Chapter 73 The Final Warning

Quentin angrily left the hotel entrance, oblivious to the fact that his anger stemmed from jealousy just now.

Quentin found it increasingly difficult to understand Lauren. Could it be true that her divorce was because of that man? Quentin refused to believe it, a surge of anger rising within him. If it was indeed the case, he wanted to "burn" Lauren and that man with this fire.

Witnessing the scene between Lauren and Ethan together, Quentin returned to the company feeling upset.

After inquiring, Wendy learned that Lauren had already left The Robinson Family estate, realizing that her plan had been successfully executed. Therefore, she took the initiative to come to Robinson Conglomerate to gauge Quentin's attitude. Since Lauren had sensibly left on her own, could Wendy smoothly take over Lauren's position?

The employees of Robinson Conglomerate were aware that Wendy and Quentin's relationship was unusual. Even without an appointment, she could easily see Quentin. The receptionist made a mistake this time by letting her in without consulting Cecilia.

Proudly, Wendy took the CEO's exclusive elevator straight to Quentin's office floor. Cecilia, surprised to see her, wondering why Wendy had come at such a time when Quentin was in a foul mood.

"Quentin!" Wendy, in a good mood, pushed the door open and walked in.

Quentin was still burning with anger over Lauren's situation. Now Wendy, the catalyst for this, had the audacity to come over on her own. It was a good thing that he was already prepared not to hold her accountable.

"Cecilia, who let her in? What kind of work are you doing?" Quentin scolded Cecilia loudly, the first time he had shown such displeasure towards her.

Cecilia was terrified. "I'm sorry, Quentin, I've failed in my duty."

Cecilia gestured to escort Wendy out. But Wendy, immersed in the joy of soon becoming Quentin's wife, paid no attention to Quentin's unusual behavior.

"Quentin, don't be angry! I know you don't like to be disturbed while working, but I just couldn't wait to see you." Wendy said in a coquettish tone.

At that moment, Quentin finally looked up at Wendy. Her exquisite makeup and attire indicated she had put effort into this visit, but her intentions were misplaced, as she had designed a plan that led to Lauren filing for divorce again.

"Wendy, you're quite cunning! However, you don't give a shit about me!" Quentin narrowed his eyes, showing a dangerous gaze.

Wendy lightly hopped to Quentin's desk and said, "Quentin, don't be mad at Cecilia. It's all my fault. But let me tell you some good news that will surely make you happy."

Wendy blinked at Quentin. His expression remained cold, but he asked, "What good news do you have to share?"

"Do you know? The movie I starred in, sponsored by Robinson Conglomerate, has been translated into multiple languages and has been airing in several countries. Isn't that good news?" Wendy said excitedly.

"What does this have to do with me? This should be your good news, as you're likely to become a global female star." Quentin said coldly, giving Wendy no face.

Embarrassed, Wendy smiled awkwardly and said, "How does it not concern you? This way, if the movie's box office does well, Robinson Conglomerate will also benefit, right?"

"I don't care if the movie does well or not. Let's talk about what I care about now. Wendy, be honest, did you follow Miss Walker to the hospital for a check-up?" Quentin interrupted Wendy.

Wendy's expression stiffening, she forced a smile, "If you're referring to the incident where I coincidentally met Miss Walker at the gynecology department last time, I can explain that. I wasn't feeling well."

"I only ask, what did you say to Lauren?" Quentin interrupted Wendy.

Wendy seemed sincere as she looked at Quentin, saying, "I didn't say anything, really. I just asked why she was also at the hospital. Is something wrong?" Wendy inquired cautiously.

Refusing to admit to her actions, Wendy knew Quentin wouldn't press her further. He simply didn't want to engage in a confrontation with her.

Finally, Quentin stood up from his chair, glaring at Wendy. "You're not allowed near Lauren in the future, or you'll regret it."

Wendy's face turned extremely ugly. She didn't expect Quentin to confront her face to face because of Lauren. Her ambition to become Mrs. Robinson won't waver, so she would continue with her facade.

"Alright, Quentin. I'll go along with whatever you say, just don't be upset, okay? We're having a celebration tonight, come join us." Wendy warmly invited Quentin.
“I’m not going. You'd better shape up.”

After saying that, Quentin grabbed his notebook and walked outside, leaving behind a bewildered Wendy.
Wendy was taken aback by Quentin's coldness. In order to prevent outsiders from noticing their argument, she continued to stride confidently out of Robinson Conglomerate.

Ethan had work to attend to, while Lauren, feeling bored, went out for a walk. Lost in her thoughts, she found herself standing in front of Robinson Conglomerate's imposing building.

Lauren stood at the roadside, gazing at the towering building of Robinson Conglomerate in the distance. Mixed emotions flooded her mind as she pondered how hard Quentin must have worked to reach this point and whether he felt lonely sitting in such a high position. Her thoughts were consumed by Quentin.

Although she had initiated the divorce agreement, she couldn't help but miss Quentin now. She felt like her heart had been stolen by him. At that moment, Wendy emerged from Robinson Conglomerate, looking like a lady of the house, which hurt Lauren deeply.

In that moment, Lauren felt foolish. Wendy was pregnant with Quentin's child. She had divorced Quentin. What right did she have to come here again?

It was only natural for Wendy to visit her future husband here, but she hadn't yet adjusted to her new identity as just an ordinary Lauren, no longer Mrs. Robinson.

Tears streamed down Lauren's face uncontrollably. Suddenly, her stomach cramped a few times, reminding her of the doctor's instructions. The doctor had advised her to control her emotions, avoiding extreme highs and lows. The baby's condition wasn't optimistic, but she had deliberately concealed her illness to prevent Ethan from worrying.
