Chapter 213 Realizing Too Late
Rizzo snapped out of his thoughts and quickly walked over to check on Katherine. Carla and the others immediately gathered around:
"Rizzo, how is our Katherine?"
"Didn't you say she would wake up in a couple of days? Is she going to wake up now?"
"Think of something else; if that doesn't work, take more of Anna's blood, make sure Katherine wake up as soon as possible."
Worry and anxiety were evident between the lines, filled with concern.
It was completely different from their attitude towards Anna before.
Rizzo: "..."
He thought the words he had heard earlier were enough to shock him, but their subsequent attitudes and speech made him realize what true bias and favoritism were.
Both were daughters; why was there such a big difference?
"Rizzo, why aren't you speaking?" Carla urged anxiously.
Rizzo looked at her with a cold gaze: "Leave, the patient needs a quiet environment now."
"Ah, yes."
"We will leave right away."
Carla quickly left the room, pulling Davide and Fabio with her.
The room fell into silence, and finally, the world settled down.
Rizzo looked at Katherine on the bed, fragile and delicate, and instead of continuing the treatment, he said:
"Miss Stefanelli, hearing about your husband and your sister together must have been upsetting; it must be hard for you, right?
To be honest, Anna is friendly, kind, pretty, and clean. Even an outsider like me sympathizes and likes her. It's normal for your husband Giorgio to develop feelings for her after living day and night as a pretend couple. It's even possible that they could genuinely conceive a child.
So, wake up early, take care of your husband, and don't let Anna suffer in your place.
Also, being used by you all as family members and still being blamed, she really is pitiable."
After finishing his piece, he glanced at Katherine's stiffly twitching fingers, turned around, picked up his medical kit, and left without another word.
In the second he stepped out, Katherine's fingers moved more noticeably, her hand shifted position, and her lips began to part slightly, obviously wanting to say something.
Her reaction was much stronger than before!
Rizzo didn't see it; provoking a patient psychologically is one form of medical intervention, especially since his words just then were spoken in genuine anger.
If not for certain relationships, he wouldn't want to treat or help the Stefanelli family.
Now, what worried him most was Anna; she was so frail and had been exposed to the freezing night, fainting from the cold. Could her life be in danger?
No, he needed to hurry over to her.
Vista Heights.
Simon was having breakfast when he received a call from Penny.
"Daddy, save my mommy, I want to see my mommy."
Simon's hand trembled with the fork, and his brows furrowed: "What happened to your mommy?"
Penny sniffled, her voice still choked and panicked:
"Mommy... Mommy was trapped outside and exposed to the cold, and now she 's unconscious."
The sobbing made it hard to hear clearly.
Fortunately, Giovanni came in at that moment and handed him the news.
After reading it, Simon's eyes darkened, and he reassured softly:
"Penny, uncle is going to contact the doctors over there right away to inquire about your mommy's condition, and then let your mommy video call you.
Don't worry, the doctors there are very good, your mommy will be okay. Hmm?"
His voice was always gentle, magnetic, and pleasant to hear.
Anna reluctantly hung up the phone.
Simon stood up immediately, pulled out his phone to find a number, and went outside to make the call.
At the dining table, only Mirlinda was left alone.
Staring at the half-eaten breakfast and the dignified figure of the man, she bit her fork as her dark eyes gradually dimmed.
He is so worried and gentle with someone else's daughter, yet she carries his own child. Why doesn't he show the same concern? And whenever Anna has an issue, he deals with it immediately and cares, what about her?
Would he coax his child tenderly if one day their child cried?
Even though Mirlinda chose this path herself, seeing the person she loves care for another woman so openly in front of her was hard to bear.
Anna... when would she disappear?
Crownhaven Hospital.
After Giorgio brought Anna into the treatment room, he sat in the hospital corridor, looking stern and serious.
Charlie sat beside him, his expression almost a carbon copy of his father's.
Little Tony, observing the two, wanted to offer some comfort but felt it would be futile. He decided not to seek attention at this moment.
'Ding-dong ding~~' His phone rang.
It was Giorgio's phone that he had retrieved from the hotel.
"Mr. Vittorio, Mr. Dalio is calling you. He must be inquiring about Miss Stefanelli's fainting incident," Little Tony said.
Giorgio looked up, emotionless: "Tell him it's nothing to worry about."
"...Yes." Little Tony took the phone and walked to a corner to answer the call quietly.
Charlie keenly noticed that Daddy's attitude towards Mr. Dalio seemed a bit off?
This expression, this demeanor, why does it seem familiar?
Oh, he remembered. Back at Vista Heights, when Mr. Dalio came to pick up Anna, Daddy said it was dangerous for Anna to go back and asked if he understood what he meant. Thinking Daddy wanted him to help Anna get together with Mr. Dalio, he quickly sent Anna away. But then Daddy's face turned dark, even a bit angry.
Looking at it now, Daddy actually didn't like Anna being with Simon at all!
He realized too late!
But why, even though Daddy seemed to care, did he never take the initiative or make it clear?
This was something Giorgio couldn't understand either.
The door to the treatment room opened.
The doctor rushed out, anxiously saying:
"Mr. Vittorio, the situation isn't good. Mrs. Vittorio's health is very poor, she's severely chilled, and currently in a deep coma, undergoing resuscitation. We are preparing a blood transfusion procedure, but Mrs. Vittorio's blood type is rare, and it will take time to analyze. Do we have any of Mrs. Vittorio's blood type records?"
Giorgio remembered Anna mentioning her rare blood type last night, but there are many rare blood types, and he was unclear about which one she had.
Just as he was uncertain, a surprising voice sounded.
"I'm here, I have Mrs. Vittorio's blood type data!" Rizzo ran over.
Breathing heavily, with sweat on his forehead, he didn't rest for a second before presenting his medical credentials and introduced himself to the doctor:
"Hello, I'm the personal physician responsible for Mrs. Vittorio, and I'm very familiar with her condition. I request to join the treatment."
The doctor, surprised by the documentation and the young doctor who seemed to have plenty of experience, hesitated as it was unprecedented for a non-hospital staff member to join a treatment.
Rizzo urged, "Don't hesitate, the patient is critical. There's no matching rare blood type available in the whole of Crownhaven, and importing from abroad won't be quick enough. The patient also has a single kidney, and her condition is poor. Any further delay could pose a life-threatening risk.
This is indeed a very urgent situation.
The patient's condition was described with precision, not a detail missed.
The doctor looked at Rizzo, and after two seconds, clenched his teeth:
"Alright, follow me immediately, change into surgical attire, and join the treatment! But you'll need to sign a duty agreement."
"Okay," Rizzo said, without any hesitation, and followed the doctor into the treatment room.
Not until the corridor had become quiet again did Giorgio's tall and distinguished figure still stand in place, his face solemn and his eyebrows tightly furrowed.
What had he just heard?
A solitary kidney? Was Rizzo talking about Anna? She seemed so healthy; how could she only have one kidney?
