Chapter 382 The Purpose of Acting

"Of course, Ms. Foster, there's another way you can get me in trouble. You could have brought a recorder, recorded everything I said, and handed it over to the friendly police." Gregory said, a dangerous smile appearing on his face that resembled Quentin's. "But judging by your expression, you weren't smart enough to do that. You probably rushed over here to question me as soon as you saw the news about Quentin's car accident."

Odette's face was pale, her lower lip nearly bitten through, and her legs felt weak. She had to try hard not to collapse to the ground.

Gregory was absolutely right.

"Aren't you afraid I'll tell Quentin about this?" After a long pause, she finally managed to squeeze out this sentence. Quentin was her last card.

"If you're willing to be hated by him, sure. Even if he doesn't hate you, you'd still face criminal charges. Leaking trade secrets—how many years would that get you if convicted?"

Gregory wasn't afraid of Odette's so-called invincible Quentin. In fact, he was looking forward to Quentin's reaction upon learning the truth.

Odette, protected by Quentin for years, had destroyed his Robinson Conglomerate just to compete with his wife.

'His reaction will be priceless!' Gregory thought.

Gregory said, "In light of our collaboration, I won't expose you. Anyway, Noah will find you sooner or later. Enjoy a few good days while you can. And here's a piece of advice. Don't collaborate with others if you don't have the skills."

With that, Gregory stood up from his seat and left.

Odette finally couldn't hold on and collapsed to the ground, her eyes filled with despair.

Why did she get involved with Gregory? Why did she trust someone she had only known for a few days?

She remembered now. It was because Gregory's words and actions at Robinson Conglomerate had given her the illusion that he was easily manipulated. But she had forgotten one thing.

How could someone who single-handedly developed the Cloud Group be simple?

The day after Quentin woke up, Noah found the hospital. Surprisingly, Sophia didn't come.

"Lauren, you look even more beautiful after a few days." Noah joked with Lauren as usual, reverting to his old self in Sophia's absence.

"Where's Quentin?" Noah asked.

"He's inside." Lauren's eyes dimmed a bit.

"Is something wrong?" Noah keenly sensed that something was off with Lauren.

Lauren didn't answer, silently opening the door to let Noah in.

Quentin was reading a book. Although he didn't remember who he was or anyone else, he surprisingly retained knowledge, likely because his native language was ingrained in him.

Sensing someone enter, Quentin looked up. His once sharp eyes now scanned Noah and Lauren, finally resting on Lauren. "Who is this person?"

As soon as he spoke, Noah felt his breath catch.

Could Quentin have amnesia?

This bold idea began to take shape in Noah's mind.

"His name is Noah. He was your colleague, and you grew up together as good friends," Lauren explained, confirming Noah's suspicion.

Quentin nodded in understanding. He carefully placed a bookmark in his book, set it aside, and asked, "Do you need something from me?"

Noah didn't know how to respond; he hadn't anticipated this situation.

"He came to see you," Lauren answered for them. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yes, much better." Quentin waved his arm to prove his point, then gestured for Lauren to come closer.

Lauren didn't understand but obediently walked over. "What's up?" she asked.

"I want some fish soup," Quentin said seriously, making Lauren laugh. "You looked so serious; I thought it was something important."

"It is important," Quentin said, making Lauren blush.

"Alright, I'll go buy some fish," Lauren said, her face red. Why was Quentin so good at charming her after losing his memory?

Her heart felt sweet, as if filled with honey.

Quentin said, "Come back soon and stay safe."

After Quentin's reminder, Lauren left, closing the door behind her.

"Quentin, do you really have amnesia?" Noah asked, unwilling to believe it. The once proud Quentin now lay in a hospital bed, his head wrapped in bandages.

"What do you think?" Quentin replied calmly. His eyes, gentle a moment ago, regained their sharpness.

This change made Noah breathe a sigh of relief.

"You were so convincing," Noah shrugged, thinking Quentin had a talent for acting. "So, you sent Lauren away on purpose. Do you have a reason? Or something to give me?"

Quentin nodded, appreciating Noah's quick thinking.

"Stay at Robinson Conglomerate and keep an eye on Gregory," Quentin said. "If possible, I want you to investigate Gregory's past, every detail. And help calm Lauren down over the next few days. Don't let her know I'm faking amnesia."

"Okay," Noah agreed.

"But who exactly is Gregory?" Noah asked. Before Quentin could answer, he continued, "Why don't you tell Lauren?"

Quentin was silent for a moment before revealing the unbelievable truth. "Gregory is my biological brother."
