Chapter 288 Penny's Identity Revealed!
The air was oppressively chilly, almost tangible in its coldness.
And as luck would have it, Giuseppe arrived.
He walked into the boardroom poised and graceful, with Abel by his side, "Giorgio, everyone, discussing my affairs so early in the morning – I apologize for delaying your valuable time."
As soon as the others saw him, they shifted their focus, "General Manager, is the news true or false?"
"How coincidental, fancying the twin sister who looks just like your Katherine?"
Curiosity filled their inquiries. After all, the marriage of a high-profile figure could impact businesses on a grand scale and influence countless families on a smaller one.
They had even harbored hopes of matching their own daughters with Giuseppe.
Giuseppe, catching a glimpse of Giorgio's stern, somber face, said elegantly, "Love is all about fate. I never considered any factors when I started dating Anna. However, I do think it would be convenient if Katherine and Anna, being sisters, both married into the Vittorio family. What do you think, Giorgio?"
His casual inquiry turned towards Giorgio as if it meant nothing more than idle chatter.
Little Tony was shivering nearby.
Quite naturally, Mr. Vittorio had special feelings for Miss Stefanelli. Now, with Giuseppe specifically asking him, was he courting danger?
In the oppressive atmosphere, Giorgio's strikingly handsome face was covered in frost, his dark eyes fixed on Giuseppe as a sudden freeze hit him.
The air was enough to freeze someone to death.
For a full three seconds, his cool lips didn't move until. Finally, Giorgio said, "We don't talk about personal issues during work hours."
After the statement dropped, he strutted to the head of the room, his innate air of authority radiating around him, "Show me the project proposals I asked you to prepare yesterday."
Project proposals?
"Mr. Vittorio… Didn't you say we could submit them this afternoon…?" everyone wondered anxiously yet curiously.
Giorgio's penetrating gaze swept over them, "If you have time to gossip, doesn't that mean the work has been completed brilliantly?"
‘Oh, it was just a brief chat during the morning meeting about some big news! But why does Mr. Vittorio seem particularly cold today?’
The crowd could only mentally sob, “Em.”
Giuseppe cast a glance at Giorgio's chiseled features, his dark eyes carrying profound implications.
Indeed, Giorgio cared Anna.
With this, the events ahead seemed to promise even more intrigue, right?
...
All day long, the internet buzzed with news about Anna.
“#AnnaGiuseppeDatingRevealed#”
“#AnnaRejoiningStefanelliFamilyTrends#”
“#GiorgioLanFamiliesMayUniteAgain#”
The public, always eager for a fresh topic, didn't hesitate to dig into Anna's past for scandals. Fortunately, Katherine, foreseeing the media frenzy, had wisely managed Anna's information and Penny's situation beforehand and even arranged controlled comments to keep the situation from escalating.
At the center of it all, Anna had no clue about any of this.
After Giorgio left in the morning, she spent nearly two hours making up excuses and reassuring Charlie, finally settling him down.
‘Damn, did Giorgio really expect her to send Charlie back to him by leaving him here without her phone? Was she never supposed to see him again?’
The doorbell's chime interrupted Anna's thoughts.
‘Who could it be at this hour?’
She approached the monitor with curiosity, and upon seeing the visitor, her brows instantly knit together.
The man standing outside was dressed sharply, his face carrying no emotion—someone with a naturally displeased demeanor, clearly not a friendly visitor.
It was Fabio. But why was he coming to look for her?
Within two seconds of curiosity, Fabio keyed in the passcode and pushed open the front door.
The two stood face to face, their eyes locking.
Fabio spoke coldly, "You didn't want to open the door for me?"
Anna asked, "What are you here for?"
Both of their words were blunt, each carrying distinct tones of coolness and defiance that clearly didn't match—indeed, an almost loathsome energy seemed to emanate between them.
Sara was left speechless.
‘What's with these two? It felt like they'd rather kill each other. But honestly, who is he? So handsome!’
She rushed over, "Anna, guests should be treated nicely. Soften up a little."
"Hey there, I'm Sara, Anna's BFF."
Anna was silent, realizing that her best friend was once again swooning over someone.
When Fabio caught sight of Sara, his gaze narrowed slightly. Then he shifted his indifferent attention back to Anna.
"Did you see the news? Achieved your goal, didn't you? Feeling smug?"
News? Goal?
"I don't know what you're talking about. Stop making stuff up," Anna retorted, ready to close the door.
Fabio stopped the door with his hand, his disdainful eyes fixating on her.
"Playing dumb? Going public saying the Stefanelli family abused you, isn't it because you want to reclaim your status within the Stefanelli family?
Anna, the Stefanelli family can grant you that, but I hope you can handle the consequences."
He then commanded, "Pack your stuff and come back to the Stefanelli family with me. I don't have the patience or the time to wait."
Anna fell silent. Who the hell wants to go back to the Stefanelli family?
"Go back your...," she started to snap back.
"Anna," Sara interrupted before she could finish her curse, pulling her aside, "Anna, check out the trending news! Something this big happened, and we had no clue!"
Big news?
Anna glanced at her phone, and then she exploded!
‘Dating Giuseppe?’
‘Going back to the Stefanelli family?’
‘An arranged marriage?’
‘Damn it, what kind of nonsense was this!’
After the initial shock, Anna began to understand why Fabio was so angry.
In a moment of frustration at Davide and Carla's antics in the hospital, she had made a comment to the press downstairs, wanting to give them a hard time.
Unfortunately, she underestimated that in an era of widespread internet and calls for love and integrity, some opportunistic person would hold onto the Stefanelli Group's misstep, forcing them to speak out for the sake of their reputation.
Naturally, the Stefanelli family and Fabio directed their anger towards her, believing it was all part of her scheme.
“No words, Anna? You're the most repulsive person I've ever seen," Fabio said with disgust.
Anna regained her composure, organized her thoughts, and looked calmly at Fabio, "First, is there a problem with pointing out your actions? If revealing someone's true colors always has an ulterior motive, then there is no justice that can be vocalized in this world. Second, even if you begged me on your knees, I wouldn't go back. And third, if you don't want me to expose your media charades, then stop bothering me and get lost."
She delivered the three statements with a direct attitude, a clear tone, and an absolute lack of mercy.
Fabio's handsome features clouded over in an instant.
He had specifically taken time to come to get her, and this was her attitude!
He had never been challenged like this before.
He warned her coldly, "Go ahead and be uncooperative, but don't blame me if your daughter's identity gets exposed."
‘Penny?!’
Anna's face went pale with astonishment. "How... How do you know about Penny?"
Fabio chuckled disdainfully. "An unmarried pregnancy claimed to be your brother's child—what don't I know about it?"
His words hit the floor heavily. Anna's once proud posture deflated, leaving her slumped and helpless. For years, she had fiercely guarded Penny's identity, confiding the secret only in Simon. Now, both Katherine and Fabio were aware, and Fabio seemed to understand with alarming clarity.
‘Did he also know who Penny's father was?’
The thought sent a shiver through her heart, and she stammered the question, "What... What else do you know?"
Fabio stepped closer, looking into her eyes.
"If I know this, what could possibly be beyond my reach? Your child's father? Would you like me to tell you about him?"
