Chapter 258 Late Night Musings
Unimaginable.
But then again, the two children were only 3 and 2 years old. It was too early to think about this.
Giorgio said indifferently, "It's your business; you decide."
So, his father didn't object? Did he not object to him and Penny attending the same kindergarten, or did he not object to becoming in-laws with Anna?
One made him sad and the other happy.
Charlie wasn’t exactly thrilled with his father’s demeanor but being able to go to the same school as Penny and having a chance to change the other situation was a start.
"Thank you, Daddy," he said and then went out to let Little Tony help with the enrollment process.
Anna finally decided on the Spring Kindergarten after several comparisons with other schools.
This kindergarten not only had complete facilities, friendly and professional teachers, strict food control, but also provided school bus service. It was perfect.
After Little Tony had assessed it and confirmed there were no issues, he also enrolled Charlie,
"Charlie, do you want to take the school bus or be picked up by a driver?"
"Which one did Penny choose?"
Little Tony replied, "Penny will be picked up." After all, it was only a ten-minute walk to Anna’s place.
But it was different for them, it would take at least 15 minutes by car.
"Charlie, if you also choose parent pick-up, Mr. Vittorio might not always have time, and we might need to hire an extra driver for you."
Everyone knew that Mr. Vittorio was busy with work every day, and it was out of his fatherly love that he came home every night to accompany Charlie.
Kindergarten ended at six o'clock, and many times Mr. Vittorio would work overtime until eight or ten o'clock at night.
Charlie understood his father's situation, and after some deep thought, he sensibly said,
"Arrange a driver. If Daddy has time, he can come pick me up, if not, let the driver do it."
"Alright."
"Ding!" Just as Little Tony's words fell, the front door unlocked, and the beautiful and elegant Katherine stepped into the villa.
He respectfully said, "Mrs. Vittorio."
Katherine responded faintly as her gaze fell on Charlie.
Charlie immediately shrank his neck, lowered his head, and turned around, "I'm going upstairs."
"Wait." Katherine stopped him, telling Little Tony, "You go first; I have something to say to Charlie."
"Alright, ma'am." Little Tony turned and went upstairs to report Charlie's registration and Katherine's arrival.
The large living room was quiet.
Charlie stood in place, not moving, not turning around, and not even greeting her.
This stubborn child! He didn't act like this with Anna!
Katherine was annoyed, but remembering Anna's threat, she stepped forward, squatted down in front of Charlie, and looked directly at him, "Charlie, I am your biological mother. With your intelligence, you should understand what that means, right?"
Charlie naturally knew that the mainstream values in society believed that motherly love was great and selfless.
But... he couldn't see any, nor feel a bit of motherly love from Katherine.
He remained silent.
Katherine tried her best to suppress her temper and said again, "No matter how much you like Anna, she is just an outsider. I am your mother, the... the things I did wrong before, I will do my best to correct them. If there's anything you're not satisfied with, you can tell me, and we'll get along well in the future, okay?"
"Here is a dessert from a five-star Michelin restaurant that I bought for you; I queued for an hour to buy it. Try it and see if it's good?"
She spoke in a gentle tone, and there was a faint smile on her face.
Charlie looked at Katherine, his dark eyes filled with confusion and complexity.
After about three seconds, his face changed, and he suddenly raised his hand and pushed her away, "You're pretending! I don't like you!"
"Bang!" Katherine was pushed to the ground, and her already injured hand landed on the floor, seeping fresh blood.
In the hallway above, Giorgio's eyes hardened, and he came downstairs, "Charlie, who allowed you to use force?" And towards his own mother?
His voice was filled with an undeniable seriousness and anger.
Charlie's face stiffened; he lowered his head and remained silent.
Upon seeing Giorgio, Katherine struggled to stand upright:
"Giorgio, it's fine. It's my fault for being too busy with work and not caring enough about Charlie. That's why he's not close to me. Don't blame him; he's just a child."
She was being incredibly gentle, but her furrowed brow and stiff hand betrayed her pain.
Giorgio sternly said to Charlie, "Apologize to your mother and go upstairs to reflect for three hours. Little Tony, call Tom over."
"Yes, Mr. Vittorio," Little Tony quickly moved aside to make the call.
Charlie stood there, looking at Giorgio with a mix of anger, loss, helplessness, and hurt.
After seeing his father's cold and stern face, he clenched his small fist and managed to utter, "I'm sorry."
Then, he turned around and went straight upstairs.
For some reason, Giorgio felt as if his heart had been pierced by something sharp. He felt sorry for his son and wondered if his own expression had been too frightening. But no matter the reason, it was wrong to lay hands on one's own mother.
He turned his gaze to Katherine, "Fix your relationship with him."
His voice was cold and commanding. The implication was clear: Katherine also bore responsibility for Charlie's behavior.
Katherine lowered her head in self-blame, "Yes, I'll take it to heart."
That evening, Katherine moved into the villa under the pretext of bonding with Charlie.
She texted Anna, "I spent the afternoon bonding with Charlie, and we're now living together. You don't need to worry anymore. If the recording gets out, you should know the consequences."
When she received the message, Anna was lying in bed with Penny.
The text message came with a photo of Katherine supervising Charlie's studies.
In the picture, Charlie was quietly reading, looking adorable and well-behaved.
It was nice that Katherine was scared enough to temporarily alleviate Anna's worries about Charlie.
Anna was about to turn off her phone and go to sleep when she noticed Katherine's nightgown in the corner of the photo.
It was a sexy, beautiful spaghetti strap style that had been hanging in the closet before. When she had played Katherine's role, she had been forced to wear it, but it looked awkward on her...
On Katherine, it must look beautiful...
Unexpectedly, an image of Giorgio's tall figure pressing Katherine beneath him, as his long hand lifted the hem of her dress, floated into her mind, causing a complicated feeling to arise in her heart.
Damn, what was she thinking? They were a couple, and it was normal for them to be intimate. What did it have to do with her? Why would she feel uncomfortable about it?
She patted her face, closed her eyes, covered herself with the blanket, and quickly fell asleep.
The next morning was clear and sunny. Anna got up early, washed up, bought breakfast from the cafeteria, fed Penny, and took her to the kindergarten.
She dressed Penny in a pink dress, with two cute braids in her hair. Paired with Penny's starry, sparkling eyes, she looked especially beautiful and adorable, like a little princess.
As soon as Penny appeared, all the children at the school gate instinctively exclaimed, "Wow! What a beautiful little girl!"
"I like her so much."
Penny was very polite; she raised her little hand and waved hello to everyone, "Hello."
Everyone instantly responded with excited and happy 'hellos' and cheers.
But then, one voice stood out. "Penny."
It was crisp and pleasant, magnetic and strong. Everyone looked over to see...
