Chapter 139

In Quentin's heart, Lauren was indeed initially as those reporters had said. She had used the life-saving grace she extended to Jessica to secure her position as his wife.

Thus, for the past two years, Quentin had been filled with disdain for Lauren and wouldn't even spare her a glance.

However, he slowly realized that Lauren had a glow about her and changed his attitude; she slowly and truly entering his inner world.

With Lauren's confession today, Quentin realized for the first time that he had misjudged her.

It turned out that Lauren had never married him for the sake of the Robinson Conglomerate but because of that long-forgotten car accident.

Quentin felt completely relieved. He looked at Lauren with affection, gently raising his hand to wipe away her tears.

"Don't cry," Quentin comforted,

Capturing this tender moment of Quentin, the reporters below were unsettled. They had never imagined that Quentin could treat a woman so gently. It seemed he had truly found someone he loved this time.

The reporters no longer had any doubts about their relationship and sensibly refrained from probing further into those questions.

"I apologize, Mrs. Robinson. We wrong you without proper investigation. I believe it must be your sincerity that won Mr. Robinson's love. Indeed, good deeds are rewarded, and you deserve Mr. Robinson's love. I apologize for my previous inappropriate remarks," said the most influential reporter in City A graciously.

Lauren smiled and extended her hand graciously, saying, "It's alright. I'm glad to have the opportunity to clear things up."

Seeing this, the other reporters also apologized and offered their blessings to Quentin and Lauren.

"Mrs. Robinson, I've seen your grace and intelligence today. You are indeed the most suitable for Mr. Robinson. You love him so much, and I believe Mr. Robinson truly loves you too. I wish you both happiness and joy."

"Thank you," Lauren said with a smile, feeling a sense of relief. Finally, this matter was perfectly resolved, and she would no longer be questioned by others, which was the most important thing.

Lauren exhaled a breath of relief, but Quentin kept his eyes fixed on her. He would never let go of her in this lifetime.

Seeing that the matter was resolved, Noah went on stage to discuss the content for tomorrow's morning paper with the reporters.

But Quentin insisted on pulling Lauren away. He just wanted to hold her and kiss her. He had wronged her for so many years.

"Quentin, let go. I can walk by myself. I'm not so weak yet." Lauren struggled as Quentin pulled her off the stage. He then scooped her up and took her backstage.

Quentin, full of deep affection, said, "Why don't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?" Lauren was puzzled. She thought she had shared everything that needed to be said on stage.

Quentin slowly approached Lauren, his face inches from hers, making her nervous.

"Quentin, what's wrong with you?" Lauren asked.

"Why didn't you tell me these things over the past two years? If you had, I wouldn't have wronged you and been angry with you so that we wouldn't have missed out on two years together." Quentin's voice was hoarse yet alluring. His breath enveloped Lauren, causing her to go limp in his arms.

"You never give me a chance to explain," Lauren replied and felt a surge of grievance. Quentin had forgotten too quickly. He had rarely come home in those two years. She didn't have the means to seek him out actively.

"I'm sorry. I am willing to spend the rest of my life making it up to you, Mrs. Robinson. What do you think?" Quentin said, gently kissing Lauren.

Lauren playfully dodged. Someone could come backstage at any moment.

Being intimate here was quite inappropriate.

"I don't think it's a good idea!" Lauren laughed as she escaped Quentin's embrace.

Forgiving him so easily was impossible. She was determined to make him make it up to her, bit by bit. She couldn't let Quentin off so easily.

With her pregnant belly, there was no way Lauren could escape Quentin's grasp.

With a few strides, he caught up to the playful Lauren, holding her tightly in his arms, unwilling to let go.

"Lauren, promise me, let's remarry!" Quentin said.

Lauren blushed in Quentin's arms. She couldn't understand why he was too fixated on this. She would remarry him, just not now.

"Will you agree or not? Say something." Quentin grew anxious, biting Lauren's ear gently, sending tingles through her body.

"Let go of me! I'll agree, okay?" Lauren pleaded.

Hearing the satisfactory answer, Quentin finally let go. "Thank you, Lauren. Thank you for loving me and for still believing in me. Rest assured, I will be a good husband and a good father, and I love you and our child dearly."

"Don't say thank you. We are family." Lauren smiled.

Quentin kissed Lauren's forehead and eagerly said, "Once this storm passes, we'll go register."

Lauren nodded. "I want to wait until after the baby is born, to have a double celebration."

Quentin frowned. "Why wait for the baby? I mean, we can do it in a few days."

"Just listen to me this once, okay?" Lauren pouted. He had promised to love her well. Had he forgotten already?

Under Lauren's gaze, Quentin finally relented. Fine, as long as she agreed to remarry, she couldn't escape anyway.

The next day's entertainment news was favorable. The reporters who attended the press conference yesterday all stood up to speak for Lauren, and there was even a video of Lauren emotionally recounting her love story with Quentin.

For a time, public opinion sided with Lauren, and those who had previously exposed the matter became the targets of criticism.

People began to accuse them of ill intentions, deliberately framing Lauren. Some even tried to expose them but failed as they stayed deeply hidden. Eventually, the issue died down.

At Lauren's house, she and Quentin were packing their luggage.

"Quentin, when did you buy this house?" Lauren asked. She had never thought that this house was under Quentin's name.

Quentin smiled. "From the moment you decided to rent it. The landlord told me as soon as you called."

"Quentin, you hide it well! I finally found a satisfactory house, only to have you buy it. Haven't I been toiling in vain these past few months? And did all the rent I paid go to you?" Lauren asked.

"Yes. You can't escape me," Quentin said proudly. To avoid revealing his identity, he had no choice but to collect the rent.
