Chapter 376 Crisis

"How could this happen?" The next day, when Quentin returned to the company, he saw that everyone was extremely busy.

People were either on the phone or running around with folders.

Quentin's secretary, Vincent Smith, informed him that all the investors who had previously agreed to collaborate on developing a new product had pulled out overnight.

However, the company had already sent the design blueprints to the factory, and at least ten thousand samples had been made. Most of the finished products were halfway through production, and it was almost time to pay the final installment. If the company chose to terminate the project now, it would lose at least half of the investment funds.

"Didn't they give a reason?" Quentin sat at his desk and began reviewing the previously signed contracts.

"No," Vincent shook his head. "They insisted on withdrawing their investment, no matter how much we increased the profit share."

Quentin crumpled the contracts into a ball, his face stern. "Blacklist all these companies. Refuse any future collaborations with them."

"Yes," Vincent nodded and began to take notes.

Vincent understood Quentin's temper well. The companies that broke the contract today would not only lose future collaboration opportunities but might also be targeted.

"Moreover, because this project was high-risk, we didn't mention breach of contract penalties in the agreement when we sought financing." After a long pause, Vincent finally told Quentin this.

Hearing this, Quentin understood that someone was deliberately plotting against Robinson Conglomerate to bring it down.

Quentin quickly came up with a countermeasure, straightened his sleeves, and regained his composure. "Get things ready; we're going to the Cloud Group."

"Yes," Vincent hurriedly went to call the Cloud Group to make an appointment for Quentin.

Since those investors had withdrawn, they would just find another partner.

Quentin knew that although this project was risky, it also meant that if it succeeded in entering the market, it would bring enormous profits.

With such tempting conditions, it would be hard for anyone to refuse a share of the profits.

Quentin had never collaborated with the Cloud Group before but had heard of it. He knew it was a company that could rival Robinson Conglomerate.

To secure financing quickly and continue the project to minimize losses from halting production, they needed to find a financially strong company to partner with.

With this in mind, Quentin knew he had to sign this contract with the Cloud Group; they were the only option.

Upon arriving at the Cloud Group, Quentin noticed that the interior design was somewhat similar to Robinson Conglomerate. However, he didn't think much of it, guessing it was probably done by the same design company.

After meeting the Cloud Group's president, Steven, Quentin explained his purpose.

After listening to Quentin, Steven quickly agreed to collaborate.

"But I have one condition," Steven said, leaning back in his chair with his hands clasped.

"What is it?" Quentin thought it would be a demand for a higher profit share, which he could agree to given the current circumstances.

"I can give you an additional ten percent of the profit share, but I want the design copyright," Steven said with a slight smile, making it hard to read his thoughts.

Quentin hesitated. If that were the case, would it still be his company's product?

Seeing Quentin's concern, Steven continued, "Don't worry, I only want the design copyright. The production and sales will still be entirely in Robinson Conglomerate's hands. I can also guarantee that the Cloud Group will not sell this design copyright to anyone else."

Hearing this, Quentin readily agreed.

Steven added, "But I hope Robinson Conglomerate can also guarantee not to sell the design to anyone else before the first batch of products is released. Otherwise, I won't let you off."

Quentin felt a bit disdainful. He had always looked down on such low-level money-making tactics.

Robinson Conglomerate was a well-known company in City A and didn't need to skirt the edges of legality.

After reaching an agreement with Steven, Quentin quickly signed the contract.

After Quentin left, Gregory emerged from a room in the office.

"Mr. Walker," Steven stood up and offered the president's chair to Gregory.

Looking at the contract on the table, Gregory's lips curled into a slight smile. "Quentin, you're in for some trouble."

"To the cemetery," Quentin instructed Vincent after getting into the car.

Vincent nodded and drove in the opposite direction of the company.

Vincent felt a bit complicated, worried that Quentin was in a bad mood because he only went there when he had something on his mind.

The cemetery was where Quentin's parents and grandmother were buried.

Quentin placed a bouquet of white flowers gently in front of the tombstone.

He had many questions he wanted to ask his father but was worried he was overthinking. Even if he asked, no one would answer.

Quentin had little emotional connection with his father, Oscar Robinson. Quentin had been sent to Jessica's place from a young age and was raised by her.

Quentin rarely saw Oscar and, due to his young age, only remembered meeting Oscar once.

That was at Oscar's funeral. Oscar and Quentin's mother had died in a car accident on their way back.

"Mr. Robinson," Vincent called Quentin softly, reminding him it was getting late and they should head back.

"Investigate Gregory and the Cloud Group for me," Quentin stood up, his expression unusually serious. "Find out who they really are."

"Yes." Vincent said.

At that moment, Quentin's phone suddenly rang. Seeing it was Lauren calling, he hesitated for a moment before answering.

"What's up?" Quentin asked.

"I heard something big happened at the company after I arrived. I was worried about you." Lauren said.

Before Lauren could finish, Quentin interrupted, "It's all taken care of now."

"Really? That's great," Lauren sighed in relief. As expected of Quentin, he always quickly came up with solutions to problems.
