Chapter 531 My Girlfriend and a Man in A Romantic Gaze?
Lola had always given Giorgio the impression of being efficient, handling everything perfectly.
In fact, she knew her boundaries well, making her interactions with others pleasant and free of discomfort.
Therefore, in their collaboration, Giorgio considered her as his friend, but he didn't say that directly.
He put down the file. "No problem, what brings you here so late?"
Lola said, "You were in a rush last night, and I didn't get to tell you something. Tonight, after finishing work, I ran into Tony, who mentioned you were still working, so I came over to chat."
Last night, Giorgio was indeed in a hurry.
Viviana had health issues again and wanted to discuss the matchmaking matter. He couldn't refuse her, so he asked Lola to handle it.
Afterward, Viviana chatted with him for a long time, and it got very late.
Worried that Anna had been waiting too long, he didn't even see Lola off and drove straight to the hospital, only to encounter Anna's cold and distant attitude.
Giorgio even felt that their relationship didn't seem like that of a couple; she always kept him at arm's length.
Feeling slightly irritated, he rubbed his temples. "Go ahead."
Lola said slowly, "Mrs. Viviana Vittorio told me a lot while you were away. In short, she wants me to oversee the software and inform her first when a suitable match appears. She will investigate, and if she's not satisfied, she'll have me add more people. Essentially, she wants to arrange for her preferred candidate to be the perfect match. And she explicitly said she hopes it's me."
Hearing that, Giorgio felt a headache coming on. "Thank you, Ms. Quinn, for telling me this. When the time comes, just refuse her by saying the data will be made public worldwide. Don't worry about anything else."
Lola nodded. She didn't mention that the perfect match had indeed appeared.
"Mr. Vittorio, your girlfriend Anna has completed the compatibility test. Do you want to see it?" Lola asked unexpectedly.
Hearing that, Giorgio raised an eyebrow.
He had told Anna not to worry about it, but she still went ahead and did it?
After thinking for a moment, he said, "Alright, let me see."
"Okay." Lola stood up, walked over to him, and placed the tablet on his desk.
Giorgio lowered his eyes, looking at the multiple-choice questions and Anna's answers, his gaze flickering with complex emotions. By the end, his expression had become deeply contemplative.
After a moment, he said, "Let's go with this. When the time comes, expand the influence. You know what I mean?"
Lola's eyes showed understanding, a complex light flashing through them. "Alright. But Mr. Vittorio, can you treat me to a late-night snack?"
"Sure." Giorgio shut down his computer, stood up, and left with her.
He had been in a bad mood all day and hadn't eaten much, so he was feeling a bit hungry now.
After the two left in the car, a small figure, Anna, emerged from behind the giant screen outside the company.
She had texted him earlier, but he didn't reply. Instead, she unexpectedly received a text from Tony.
"Ms. Stefanelli, Mr. Vittorio hasn't eaten much today and is still working overtime at the company. I'm a bit worried. Could you help out?"
Initially, she didn't want to care. But she still did.
However, she didn't expect to see the two of them leaving together. Moreover, the car didn't go far; it stopped at a restaurant across from the company.
It seemed she had come at the wrong time.
He had someone to accompany him and didn't need her concern.
Thinking of that, Anna turned to leave, feeling increasingly depressed.
Maybe there really was nothing between him and Lola, but this was the second time he hadn't replied to her because of Lola. And when he was working with Lola, he seemed perfect and normal.
She felt he didn't need her at all.
Suddenly, she bumped into a figure.
"Sorry, sorry," Anna apologized, looking down.
"Anna?" The next second, a familiar voice sounded.
She looked up to see the elegant Giuseppe. "Giuseppe? Did you just get off work?"
Giuseppe nodded lightly. "Yes, one of the projects has been working overtime to perfect things. I just finished. Are you here to see Uncle Giorgio?"
"No. I just heard the scenery here is nice, so I came for a walk." Anna made an excuse, not wanting him to know her current mood or it would be too embarrassing.
"What are you holding?"
"Huh?" Anna looked down at the homemade dinner box in her hand, which was now useless.
"It's for you. Actually, I came to thank you for the evidence you gave me yesterday and for telling me about that matter."
Giuseppe's eyes lit up behind his gold-rimmed glasses, and he smiled gracefully. "I'm flattered. Would you like to come to the office? There's a problem with the project design that I'd like to ask you about."
Anna didn't know about last night's news. Hearing that, she didn't refuse. "Okay."
The two went upstairs and into the office.
After placing the dinner box on the desk, Giuseppe opened his laptop and said, "This is the plan from back then. Yesterday, the builder reviewed it and said there's a problem with the bamboo forest area. You see, the area is 0.74 acres, but to create a real natural oxygen bar, we need a larger space. So the area needs to be adjusted, which might affect other designs. Also, for the antique houses in the design, the old-style tiles you used might leak, and future maintenance could be an issue."
Anna looked at the plan. She hadn't thought about these issues at the time.
She had only focused on evenly dividing the area among the projects, forgetting that 0.74 acres wasn't enough to create a forest oxygen bar.
She tucked her hair behind her ear, saying, "So, what do the builder and you suggest?"
Giuseppe took a bite of food and said, "The builder thinks transporting and maintaining the bamboo is difficult and wants to remove this area. But I believe the scenery here is meaningful and shouldn't be reduced. That's why I wanted to discuss it with you."
Anna agreed. She propped her head on her hand, thinking seriously and saying, "Alright, you eat, and I'll think about it."
Meanwhile, after the meal, Giorgio remembered he had forgotten his phone and returned to the company.
He noticed Giuseppe's office door was open, with lights on inside and a familiar scent wafting out.
That scent was quite familiar.
Instinctively, he walked over and saw the two in the office.
Giuseppe was eating, and the dinner box on the table was homemade, clearly brought over by someone.
And sitting across from him was Anna, propping her head on her hand, facing him.
With her back to him, Giorgio couldn't see her expression, but the scene was too harmonious and intimate.
They looked just like a couple!
A surge of uncontrollable anger rose in Giorgio's heart. He stepped forward and said, "Am I interrupting? Or is it perfect timing to see my girlfriend gazing affectionately at another man?" His voice was tinged with anger, dripping with sarcasm. The words "my girlfriend" and "gazing affectionately" were especially emphasized.
Instantly, a chill spread through the air.
Anna turned at the sound and saw Giorgio standing at the office door, dressed in a suit, looking noble and cold. His face was colder and darker than the night outside!
Why had he come back again?
