Chapter 465 Thoughtfulness

"I get it," Lauren replied, feeling grateful for the first person to show her some kindness. She wasn't about to make a big deal out of it.

"Listen, I know some of you might have some misconceptions about me. Let me clear things up: your former lead designer was Maeve, but she made some mistakes and got let go. I earned this position fair and square."

Normally, Lauren wouldn't care about what others thought of her, but she didn't want to cause Quentin any trouble.

Still, some employees weren't convinced. "Sounds nice, but it just looks like you're using your connections. How could you compare to Maeve?"

Seeing the low morale, Terrence quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Hey, to welcome our new colleague, let's have dinner tonight. It's on me."

"No need," the employee who spoke earlier stood up abruptly. "I'm not feeling well today, so I won't be joining you all after work."

Shortly after he left, several other employees followed suit with flimsy excuses. Everyone knew what was really going on.

Lauren didn't seem bothered at all. She smiled at the remaining employees. "Anyone else want to leave?"

A brave female employee spoke up, "Mrs. Lauren Robinson, will Mr. Quentin Robinson be joining us tonight? If he is, I won't leave no matter what."

The room erupted in laughter, with some people egging her on. "Yeah, is Mr. Robinson coming? If he is, we definitely want to see him."

Lauren smiled at the source of the voice. "Since you all want him to come, it's not impossible."

The department was stunned for a moment, then everyone got excited.

"Really? Will Mr. Robinson come? I've never seen him in person!"

"That's Mr. Robinson! A business legend! I can't believe I'll see him with my own eyes!"

Originally, everyone felt distant from Lauren, but because of Quentin, they warmed up to her, and the atmosphere became more harmonious.

Terrence breathed a sigh of relief, glad things turned out well.

Later in the afternoon, Lauren sent Quentin a message: Mr. Robinson, would you honor me with your presence at dinner tonight?

Quentin called back quickly, his voice tinged with amusement. "What made you think of inviting me to dinner today?"

Lauren laughed awkwardly, and Quentin quickly sensed something was off. "What are you hiding?"

"Nothing much, just a regular department dinner. My new colleagues want to see Mr. Robinson in person. I'm sincerely inviting you."

Quentin was silent for a moment. Just when Lauren thought he would refuse, he suddenly agreed. "Alright."

"You agreed?" Lauren was slightly surprised. She thought Quentin's tone suggested he would decline.

Quentin raised an eyebrow. "What? You don't want me to agree?"

"No, no, I'm just really happy. See you after work." Hearing Quentin agree, Lauren's tone relaxed. She quickly finished speaking and hung up.

As soon as she hung up, her colleagues surrounded her, eager for gossip. "Well? Did Mr. Robinson agree?"

Lauren smiled mysteriously and finally revealed the answer under their anxious gazes. "He said yes."

The room erupted in cheers.

As the end of the workday approached, everyone grew more excited, frequently glancing at the door. When Quentin finally appeared, the department buzzed with excitement.

"Mr. Robinson! Look, it's Mr. Robinson!"

"Pinch me, am I dreaming? I think I'm hyperventilating."

Amid the commotion, Felix calmly stepped forward. "Mr. Robinson has reserved the restaurant. Those with cars can drive there, and those without will be provided transportation. Can we leave now?"

The entire department was stunned, including Lauren. She hadn't expected Quentin to go to such lengths for her, feeling touched and a bit overwhelmed.

After the initial shock, someone quickly responded, "Let's go, let's go, we're ready."

Everyone hurriedly gathered their things, causing a bit of chaos.

Some colleagues who had left earlier were confused about the excitement.

Upon learning Quentin would join them, some regretted leaving. "If I'd known Mr. Robinson was coming, I wouldn't have left!"

Their regretful comments were met with a disdainful snort from nearby. "Just a woman who used connections to get ahead, and you all worship her?"

"Enough, Isaiah. Don't be so harsh. Maeve might have really made mistakes. I think Lauren's pretty nice and down-to-earth. Watch your words."

Isaiah ignored him and walked away, not joining the dinner. Meanwhile, those who initially said they wouldn't come all showed up, except for Isaiah.

That night, after dropping off the last group, Quentin and Lauren headed back to the villa. Lauren had a bit to drink, her cheeks flushed, and she boldly reached out to Quentin.

"Why were you so amazing today? You surprised me."

"Was I? Just average. Are you satisfied?" Quentin leaned closer, his low voice like a lover's whisper, full of unspoken intimacy.

Lauren tilted her head, resting on Quentin's shoulder. "Very satisfied. Honestly, I was worried about how you'd get along with them. Quentin, thank you."

Quentin waited for her to continue, but she didn't. Turning his head, he saw Lauren had fallen asleep on his shoulder, her lips slightly parted, tempting him.

He quickly looked away, knowing his self-control was no match for Lauren.

The faint smell of alcohol surrounded him, leaving Quentin unsure how to feel. It was a challenging test.

The next morning, Lauren woke up to find Quentin already downstairs. Seeing her, he had Peter bring a small bowl from the kitchen and placed it in front of her. "Milk, drink up."

Lauren drank it quickly, feeling her hangover ease. She looked at Quentin curiously. "Why haven't you gone to the office?"

Quentin didn't answer directly, just checked the time. "You have twenty minutes for breakfast. Hurry up, then ride with me."

"Okay." Lauren was momentarily stunned but quickly realized Quentin had been waiting for her. She picked up her milk, hiding her smile behind the glass.
