Chapter 499 Mr. Vittorio, Anna Loves You
The folks lurking in the shadows to keep Giorgio safe popped out the second they got the news. One of 'em said, "Mr. Vittorio, step away from Ms. Stefanelli for now and check things out later."
Another chimed in, "Yeah, Mr. Vittorio."
The two dudes got ready to pull Giorgio back.
Giorgio shot them a cold look and said, "Back off."
The two guys hesitated. They were sent by the higher-ups to make sure Giorgio stayed safe. They couldn't mess this up. If they did, it was on them.
"Back off, I got this." With that, Giorgio walked to the bedside and told the doc, "Transfer her to Imperial Glory Hospital now."
The doc nodded. The two guys, feeling stuck, exchanged looks and finally backed off.
Soon, Anna was moved to Imperial Glory Hospital. Sara was there to grab some surveillance footage and was shocked by the crowd.
'Who's the big shot at the hospital this time? What a scene,' she thought.
The next second, she caught some gossip.
"I heard it's Mr. Vittorio."
"Looks like Mr. Stefanelli is sick and got rushed here."
"Ms. Stefanelli? Katherine? She was posting pics this morning, looking fine."
Hearing that, Sara frowned. 'If Katherine's fine, could it be Anna?' she wondered and followed her curiosity. Then she saw Anna, pale as a ghost, on a gurney being wheeled into a special room!
Recognizing Anna, she ran over, worried, "Anna! What's wrong with you!"
"Miss, you can't come in." The doc pushed her out and shut the door.
Sara was freaking out. Through the glass, she saw a bunch of doctors around Anna, looking super serious, and she was almost in tears.
Ignoring everything, she ran to the cold and distant Giorgio, demanding, "Mr. Vittorio, what happened to Anna? She was fine when you took her yesterday! What did you do to her?"
Her voice was loud. If it weren't for the bodyguards keeping people away, everyone would've heard.
Giorgio looked down and said, "Ms. Hill, calm down."
"I can't calm down!" Sara, already pissed from the car accident, was even more worried about Anna. With revenge still on her mind and another mess happening, she was fuming.
She said, "Mr. Vittorio, I know Anna didn't appreciate you before, and that's on her. But she never hurt you or betrayed you. She left you because Katherine faked a pregnancy, making her think she was carrying Giuseppe's kid and wasn't good enough for you, so she had to leave."
Hearing that, Giorgio's eyes widened, "What did you say?"
Sara bit her lip. Since she started, no point in holding back. Ignoring everything, she spilled it all. "Back then, Katherine forced Anna to leave you, saying it was to save her grandma. Anna didn't want to, so she agreed to try a second surgery plan with you."
Sara paused and continued, "But when the pregnancy thing came up, Anna couldn't bear to abort the kid, didn't want you to be responsible for it. What's worse, Katherine threatened her, saying if the kid's issue came out, it wouldn't just be an identity problem; even Giuseppe and The Vittorio family wouldn't agree."
"Anna was in pain and helpless and had to agree with Katherine. After her grandma's surgery, the doc said the medical team had to go back to Vista Heights and would take us to make sure someone could care for her grandma during the trip. Anna agreed to go back with them."
Sara said, "But we didn't expect that as soon as we got to Vista Heights, there'd be a car accident. Anna's grandma died on the spot, and even Penny ended up in a coma in the ICU! Mr. Vittorio, do you know how crushed Anna was? If it weren't for her grandma telling her that Katherine pushed her and her determination to find out and get revenge, she might not have made it!"
At this point, she choked up.
Hearing that, Giorgio's face got even darker, his brows knitting together. He had no clue about any of this. Anna hadn't told him squat!
"So, she came back to Crownhaven to go after Katherine and find out the truth?" he asked.
Giorgio's question made Sara even angrier. She snapped, "What do you mean by going after Katherine? Hasn't Katherine messed with Anna enough over the years? She..."
Before Sara could say more, she stopped herself and said, "Forget it. Whether she was behind the car accident or not is still up in the air, but the fake pregnancy thing? That was all her! Whatever Anna did to her, she had it coming! And honestly, we didn't do anything."
Sara added, "And Mr. Vittorio, Anna not only didn't hurt you but also genuinely wanted to make things right. When she found out about the fake pregnancy, she had me wheel her to city hall to find you, but you weren't there; she ran into Mr. Shawn instead."
"Mr. Shawn told her the truth about your marriage, that it was to protect her. Anna was shocked and deeply hurt, feeling unworthy of your kindness, so she didn't keep looking for you. After that, Anna pretended to be Katherine to try to get the truth from Elena, and she ran into you three times."
"She did nothing wrong, but Mr. Vittorio, you locked her up and kidnapped her for Katherine. Mr. Vittorio, I don't know if you still have feelings for Anna. But Anna has lost her grandmother, is still worried about the critically ill Penny, and is entirely driven by revenge. She's really exhausted. Mr. Vittorio, please let her go. I'm begging you."
Each word hit hard.
After hearing it all, Giorgio's face turned ice-cold. He remembered the night Anna said she wanted to make up and apologized to him. Turned out she was sincere, but he had blown her off completely!
"Why didn't you tell me this earlier?" Giorgio's voice was filled with anger, not at Sara, but at himself, for acting against Anna without knowing the full story.
Sara forced a bitter smile and said, "I wanted to, but Anna said you didn't care about her anymore. She thought you liked Katherine now and didn't want to bother you. Mr. Vittorio, you also got a marriage certificate with Katherine, so what would be the point of telling you?"
Yeah, he had deliberately treated Anna as Katherine to get under Anna's skin and had intentionally been with Katherine to humiliate her.
He punched the wall, making his knuckles bleed.
Sara was startled. 'Looks like Mr. Vittorio still has feelings for Anna,' she thought.
The next second, the door to the special observation room opened. The doctor came out, reporting, "Mr. Vittorio, Ms. Stefanelli's condition hasn't worsened. The blood has been sent to the lab for further analysis, and we'll have the results in half an hour to determine what virus it is."
Giorgio pulled himself together and responded coldly, "Do it quickly, and let me know any updates right away."
"Okay."
Sara watched the doctor leave, puzzled, asking, "Virus? Anna's got a virus? Oh my God! Anna isn't infected with that terrible virus that's been spreading around and can be fatal, is she?"
"Impossible." Giorgio cut in coldly, his voice deep. "There are no cases here in this city; she can't be infected. It should just be a minor virus."
His seemingly rational and confident words were actually just him trying to comfort himself.
Sara, however, was freaking out. In her view, nothing good had happened to Anna. Pregnancy, substitution, Antonio going abroad, her grandmother in a vegetative state, and her daughter seriously ill. Now, being infected with a super virus wasn't impossible either.
The more Sara thought about it, the more anxious she got. She even cried for a full half hour out of fear.
Half an hour later, the doctor showed up and announced the results.
