about to speak, a gentle yet capable voice sounded.
"Viviana."
The next second, Giorgio saw Lola walked over, dressed in a women's business suit, looking elegant and stylish with her hair up.
She was the president of Quinn Corporation, the top businesswoman in the country, young and capable, and had collaborated with Giorgio on many occasions.
"Mr. Vittorio, " she greeted.
Giorgio raised an eyebrow in slight surprise, asking, "Miss Quinn, what brings you here?"
Viviana said, "To set you up. Before I die, I need to find you a suitable and satisfactory wife."
With that, she glanced at Benjamin, who immediately wheeled her away.
In the large courtyard, only Giorgio and Lola were left.
Giorgio stood there, stunned.
'A setup? The divorce isn't even finalized, and grandma is already arranging this?' he pondered, a bit helpless."Miss Quinn, I know you're busy with work. You should head back," Giorgio said calmly, "Please don't take my grandmother's intentions to heart. I won't see you off, to avoid being photographed and causing trouble for you."
Giorgio said it with a calm, polite, and distant tone, always seeming so unattainable.
Lola smiled and took a step closer, saying, "Mr. Vittorio, there's nothing to avoid between us. We've worked together for a long time, and I know you're an excellent man, so I don't oppose this setup."
She added, "Besides, my parents are also urging me to get married. I suggest you consider it seriously. I think you know very well that whether in work or life, I can perfectly match you."
In the past, Giorgio might have agreed with her, but not now.
"Miss Quinn, marriage isn't about matching, it's about feeling. We are impossible." He gave her a clean and decisive rejection.
Hearing that, Lola's eyes darkened slightly, clearly not expecting such a straightforward refusal. But she wasn't one to be easily discouraged.
She said, "I respect your opinion, Mr. Vittorio. We'll see how things go. Alright, see you next time."
With that, she patted his shoulder and left.
Giorgio stood tall and cold under the moonlight, his eyes deepening.
He didn't think there would be any interaction beyond work with her. After all, except Anna, no one else could make him feel at ease.
For a moment, Giorgio thought of Anna's delicate and rosy face again, and a gentle smile crept onto his lips. He went back inside, took a shower, and changed into casual clothes.
At midnight, he drove the cheapest car in the garage to the estate.
However, when he arrived there, he found the house was empty.
Feeling strange, Giorgio took out his phone and made a call.
"Hello? Giorgio, you're still up this late?" Anna's soft voice sounded.
Then a familiar male voice followed. "Anna, we're about to land. Watch your things."
Giorgio could tell it was Simon's voice.
"Where are you? Why are you with Simon?" His voice was low and tense.
He admired Simon's abilities but with Simon being Anna's ex, it was hard not to be jealous.
Anna sensed his anger and quickly said goodbye to Simon, moving to a quiet restroom to explain, "I'm going back to Vista Heights to be with Penny, and I happened to run into Mr. Dalio."
Hearing that, Giorgio's eyes darkened as he said, "Why didn't you tell me? Making decisions on your own?"
Anna explained, "No, I was going to tell you, but I thought it wasn't convenient for us to meet these days. I thought you might not even know I went to Vista Heights, so I didn't want to bother you."
Giorgio felt a bit frustrated.
Might not even know?
So, she didn't tell him and went back, not planning to inform him no matter what happened with Simon?
A trace of anger and frustration spread in his heart. Giorgio rubbed his temples, softly saying, "I'm at the estate now. I came here in the middle of the night, only to find out you're going to Vista Heights with Simon. Anna, I don't mind you visiting Penny, and I can make time to go with you. But, I think since we're in a relationship, such a big decision should be discussed with me, okay?"
'He actually goes to the estate?' Anna thought.
The key was she really didn't want to bother him. She couldn't figure out why was he so anry.
Maybe she should try to calm him down.
