Chapter 175 The Calm Before the Storm

After a quick chat with Jessica, Lauren took Matthew and Quentin to handle some important stuff.

Luckily, everything went smoothly. Even though Lauren and Quentin were divorced, Matthew received his ID documents without any issues.

Quentin was over the moon when he saw the new IDs, like a kid getting candy.

He walked ahead, totally forgetting his promise to help Lauren with her residency documents.

Lauren didn't want to ruin his good mood, but she knew she had to. She sped up to catch Quentin.

Quentin stopped and looked at her, curious. "What's up?"

"Got any plans later?" Lauren asked.

"Nope," Quentin replied, not suspecting a thing.

Lauren looked at him seriously. "Then can you help me get my residency documents too?"

Quentin's face froze. He forced a smile. "I can't do it today. I don't have the paperwork ready."

"Let's get it ready now. I've got all the other documents here," Lauren said firmly.

Quentin was frustrated but surprised by Lauren's persistence. He knew that delaying would only make her more upset, so he grudgingly went back to the admin office with her.

Quentin walked in grumpily. After Lauren explained their purpose, the staff apologized and said the computer system was down.

Quentin was thrilled. His eyes even sparkled. It seemed like luck was on his side. Seeing Lauren disappointed, he kept quiet.

Lauren glared at the smug Quentin. "Did you have something to do with this?"

"Injustice! I don't have that kind of power," Quentin quickly defended himself. It really wasn't his fault!

Lauren sighed, thinking it was just bad luck. She had to leave reluctantly.

When they returned home, Jessica had set up a delicious meal. Jessica and Quentin enjoyed lunch while Lauren ate blandly, knowing she'd need Quentin's help again.

Lauren wasn't as angry or disappointed as she thought she'd be. She enjoyed lunch and felt calmer watching Quentin and Jessica smile.

While they were enjoying their meal, Sophia was making new moves.

Sarah swayed her hips and walked into the bar with an air of arrogance.

"Spill it, Miss Hall. Why the urgent call? Couldn't you just tell me over the phone?" Sarah asked.

Interrupting Sarah's fun, she had finally gone out with a wealthy man, only to be summoned by several calls from Sophia.

Sophia smiled and handed Sarah a glass of wine. "You asked when Lauren would leave City A. Here's your chance. I'll tell you first."

Sarah's interest was piqued. "Really? Got any proof? What's our next move?"

Sarah never thought things through. She had no clue what Sophia's plan was and didn't bother to ask.

Sophia smiled and explained what happened when Lauren and Quentin went to handle the paperwork today.

Matthew's ID process required the divorce certificate, which proved it.

Sarah was thrilled. "Miss Hall, you're amazing. I can't believe you got those documents. Lauren would never imagine her rival is this powerful."

"Alright, enough flattery. Inform the media about Lauren and Quentin's divorce and upload the evidence," Sophia instructed carefully.

This time, she wanted to destroy Lauren and Quentin's relationship completely, making it impossible for Lauren to go back, just like Sophia once did.

Sarah agreed without hesitation. If she could get Lauren out of City A, she wouldn't have to worry about Ethan being charmed by Lauren.

Sarah left the room excitedly, eager to contact the reporters she knew. She was determined to drag Lauren into hell.

Sophia looked smug. Sarah was dumb, but she picked the right person. She could stay clean while Sarah did the dirty work.

Sophia gently swirled the wine in her glass, smiling seductively and coldly. "Goodbye, Lauren!"

After calling Lauren, Ethan went to the Robinson Estate to pick her up.

Jessica worried as she gazed at Ethan, who was just as impressive as Quentin. Could Quentin win Lauren back?

Quentin smiled at Ethan, mocking him for arriving too late this time.

"Mr. White, it's really kind of you. You should be resting after work, but you came to my house to pick up Lauren. I feel a bit guilty," Quentin declared his claim over Lauren.

But Ethan didn't fall for it. "It's fine. I always help Lauren. This is trivial to me. As her best friend, I should look after her and Matthew."

Quentin snorted coldly, his sharp gaze mercilessly directed at Ethan. This guy was too much of a nuisance. One day, he would make Ethan disappear from Lauren's life.

"Anyway, I still thank you on Lauren's behalf for being her free driver," Quentin said with a forced smile.

Ethan shrugged, indifferent. He took Lauren's backpack and helped her with her things, looking at Quentin with a mocking gaze. Then he disdainfully walked past Quentin, knowing that he was the one standing beside Lauren now.

Lauren only said goodbye to Jessica before leaving the Robinson Estate with Ethan.

In the car, Ethan forced a smile and said, "Lauren, why didn't you let me take you to the Robinson Estate today? I worry about you being alone with Matthew."

"I didn't want to trouble you. I can handle small matters myself." Lauren deliberately hid the fact that Quentin had picked her up today. She didn't know why she did it.
