Chapter 432 Cherish a Man Like Me
Being with him was worth it.
Anna sat on the bed, heart racing and breath hot.
Giorgio didn't say much. He told the doctor to change her meds, reapply the dressing, and give her painkillers, then handed her breakfast.
Anna felt completely cared for, like she was in the palm of his hand.
Despite the awkwardness, all her previous grievances and discomfort vanished, like a clearing after the rain.
His cold and distant demeanor was tough to handle.
After breakfast, Giorgio stepped out to take a call.
Anna got a call from Sara.
"Anna, where are you? I'm pregnant."
'What? Pregnant?' Anna thought.
Anna was shocked: "Fabio's?"
"Yes, he took precautions, but I don't know how I got pregnant."
Sara sounded panicked and helpless.
"What should I do? He definitely doesn't want a child. If he finds out, he'll leave me. Anna, please help me figure this out."
Anna didn't expect this. She comforted her, "Calm down. I'm at Corystania Hospital. I'll ask the doctor and then come to you. But you should talk to Fabio. It's his child; he has the right to know. Maybe it's not as bad as you think?"
Sara sniffled.
"Really? Do you think he might keep the child?"
"Yes. Just ask him and see."
Anna hung up and tried to get up.
Giorgio walked back in.
Seeing her get up, he quickly approached.
"The doctor said you should move less."
She said anxiously, "Sara's pregnant. I need to go back to her. Can you ask the doctor for some meds for the road?"
Giorgio frowned.
"You're injured; you can't handle the strain. Lie down. They are on their own."
Anna shook her head.
"No, Sara's alone in Crownhaven, with no friends. She needs someone, or she'll overthink. I have to be with her."
She remembered feeling desperate, helpless, and lonely herself.
Her phone rang again.
"Anna."
Sara's extreme sobbing came through.
Anna frowned, worried.
"What happened? Don't cry."
Sara choked.
"Your brother told me to deal with it myself and not to appear in front of him. Anna, what should I do? I don't want to lose him."
Fabio was such a jerk!
"Wait for me, I'll come back and stand up for you."
She hung up and angrily tried to get up.
Giorgio grabbed her.
"At Corystania Hospital, without discharge papers, patients can't leave."
Anna was anxious.
"It's just a superficial wound, nothing serious. I have to go back now."
She was really afraid Sara might do something rash.
"Calm down and let me finish," Giorgio said, "I'll get the meds, discharge papers, and notify Tony to prepare the helicopter and apply for the flight route. But you have to stay still and follow my arrangements."
He was calm and efficient.
Anna, very emotional, nodded.
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
Half an hour later, the helicopter landed on an open field.
Giorgio carried Anna onto the helicopter.
The helicopter was spacious and luxurious.
Within minutes, the pilot took off.
Anna's anxious heart gradually calmed as she texted Sara: [I'm on the plane now, don't overthink.]
Sara: [Okay.]
Seeing the reply, Anna relaxed a bit, but couldn't help thinking: 'Why do women always get hurt? Fabio was so heartless, not even wanting his own child.'
"Get some sleep. You'll need the energy for when we get to Crownhaven," Giorgio said softly.
Anna nodded and closed her eyes, but her mind was racing, and she couldn't sleep.
She opened her eyes.
"Fabio is such an egotist, only caring about himself and avoiding responsibility. I really want to fly over and beat him up. If anything happens to Sara, I won't let him off."
She was filled with anger.
Giorgio looked at her and said, "Compared to him, you should know that a man like me is one of a kind. You should cherish that."
He took the chance to highlight his own virtues.
Anna almost laughed.
But undeniably, Giorgio, after knowing about the 'child,' didn't act heartlessly like Fabio; he took responsibility and thought about the child.
He was indeed different.
"Anna, I won that bet," Giorgio reminded her.
The bet was that if he won, she would take a step forward.
Anna remembered, feeling nervous and anxious.
Yes, he won.
The courage she needed, he had already given her, and she should logically take that step.
But she didn't know why she was hesitating, feeling lost and unsure, always lacking the courage.
Maybe it was family ties, moral shackles, or fear of love.
Not loving meant not hurting.
She didn't answer him.
Her mind wandered until she gradually fell asleep.
With her back injured, she slept on her stomach, which wasn't very comfortable.
Giorgio watched her toss and turn, finally sighed, and gently held her, letting her rest on his shoulder.
Gradually, Anna slept soundly, like a well-behaved kitten.
Giorgio, inhaling her sweet natural scent, felt an urge to take a bite.
This woman who made him feel so content and happy, who risked her life to save him and confessed her feelings, he naturally wouldn't let go.
She slept peacefully and comfortably.
After a long sleep, Anna was awakened by her phone ringing. She groggily found it and answered.
"Anna, where are you? I want to go out for a walk, but the doctor is stopping me. At first, I thought your brother still cared about me a little, sending doctors to watch over me, but later I found out they were Mr. Vittorio's people. He really doesn't care about me at all and even put me on his blacklist. How could he be so heartless? I've been sleeping with him for so long, always cooperating with him, and he doesn't care at all?"
Crying came through the phone.
Heartbreak plus pregnancy often led to a girl's breakdown.
Anna felt her heart soften.
"I told you not to mess around with him, but you didn't listen. Let me check the time; we should be almost there. Wait for me, I'll call him and give him a piece of my mind, then drag him in front of you."
"Don't do that," Sara anxiously said, "He's very proud. If you scold him, he'll just ignore us. Anna, just tell him I'm dying and ask him to come see me. Please."
Anna was speechless.
At this point, she was still so humble.
But she couldn't contradict her and upset her, so she agreed and hung up.
Then, as it quieted down, she suddenly realized—She was sitting in Giorgio's lap!
