Chapter 368 The Cloud Group
"So, are you agreeing to my proposal?" Lauren was a bit surprised. She thought Gregory would take some time to consider, but he agreed so quickly.
"Yes." Gregory nodded. "After all, I wanted to join Robinson Conglomerate from the very beginning."
"Don't worry, I won't shortchange you on salary," Lauren assured him.
"Actually, about the salary..." Gregory hadn't finished speaking when his phone suddenly lit up.
After glancing at the text message, Gregory said to Lauren, "We should get going. We've been talking for too long; my boss is urging me."
Hearing this, Lauren remembered why she had come out in the first place. They had talked for so long that she almost thought they were just out for a stroll.
Raising her hand to check her watch, Lauren exclaimed, "It's already 3 PM."
She had been out of the hotel for so long, and Quentin hadn't texted or called to check on her.
'It seems he's really focused on taking care of Odette. He didn't even notice I wasn't at the hotel.' Thinking this, Lauren couldn't help but feel a bit down.
Gregory drove Lauren to the company entrance. Lauren had heard of the Cloud Group before.
The company was established five years later than Robinson Conglomerate, but its rapid development quickly caught up. If the two companies didn't have different development directions, the Cloud Group would definitely be Robinson Conglomerate's strongest competitor.
Lauren thought entering the company might be a bit troublesome, but no one questioned her even when she got into the elevator.
It seemed everyone already knew Lauren was coming. Moreover, everyone greeted Gregory when they saw him.
It wasn't just the usual greetings between employees; it had a mix of superior-subordinate and friendly conversations.
"Do you know everyone in the company?" Lauren was a bit surprised.
Luckily, there was no one else in the elevator; otherwise, Lauren would have been too embarrassed to ask.
Strangely enough, despite working for so many years, this was Lauren's first time riding an empty elevator.
"Since I'm in the sales department and responsible for running errands, my interpersonal relationships are naturally good," Gregory explained.
"That makes sense," Lauren nodded thoughtfully. She had also worked in sales, but the difference was stark.
"Anyway, I can see that you're very capable. It's a shame you're just running errands here," Lauren felt sorry for Gregory, thinking about how he had been running errands at the Cloud Group for so many years.
"Isn't it fate that I met you?" Gregory joked.
As they spoke, the elevator doors opened, and Gregory led Lauren to the CEO's office.
The CEO was slightly chubby but looked kind and amiable, around fifty years old. This was Lauren's first impression of the Cloud Group's CEO.
Lauren saw the nameplate on the desk, "Steven Hill".
"Mr. Hill," Lauren slightly bowed and greeted Steven.
"Yes," Steven nodded and said nothing more, as if he wasn't in a hurry.
The office fell silent, making Lauren a bit uncomfortable. 'Is he upset that Robinson Conglomerate didn't keep their word?'
Thinking this, Lauren quickly said, "There were some delays at the company, and Mr. Robinson had an urgent matter, so he sent me. I hope you don't mind."
After hearing this, Steven slowly said, "It's fine, no big deal."
Steven glanced at Gregory and then turned his gaze back to Lauren. "Let Gregory show you around. If everything is in order, you can take the contract back for Mr. Robinson to sign. I've already stamped and signed it."
"Okay." Lauren said.
Following Steven's instructions, Gregory led Lauren out.
"Why does it seem like you handle everything?" As soon as they left the CEO's office, Lauren started to feel indignant for Gregory. "You pick people up, negotiate, show samples, and sign contracts."
"No choice," Gregory smiled helplessly. "Maybe it's because my salary is low and my labor is cheap."
"They don't recognize talent," Lauren shook her head. "What a pity."
"It's okay." Gregory gently patted Lauren's head. "Let me finish this last task for the Cloud Group. After all, I'm about to join Robinson Conglomerate."
After this joke, both Lauren and Gregory laughed.
After confirming that the samples matched the design drawings, Lauren took the contract.
"I'll be heading back now," Lauren said to Gregory. "You'll have to handle the resignation procedures yourself. I didn't tell anyone I was coming out."
"No problem," Gregory seemed a bit worried about Lauren. "How about I drive you back? I picked you up, and I won't feel at ease until I see you safely back."
"No need to trouble you," Lauren waved her hand, afraid of wasting Gregory's time. "I'm not going back to the hotel anyway."
"What do you mean?" Gregory frowned slightly. "Where are you going?"
"Home," Lauren looked into the distance, her eyes losing focus. "The hot springs aren't fun at all. I'd rather go home and lie comfortably in bed."
Seeing Lauren's expression, Gregory didn't ask further. "Be safe on the road. Text me when you get home to let me know you're safe."
Lauren nodded, "Okay."
After watching Lauren get into the car, Gregory returned to the company.
"How could you forget your lines in a simple act?" Gregory said to Steven.
"Maybe I was a bit nervous," Steven smiled awkwardly. "After all, we've been preparing for this day for so long; the pressure is quite high."
Gregory shook his head helplessly. "It's over now. You can go."
"Okay," hearing this, Steven immediately stood up from the CEO's chair. "Sitting here makes me anxious."
"This was difficult for you?" Gregory was a bit surprised. "I guess I overestimated your abilities."
"Not really," Steven denied. "But Mr. Walker, is it really worth it for you to do this?"
Gregory's hand clenched into a tight fist. "After all these years, I've never forgotten. What do you think?"
