Chapter 351 Sincerely, Being a Boyfriend
She felt increasingly bewildered, a tad shy, embarrassed, nervous, and guilty all at once. As her ears turned red, she lowered her head and explained, "I have a slight cold. There's a lot of dust on the construction site, so I wore a mask."
Worried he might inquire further, she awkwardly changed the subject. "The secretary said you were looking for me, what's up?"
Giuseppe noticed her complex demeanor, and the color deepened in his eyes behind the golden-rimmed glasses. But he didn't press, and instead said, "My clothes are torn. can you sew? Could you help me out?"
As he spoke, he took off his suit jacket, revealing a large tear at the back of his white shirt sleeve where Tom had carried him. His skin showed a noticeable scratch.
Anna, surprised by the sight, asked, "Are you injured?"
Giuseppe shook his head. "It's nothing. I accidentally got snagged by a nail while wearing the shirt at the construction site. The wound isn't serious. It's just that this shirt... was customized for me by my mother on her birthday."
She didn't expect him to be sentimental.
Anna stood up and said, "Take it off. I can sew it up for you, and I'll also apply some medicine to your wound as well. It's hot, and it would be troublesome if it gets infected."
"Alright." Giuseppe wasn't being dramatic. He simply took off the shirt and placed it aside. "There's an emergency medical kit under the desk."
Anna hurried over, retrieved the medical kit, and stood behind him, tending to his wound.
Her touch was gentle, her movements cautious, different from those of a doctor or nurse.
Giuseppe's eyes were filled with complex emotions. Never before had a woman been so caring toward him.
Katherine, in the past, only sought things from him, without showing any care.
He took a bite of sushi, the taste of food filling his mouth, and once again realized that no woman had ever cooked for him by hand.
Even if Anna was just repaying a debt, her sincerity was evident.
"Anna." He suddenly called her name seriously.
Anna furrowed her beautiful brows, her voice soft and sweet, "What is it?"
Giuseppe said, "I really want to be in a relationship with you now, not out of agreement, but out of genuine sincerity."
Suddenly, Anna's hand with the band-aid froze in place.
Giuseppe turned around, his gaze meeting hers deeply, and repeated, "Perhaps you won't believe it, but I truly want to be in a relationship with you. I want to be your boyfriend."
His tone was serious, his expression sincere. It really didn't seem like a joke.
Anna was at a loss. Agreeing to be in a relationship with him had been merely a gesture of repaying a favor. Even if he wanted her to pretend to be in a relationship, it was for the benefit of his family, she thought they were merely defining it as just friends.
But... his sudden declaration that he wanted to be her boyfriend caught her completely off guard. It was too unexpected, too abrupt.
She looked at him, bewildered, unsure how to respond.
Just as they were deeply gazing at each other, the door was pushed open.
Giorgio came in with documents and saw them "gazing affectionately" at each other, with Giuseppe still shirtless.
His eyes darkened, his tone becoming ambiguous. "It seems like I've come at an inappropriate time."
The sudden interruption broke their complex emotions.
Anna looked up and saw Giorgio at the door. She immediately lowered her head and put the last band-aid on Giuseppe. "Giuseppe, all done. You should eat. I'll go to the store across the street to buy some thread and sew your clothes."
With that, she ran off.
As they passed each other, Giorgio saw the panic, embarrassment, and awkwardness in her eyes, along with a hint of blush on her cheek.
She was clearly shy.
What had she and Giuseppe done to make her show such an expression?
"Giorgio, why did you come over?" At this moment, Giuseppe wasn't happy that Giorgio had seen him with Anna. On the contrary, being interrupted, he couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
His expression was seen by Giorgio, making his handsome face even more somber. He then said, "The documents you gave me last night have been reviewed and are ready for official operation."
"What, do you think I interrupted something good for you?" Giorgio nonchalantly asked.
In the past, Giuseppe would have denied it and joked in a friendly manner. But this time, he said directly, "A bit, Anna and I were just getting to a crucial moment."
A crucial moment.
The corner of Giorgio's mouth twitched beneath his mask, his hand holding the documents showing veins as he threw them next to Giuseppe. "The office is not a place for you to date and mess around. If you want to do that, go home," he said sternly before turning and striding out.
His slightly fast pace and indifferent demeanor exuded a chilling aura.
He was truly angry.
Giuseppe rubbed his eyes.
He wasn't playing with Giorgio's woman. He was trying to provoke Giorgio, putting himself in a dangerous situation where Giorgio could lose his temper at any moment and do something irrational.
Outside the door, Tony watched Giorgio's terrifying figure, trembling.
Having heard a few words from the front desk at the company, Giorgio already seemed cold and stern. But now, seeing Anna and Giuseppe's ambiguous relationship with his own eyes and ears, he appeared even more troubled. It was evident that Giorgio's state would probably become increasingly unstable, and Tony knew that he shouldn't expect to have easy days ahead.
He quickly caught up, and said, "Giorgio, don't forget to wear a helmet."
This time, Giorgio arrived not solely with documents, nor solely because of Anna, but indeed to inspect the construction site and ensure everything was in order before officially starting work.
After all, the collapse incident last time had made him worried.
Speaking of the collapse incident, he remembered the scene of Anna coming to him with Charlie in the middle of the night, as well as the kiss at the hotel.
Although she had also resisted at the time, there was a bit of shyness and nervousness, a stark contrast from the attitude of wanting to bite his head off last night.
Why had she changed so much?
"Giorgio, the helmet," Tony reminded him for the second time. In this situation, he knew it was best not to speak unless necessary, but safety was important!
Giorgio finally returned to his senses, indifferently took the safety helmet, and put it on his head.
Tony thought he would vent his anger on him, but unexpectedly, he heard Giorgio asking him, "What did I do a few days ago? Did I offend Anna?"
What? Offend Anna?
The high and mighty Giorgio was actually asking such a question! Was it because he saw Anna and Giuseppe being ambiguous?
Didn't he hate Anna as he should? Perhaps Anna's significance to Giorgio was no longer as simple as he had assumed.
Tony was surprised, hesitant to speak, as he attempted to recall, "A while ago, you were busy with Viviana's birthday banquet, then taking care of her health. Nothing major."
Indeed.
In the hospital room, Anna was pushed by Edith. He first inquired about her condition before caring for his grandmother. He had done nothing wrong.
"And then?" Giorgio continued to ask.
Tony felt very shocked. Was Giorgio reflecting on his mistakes? Was he dreaming? Was all this really happening?
Tony cautiously replied, "After that, you were taking care of Viviana while working, nothing significant. Oh, you seemed to have asked Anna to clean for you... could it be because of that?"
Giorgio shrugged. "Isn't she used to doing these things? Besides, isn't she eager to see Charlie? I'm just giving her some time to be together."
Tony analyzed the situation carefully. "It's different now. In the past, Anna took care of the young master; it was only natural. But now she is the Stefanelli family's heiress, and she's dating Giorgio. If you ask her to clean, she might feel like you're treating her as a servant, trampling on her dignity, so..."
Giorgio was speechless, he doubted the truth of this reason. Would she really look at him as if he were an enemy just for this reason?
