Chapter 140 No Self-Restraint

The courtyard was not very bright.

Under the dim streetlights, a man stood tall, exuding a chilling aura.

Even though his facial expressions were indiscernible, one could sense the suppressed danger emanating from him.

"Why... why are you in the courtyard?" Anna's voice trembled, unsure if he had witnessed the scene earlier.

Giorgio's sharp gaze, akin to that of a falcon, locked onto her, his voice cold and stern. "What just happened, don't you think you should explain it to me?"

An interrogation, full of anger.

Obviously, he had heard!

Anna was taken aback.

What should she do? Should she tell him about Katherine and Giuseppe's affair?

No, with his noble and cold personality, if he were to find out about Katherine's betrayal, the Vittorio and Stefanelli families would be turned upside down. Katherine, once she woke up, would never let her off the hook.

Moreover, she would not have a good outcome for causing this crisis.

She couldn't let it be revealed by her.

In the detective's house.

Detective Jay Morris took in the photos on the ground like he was a hungry wolf who hadn't eaten for days and the images were stacks of raw meat.

Each picture had an image of Giorgio or his associates. They were taken at his workplace, outside his house, and even at the restaurants he went to.

To put things lightly, the Vittorio Family had become his obsession, especially Giorgio Vittorio.

He knew they had strong connections to the underworld and even had their hands in the police force.

But if Jay managed to expose them to the world, the government would have no choice but to prosecute them.

And he would be claimed a hero. The one little guy who was strong and enough to take out the big guys!

He might even get a tremendous amount of money as a reward!

A thought made Detective Morris frown. He hadn't been able to get in contact with his mole. The mole might be dead.

This meant he might have to get his hands dirty.

He picked up a picture of Katherine. Since she just joined the family, she just might be the weakest link.

Outside GiorgIo's house.

Her hesitation fell into Giorgio's eyes, directly implying guilt.

He grabbed her wrist and his voice turned icy. "Can't say it? Or too ashamed to say it? Anna, I never thought you would be so audacious, carrying the identity of Mrs. Vittorio, acting recklessly. Katherine would never be as reckless as you."

What?

Katherine would never act recklessly like her? Or lack self-restraint?

He held Katherine's opinion in such high regard, yet had such a low opinion of her?

Anna found it laughable.

She looked at him, her gaze three parts angry and seven parts mocking.

"Yes, that's exactly who I am! If Katherine is so good, why don't you go be by her side and awaken her with love? What are you doing here?"

Her words were sharp and piercing, like roses, like hedgehogs.

So, she was admitting to seducing Giuseppe?

Giorgio's face immediately turned dark, colder than the ice and snow of midwinter.

He pulled her forcefully and dragged her upstairs, throwing her onto the bed.

The forcefulness was far from gentle.

His tall figure standing by the bed was even more dangerous.

Anna's face turned deathly pale, alarmed as she asked, "What are you doing?"

"What am I doing? Aren't you supposed to know?"

Giorgio's words were cold and eerie. He swiftly removed his suit jacket, followed by loosening his tie and tossing it aside.

Each movement exuded an exceptional elegance and charm.

Yet, at the same time, an intimidating presence emanated from him.

Anna had a vague idea of what he intended to do, feeling scared and resistant, she stood up.

"I'll go check if Charlie and Penny have returned."

It was an excuse, but also a reminder that he was the children's father and should remain rational.

Giorgio thought of the intimate scene between her and Giuseppe, and a strong anger filled his heart.

He grabbed her delicate wrist, pulling her back, his gaze deep and icy.

"Why run? You're even seducing Giuseppe. Aren't you just lacking a man? Huh? Since that's the case, I don't mind fulfilling your request." With those words, he grabbed her chin, lifted it up, and forcefully locked his lips onto hers.

"Mmm! Mmm!" Anna's eyes widened, and she struggled desperately.

What was he doing? Had he gone mad?

Even if she did have something with Giuseppe, who gave him the right to treat her like this?

She punched him and hit him with all her strength, but how could she stand a chance against an enraged man?

She was like a stranded fish, utterly powerless.

What should she do?

Is that terrible thing going to happen again?

Just when Anna felt helpless and desperate...

"Daddy."

"Mummy."

"Are you guys inside?"

The innocent voices of their two children sounded outside the door.

Giorgio finally stopped.

Only then did he notice that the person beneath him had red eyes, tears streaming down her face, and a small face filled with endless fear and anxiety.

Damn it!

It was only natural to punish her for her mistake, but seeing her like this, it seemed like he was the one at fault?

Taking advantage of the moment, Anna pushed him away. "Get out!" Her voice was hysterical, trembling, and choked with sobs.

Giorgio furrowed his brows, coldly staring at her pitiful appearance, and finally stood up.

"This time, I'll let you off the hook. But if there's a next time, I'll show you what a real punishment feels like."

Leaving those words behind, he threw a blanket over her, turned around, and strode out.

As he opened the door, he still wore his dignified appearance, dressed in a tailored suit, completely different from the angry man he was just moments ago.

However, his aura still carried a coldness.

Charlie and Penny saw him and curiously asked, "Daddy, what were you doing in the room? We came back, and you didn't even hear us?"

"Giorgio, did you see our mummy?"

Giorgio lowered his gaze, looking at the two children who only reached up to his knees, and parted his lips.

"I had some things to take care of. Your mummy fell asleep."

"Oh! Shh! Let's go then, so we don't wake up Mummy."

Penny naively believed, gently closed the door, and pulled Giorgio and Charlie away.

With their footsteps, the air quickly became quiet.

Inside the room.

Anna lay in bed, clutching the blanket, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.

She had always felt that she was replacing Katherine, playing the role of his wife, and that they had an equal relationship.

But just now, the humiliation and abuse he had given her shattered her laughable understanding.

In front of him, she was nothing more than a substitute, an inconsequential existence. As long as he was even slightly dissatisfied, he would mercilessly handle, insult her.

Tears fell, drop by drop.

Wetting her cheeks, wetting her neck, wetting the pillow...

The night seemed endless.

The next morning.

Close to 9 o'clock.

The two little ones had already gone out to play, and Anna hadn't come downstairs yet.

Giorgio had finished his morning exercises, read the newspaper, and dealt with some work, yet he still didn't hear any movement.

He couldn't help but furrow his brows. Had he made a mistake? Was there no sign of repentance? Was she still sleeping in?

He stepped upstairs.

Giorgio pushed open the door and was about to get angry, but then he discovered something.

The spacious bedroom was empty and extremely quiet, with no sign of anyone. Sunlight poured in and a gentle breeze rustled through the room. On the bedside table, there was a floating piece of paper.

Giorgio walked over and picked up the paper with his slender fingers.

Then, his expression instantly darkened.
