Chapter 106 Who is the Savior?
Quentin felt that it was right for Lauren to leave him because it was too unsafe around him. Seeing that Lauren was safe and sound, Quentin was finally relieved.
At that moment, Ethan also came upstairs. When he saw Quentin affectionately stroking Lauren's cheek, his anger surged.
"Quentin, what do you think you're doing?" Ethan rushed over and shoved Quentin aside.
Quentin did not retaliate. He stood up dazedly and turned around, saying, "Take good care of her. Make sure she never has to go through this again."
Ethan looked at Quentin mockingly. "What exactly happened today? How do you find this place?"
"Don't tell her that I was here. I don't want our relationship to become more complicated," Quentin said coldly.
Quentin's words only infuriated Ethan further. "What do you mean by that? Is Lauren just a burden to you?"
"Isn't she? If you want to win her heart sooner, don't mention me in front of her. I trust you're smart enough to figure that out." Quentin cast a cold glance before walking away without looking back.
He should have leave Lauren's world more thoroughly so that she could be happy. He could see Ethan's genuine care for her, and he'd fulfill their wish if Ethan could make her happy
Ethan glared at Quentin's departing figure viciously, "I don't need you to teach me that!"
No matter what, Lauren was saved.
When Lauren woke up again, she found herself in the hospital with Ethan by her side.
"Ethan," Lauren called out his name, both happy and frightened.
Ethan immediately rushed over to her, "Lauren, you're awake. Are you okay? Do you feel any discomfort? How's your stomach? Does it hurt?"
Ethan's caring eyes and words warmed Lauren. "I was so scared. I thought..."
Finally, Lauren couldn't hold back and started to cry.
Today's events were truly too sudden and terrifying for Lauren. She was genuinely afraid she might die in that place.
Luckily, she had Ethan. Otherwise, she would have had no help and might have died in silence.
Ethan held Lauren in his arms and gently comforted her, "It's all over now. Don't be afraid. I will protect you."
After crying, Lauren was completely freed of her fear. She thought that it was Ethan who had saved her, and her gratitude and dependence on him grew stronger.
"Ethan, I'm really sorry. You lost five million dollars because of me. Don't worry. I will work hard to earn money and repay you," Lauren said earnestly.
Ethan didn't want Lauren to feel too burdened, so he told her part of the truth.
"Lauren, the kidnappers didn't take the five million dollars. They were caught while escaping, so the money is back in my hands."
Lauren was overjoyed to hear this. "Really? That's wonderful! Five million dollars is an astronomical figure to me. I was afraid that I could never earn that much in my lifetime. But, Ethan, I still have to thank you. Thank you for risking your life to save me."
Seeing Lauren's grateful smile, Ethan's heart was filled with bitterness. In truth, it wasn't him who saved Lauren but Quentin.
"You don't have to be so polite. The fact that you thought of me first in a dangerous situation makes me very happy. This matter was partly my fault, too. If I had accompanied you to the prenatal check-up, you wouldn't have encountered this," Ethan said.
"How can this be your fault?" Lauren hesitated, unsure whether to tell Ethan about Wendy's involvement in the kidnapping.
At that moment, Ethan asked the very question that she had on her mind, "Lauren, do you know why those two people kidnapped you?"
Lauren froze. After thinking it over, she decided not to say anything. After all, Wendy's resentment over her career being ruined was somewhat understandable, as she also had something to do with it.
However, if there were a next time, she would not tolerate it.
"I don't know. Maybe they thought that I look like someone wealthy, so they kidnap me for ransom," Lauren said, her face was expressionless and downcast.
Considering Lauren's condition, Ethan didn't press further. He told her to rest well and that they would deal with these troubling matters later.
Besides, Ethan had some things he needed to sort out today. 'Quentin, are you really willing to let go of Lauren?' he thought.
After dealing with the kidnappers, Quentin drove straight to Wendy's place. It was time to settle some scores.
At that moment, Noah was still negotiating with Wendy. He neither clarified the next steps of their cooperation nor showed any intention of leaving.
Quentin suddenly kicked the door open and stormed into Wendy's house. Seeing Quentin, who was exuding a chilling aura, Wendy didn't dare say a word.
Noah also sensed that something was off with Quentin today. He stepped forward and asked, "Quentin, is everything okay?"
Quentin nodded at Noah and then walked straight to Wendy. Before she could react, a powerful hand gripped her throat, lifting her off the ground.
Wendy's face turned red as she slapped Quentin's hand, tears streaming down her face, looking pitifully at him.
But Quentin didn't let go. Noah was terrified by his actions and quickly ran over, "Quentin, what are you doing? Let go of her! You'll kill her!"
Quentin's eyes were bloodshot, like an enraged beast. "I've warned you many times to stay away from Lauren, but you keep testing my limits. Fine, I'll give you what you want."
Wendy was on the verge of suffocating. Seeing Quentin's fury, she realized her kidnapping of Lauren had been exposed, yet she stubbornly refused to admit it, desperately shaking her head.
Seeing that Wendy would surely die at Quentin's hands if this continued, Noah had no choice but to pry Quentin's hand away.
"Are you crazy? Do you really want to go to jail?" Noah asked.
Quentin released his grip disdainfully, looking at Wendy as if she were trash.
Wendy coughed violently, glaring at Quentin with hatred, thinking, 'How dare you treat me like this? I would definitely seek revenge.'
"What exactly happens? Tell me!" Noah tried to calm Quentin's anger, fearing he might do something even more dangerous.
Quentin glanced at Wendy with disdain. "Ask her yourself."
Wendy looked aggrieved. "I don't know anything! Quentin, do you have any misunderstandings about me?"
Seeing Wendy's lack of remorse, Quentin couldn't be bothered to waste more words.
