Chapter 446 Heartless Rejection

Meanwhile, the wedding continued. After hearing Odette's response, the priest nodded approvingly.

He then turned to Quentin and asked, "Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer?"

Quentin nodded and replied curtly, "I do."

The priest nodded again, but just as he was about to proceed, Lauren suddenly stood up and shouted, "I object!"

Everyone turned to look at Lauren in shock, and even the violinist stopped playing. The entire room was focused on her.

The air seemed to freeze, and everyone was stunned, waiting to see what Lauren would do next.

Lauren walked to the center of the aisle, her eyes locked on Quentin with unwavering determination.

"I thought I could forget you, that I could move on and forget everything that happened between us. But I was wrong. Everything about you is etched deeply in my mind, impossible to erase," she said earnestly.

Her eyes, calm like a still ocean, locked onto Quentin's. "I don't think you can forget either, can you?"

Quentin was taken aback by Lauren's sudden interruption, staring at her in disbelief.

Lauren took a step closer to Quentin, her eyes filled with tenderness. "I know you still love me, don't you?" she asked anxiously.

Gregory was completely thrown off by Lauren's unexpected appearance, his thoughts in disarray.

Matthew, standing nearby, jumped up excitedly, almost breaking free from the man holding him back.

If it weren't for the strong grip of the man in black, Matthew would have already escaped.

"Matthew, stay still," Gregory ordered, fearing their cover would be blown, and quickly instructed the man in black to hold Matthew down.

Quentin's emotions were a whirlwind.

On one hand, he was deeply moved by Lauren's bold declaration, but on the other, he felt conflicted.

Kimberly and Matthew hadn't been rescued yet, and any rash actions could lead to disastrous consequences.

Quentin clenched his fists tightly, looking at Lauren with a thoughtful expression.

Odette was tense, seeing Lauren suddenly stand up to stop the wedding.

'No wonder Lauren seemed off earlier; she must have planned to stop this wedding all along,' Odette thought, pointing at Lauren angrily. "Lauren, what do you think you're doing?"

Lauren ignored Odette, her eyes still shining as she expressed her feelings to Quentin.

"I can fool everyone else, but I can't fool myself. Quentin, I love you more than anything in this world."

Quentin was overjoyed by Lauren's confession, but he knew the timing wasn't right. He needed to buy more time.

Quentin tightened his fists, looking at Lauren coldly. "Lauren, who gave you the courage to say these things? We're over."

Each word Quentin spoke was like a dagger to his own heart.

Lauren's smile vanished instantly, and she stood there, heartbroken, tears streaming down her face, feeling nothing but pain.

It felt like her heart was being pierced by a thousand swords, the surrounding noise fading into insignificance.

Quentin's cold tone and gaze made Lauren feel like she was standing in a freezing wasteland.

Seeing Lauren's devastated expression, Quentin's heart ached even more, but he maintained his icy facade.

"Who told you I still love you? Stop deceiving yourself, Lauren," Quentin said mercilessly, trying to stall for time.

Lauren felt all her strength drain away, collapsing to the ground.

Sophia rushed to support Lauren, trying to help her up, but Lauren sat there like a puppet, staring blankly at Quentin, her spirit crushed.

Sophia sighed, and Noah gently pulled her back to their seats, whispering, "This is their issue; they need to resolve it themselves."

Tears soaked Lauren's face, the wind gently lifting strands of her hair.

Lauren looked at Quentin, a bitter smile forming on her lips.

Odette, initially worried Quentin might accept Lauren's plea, felt triumphant seeing him reject her.

Odette walked up to Quentin, leaning her head on his shoulder, smugly looking at Lauren. "Lauren, this is my wedding. Why do you keep disrupting it?"

"I wanted you to be part of our celebration, to give us your blessings, but you shamelessly tried to ruin it again."

Quentin remained unmoved, while Gregory was surprised by Quentin's ruthless severance from Lauren.

The guests began to murmur, and Matthew couldn't hold back his anger.

Matthew had been sure Quentin would reconcile with Lauren, but seeing him reject her so harshly, he couldn't stay silent.

Stomping his foot, Matthew caused the man holding him to yelp in pain and release him.

Matthew seized the moment, pushing Gregory aside and running towards the center of the wedding.

Before Gregory could react, Matthew had already escaped.

"You useless fools can't even handle a child," Gregory roared, the men lowering their heads in fear.

Matthew reached Lauren, pointing at Quentin and shouting, "How can you treat Mom like this? She's done so much for you, and you just reject her? Was everything before a lie?"

Quentin was shocked to see Matthew appear and confront him.

Unaware of Quentin's plan, Matthew continued, "Do you know how much Mom loves you? Yet you keep breaking her heart. The bride should be Mom, not this awful woman next to you."

Quentin felt a surge of joy seeing Matthew, but Odette, seeing Matthew's intrusion, lifted her dress and stormed over, grabbing Matthew by the collar and slapping him hard, causing him to stumble and fall.
