Chapter 369 Treating Guests

Lauren had just returned home when she received a text message from Gregory.

They had exchanged phone numbers before parting ways, saying it would be convenient for future contact.

Gregory texted: [Did you get home?]

Lauren replied: [Just walked in, and you texted me right on time.]

After sending the message, Lauren couldn't help but chuckle. Whenever she communicated with Gregory, she always felt an inexplicable ease, like they were old friends who had known each other for years.

Shortly after sending the text, Gregory called.

"What's up?" Lauren asked.

"I've quit my job," Gregory informed Lauren, "My boss gave me a hard time, so how about you treat me to a meal as compensation?"

"Sure." Lauren glanced at her watch; it was already six in the evening.

"I'll pick the place," Gregory suggested, "I'll come to your place to pick you up in two hours. After a long day, you should freshen up and relax."

Lauren had intended to ask Gregory to come a bit later, but he had already suggested it himself. Seeing how considerate Gregory was, Lauren felt even happier to have met such a friend.

After hanging up, Lauren got up to get ready.

When she went downstairs, she found Gregory's car already there.

"Have you been waiting long?" Lauren asked, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Saying this, Lauren got into the passenger seat. After all, they could now be considered good friends, so there was no need for the previous wariness.

"No worries, I just got here too." Gregory handed Lauren a bottle of mineral water.

"Thanks." Faced with Gregory's kindness, Lauren couldn't help but blush.

Such a thoughtful Gregory was hard not to fall for.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Lauren asked Gregory.

Hearing this question, Gregory seemed a bit embarrassed. "No, maybe they think I'm too ordinary and not wealthy, so they don't want to be with me."

"How could that be?" Lauren sat up straight, finding it hard to believe Gregory would evaluate himself this way.

Gregory was quite handsome and outstanding. Moreover, he was considerate, warm, and sunny, just like the ideal boyfriend in a TV drama.

As for his financial situation, Lauren had high hopes for Gregory.

With his abilities, Lauren believed it wouldn't be long before Gregory succeeded.

"Maybe it's you who doesn't fancy them?" Lauren teased.

Gregory didn't answer immediately. After a while, he said slowly, "Actually, I liked you back in college."

Hearing Gregory's sudden confession, Lauren immediately regretted asking him such a question.

But it was nothing. Lauren comforted herself; it was all in the past.

"And now?" Lauren tried to act nonchalant, so she teased Gregory.

"Now," Gregory looked ahead and smiled, "Guess."

Lauren shook her head.

But seeing Gregory speak so casually, he must have long let go of his feelings for her. After all, so many years had passed, and now she had a family and children.

While talking, Lauren and Gregory arrived at their destination. Lauren had only heard of this restaurant before; it was her first time here.

The dining area was on the top floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows, elegant and exquisite decor, and a pianist playing in one corner of the hall.

Such a dating spot usually required a week's advance reservation. How did Gregory get a table?

Noticing Lauren's confusion, Gregory smiled and explained, "I know a friend who helped me cut the line."

Then, Gregory winked at Lauren, "Keep it down, don't let others hear."

Lauren couldn't help but laugh at Gregory's words.

"You're really making me spend a lot," Lauren said exaggeratedly.

Sitting by the window, the night view of City A was in full view. The bustling streets and the city's neon lights made Lauren feel a bit dazed.

'Quentin hasn't called all day. Is he really wholeheartedly taking care of Odette?' Thinking of this, Lauren felt a bit sad.

Suddenly, Gregory asked,"Where's Quentin?"

Lauren had intended not to think about these things for a while, but Gregory brought it up.

"Why hasn't he called you all day?" Gregory took a sip of his champagne, waiting for Lauren's answer.

"Probably busy." As she spoke, Lauren's eyes couldn't hide her disappointment.

"Lauren, you know, you're not good at lying." Gregory directly exposed Lauren, "We're friends now, you can talk to me about anything."

Lauren pursed her lips and paused for a moment before saying, "It's really nothing."

Seeing Lauren's bitter smile, Gregory's heart ached for a moment.

"Let's not talk about this," Gregory changed the subject, "How about I take you to play a game?"

"A game?" Lauren was surprised, "Here? What game?"

Before Lauren could react, Gregory took her hand and led her to the center of the restaurant's stage.

Gregory nodded to the pianist, who quickly understood Gregory's intention and started playing a new tune.

Gregory made a gesture of invitation to Lauren and said softly, "I'd like to invite you to a waltz, may I?"

Lauren shyly covered her face and glanced around, "There are so many people, I'm a bit embarrassed, and I'm not very good at dancing."

"No worries, I'll lead you." Gregory took Lauren's hand and smiled gently. "Trust me."

Perhaps it was the magic of the music and the alcohol, Lauren gradually let go of herself and danced with Gregory.

At this moment, there was no Odette, no Quentin, only her pure joy.

For the first time in many days, Lauren felt incredibly relaxed.

Dancing too freely, Lauren accidentally twisted her ankle and was about to fall. Gregory quickly grabbed her hand and held her waist.

The music stopped there, and the onlookers couldn't help but applaud Lauren and Gregory, thinking it was a deliberately designed scene.

Seeing Gregory's affectionate gaze, Lauren's face quietly blushed.
