Chapter 192 My Wife Accompanies Me
Giovanni patted his chest, took a deep breath, and then said, "Miss Greco is by the Radek River, about to jump in."
“What!” Simon stood up and rushed out with a single stride and quickly headed for the sped Radek River as fast as possible. Simon opened the car door and saw Mirlinda standing by the river, like a rose in the wind, beautiful, withered, and dreary.
He walked over. "Mirlinda, come here."
Mirlinda looked at him, her once enchanting eyes no longer filled with emotion. "Don't come close to me. I suddenly feel that my life is pathetic. I'm as cheap as you said, lacking self-love, using tricks to climb into your bed. But even if I abandon my dignity, you still won't spare me a glance. Am I just a joke to you?"
Simon truly despised people who used tricks. But in the end, it was his father's arranged marriage that led to the current situation, as he only pretended to agree for Anna's sake. The responsibility wasn't hers alone. What was important now was to comfort her emotions.
“Miss Greco, think about your parents, think about the child in your belly. Even for their sake, you shouldn’t do anything foolish. Come, be good.” He spoke softly, with a warm expression. Mirlinda grew even more desolate, laughing at herself bitterly.
"In my parents' eyes, there is only the family and not me. As for the child, didn't you say you didn't want him? He won't come into this world."
Simon furrowed his brows. "When did I say I didn't want him?"
"So, you mean you want him?" Mirlinda's eyes held expectation. At this moment, Simon didn't want to upset her.
It had been a day of contemplation, that made him unwilling to be cruel. He said, “Hmm.”
“Really! We're having a baby!” Mirlinda instantly became excited and happy, turned around, and ran straight to Simon, throwing herself into his arms. “That's great, the baby will have a dad, I don't need to commit suicide. The water was so cold, and there were bugs inside, I was so scared.”
Simon wondered if this was how a person who wanted to commit suicide felt. Why did he feel like he'd fallen into her trap?
“Miss Greco is really something, using suicide to force the CEO.” Giovanni wondered.
Meanwhile, in the lounge on the top floor of the Vittorio Group headquarters, Charlie's phone chimed with a text message; “Boss, Mirlinda has successfully infiltrated Simon's life, and Simon has accepted her and brought her home.”
“Now we just need them to get married and Anna will know the truth, then she'll like Daddy. But Miss Greco, had shameless methods. If Daddy had half of her audacity, then I wouldn't have to worry.” Charlie thought.
“Anna, can men get pregnant and have babies?” Charlie suddenly asked. If it's possible, it would be better for Daddy to get pregnant and claim Anna.
Anna's answer shattered his fantasy; “No, only women can get pregnant. Charlie, don't spend all day researching about pregnancy, think about something else. Do you want to go to kindergarten?”
She hoped that after she left, he could continue to be happy, make new friends at school, and play with them. Charlie shook his head, “No, kindergarten is too childish. I'm already a grown-up, not a child.”
Anna held his little hand and corrected him, “Charlie, you misunderstood. Kindergarten is not a place for academic achievement, it's a big family where we learn manners, do crafts, make friends, and play games. You'll have a lot of fun there and meet many interesting little friends. Have you forgotten those kids at the playground, they all go to kindergarten."
Pondering on her words, Charlie, being naive yet adorable, became interested. "Well, then I'll consider it."
"Yes, yes!" Anna immediately searched through school and analyzed their information to pick the best one. "This school has a professional basketball court, the boys who play basketball are so handsome, I think it's good. The food at this school is really good, look at those cartoon snacks, so appetizing. And this one, they actually have gardening and fish farming, it's so unique." Anna wanted to experience it as a kid. The two of them huddled together, laughing and joking.
Giorgio pushed open the lounge door and walked in, witnessing such a harmonious scene, something he had never experienced before. It was completely dark outside, but the indoor lights were bright enough. A big and a small figure sat together on the bed, smiling and exuding a mother-son vibe. Katherine never experienced such harmonious moments with Charlie.
Their current relationship resembled that of a biological mother and son. He stood there, unable to bring himself to interrupt the beautiful view in front of him.
Anna and Charlie looked for a long time and finally selected two schools, leaving Charlie with the final decision.
As she raised her head to stretch his neck, her eyes suddenly spotted Giorgio standing at the door. She was startled, and she abruptly stood up.
"Mr. Vittorio, are you done with work?" She asked.
Giorgio averted his eyes and coldly replied, "What are you two up to. Discussing about schools?"
Charlie stood up and walked over, standing in front of him. "Anna wants me to make new friends at school and choose a school for myself. There are two good schools, but I don't know which one to choose. Dad, can you give me some advice?"
Giorgio had once hoped for his child to go to school and lead a normal childhood, but Charlie stubbornly refused. Now, he was willing to go?
Giorgio glanced deeply at Anna, then refocused on his son. In a gentle voice, he said, "Tell me, what kind of school is it?"
Charlie explained, "One school focuses on cultivating children's hands-on abilities and instilling virtues such as diligence and frugality. They offer various planting classes where you can personally grow different vegetables and raise small fish to eat the vegetables you've cultivated. Then the other school emphasizes comprehensive physical and artistic development. They have piano, basketball, and animation classes. Anna also said that boys who play basketball are the coolest, and I also want to play basketball. What should I do? I'm really torn."
The little one furrowed his brows, clearly expressing his distress.
A hint of darkness flashed in Giorgio's eyes as he reached out and gently tapped his son's small nose." Silly child, only the poor have to make choices. Those who are rich can have everything. Tomorrow, I'll invest in a basketball court and a piano room at the second school, so you can learn anything you want."
"Great! That's amazing!" Charlie was overjoyed.
Anna almost spurted out blood. Only the poor have to make choices, while the rich can have it all? She had agonized over it all afternoon, and now there was a way to have it all? She felt defeated.
Just then, Giorgio's phone received a message from his younger sister; "Giorgio, bring Katherine home quickly. I've brought gifts for you all from school, and everyone is waiting for you to have dinner."
Giorgio narrowed his eyes and put away his phone. "It's time to return to the Vittorio mansion."
At the mention of the Vittorio mansion, Anna's heart skipped a beat. She had managed to avoid them in the morning, but avoiding it again at night would raise suspicions. She could only speak less and be more cautious.
As they walked out of the office, the female secretary approached. "Mr. Vittorio, do you need me to accompany you for tomorrow night's business banquet?"
It was well-known that when men attended social gatherings, they would always bring a female companion, even if they didn't have one, someone would be arranged for them. Thus, the secretary used work as an excuse to engage with Mr. Vittorio in personal matters.
Anna pretended not to understand and held Charlie's hand, continuing walking, but she heard Giorgio's deep voice say, "No need, my wife is with me."
