Chapter 179 Causing a Scene
Seeing Quentin speak so confidently, Ethan started to get suspicious. 'Could Sarah really be behind this?'
"Quentin, I didn't do anything. I'd never hurt Lauren!" Ethan protested.
Quentin sneered. "If that's true, would you dare to confront Sarah with me?"
"Of course." Ethan stood up, ready to go.
Quentin's gaze turned distant. He had bigger issues to deal with and couldn't handle Sarah right now. But he wasn't ready to let her off the hook either.
"Fine, I'll believe you this time. You handle it." Quentin watched Ethan closely, looking for any sign of deceit. If Ethan was proven innocent, Sarah would have to face his wrath. If not, Ethan was in on it too.
"Alright, don't worry. I'll get to the bottom of this. Whoever hurt Lauren won't get away with it. And Quentin, clear my name," Ethan said seriously, meeting Quentin's eyes without hesitation.
Quentin stood up, gave Ethan a sharp look, and then left.
After leaving, Ethan called Sarah but got no answer. He drove straight to her villa, but the gates were closed, and no one was home. Frustrated, he called her friends, but no one knew where she was.
Sophia had planned everything. She didn't tell Sarah how serious things were and instead booked her a trip abroad, saying she needed a break from City A.
When Sarah got to the airport, her phone was full of missed calls. She panicked when she saw Quentin's messages. After Sophia misled her, she realized it was too late to fix anything.
Luckily, she had already left City A. Otherwise, she wouldn't have made it. But now, she couldn't go back. Frustrated, Sarah tried to contact Sophia but couldn't reach her.
Lauren tried to stay calm. After calming Matthew, she couldn't hold back and checked the news on her phone. She realized the incident was real and not just a rumor.
She hadn't expected someone to find and upload her and Quentin's divorce certificate online, and her reputation was in shambles.
Lauren felt desperate. She couldn't defend herself against the truth, and her reputation was ruined. She wanted to leave City A.
Hearing a knock, Lauren frowned, thinking it was reporters again.
Kimberly rushed in, worried. "Lauren, is it the reporters again? Should you call Ethan? I'm afraid we can't handle this."
Lauren looked at Kimberly firmly. "Mom, it's okay. I need to deal with this myself. Stay inside and take care of Matthew. I'll make them leave."
Kimberly looked at Lauren with even more concern. Could her frail daughter really handle those relentless reporters?
Without any surveillance at the old house, Lauren had no idea how many people were outside.
She walked to the door, took a deep breath, and opened it.
She was shocked to see who it was.
"Dad," Lauren said, stunned.
Ulysses glared at her. "Is Kimberly here too?"
Lauren let Ulysses who looked furiousin. She knew he had found her address from the online story. She knew that she couldn't hide it anymore.
Ulysses stormed into the house and headed straight for the bedroom, shouting, "Kimberly, get out here!"
Lauren followed quickly. "Dad, can you calm down?"
"Get out of my way and call Kimberly here, or you'll regret it," Ulysses yelled.
Hearing the commotion, Kimberly didn't want to face him, but she was afraid he might hurt Lauren or scare Matthew. She gently closed the door and came out.
"Why are you here? There's nothing to discuss!" Kimberly said coldly.
"Do you think I'll forgive you for this mess?" Ulysses shouted, grabbing her by the collar. "How many times have I warned you not to cause trouble? Now you've ruined Walker Corporation. I won't let you off today!"
Lauren's heart broke at Ulysses's ferocity, while Kimberly was terrified.
"Ulysses! Are you crazy?" Kimberly shouted.
Lauren ran over and tried to pry Ulysses's hand off. "Dad, calm down. You can't treat Mom like this!"
Ulysses, eyes red with anger, turned to Lauren. "I haven't even started with you! What were you thinking, stealing your mother away? Am I even your father? Should we divorce to make you happy? Fine, as you wish!"
"How can you say that? You and Mom fought, and my life is a mess. How could I want you to like me? Give Mom some peace. She'll rejoin the Walkers after calming down. I never intended to keep her forever," Lauren said, her voice breaking.
Lauren was heartbroken. Her life was already in shambles, and now Ulysses misunderstood and despised her.
Ulysses sneered. "The Robinson family expelled you. You can't inherit their possessions even if you have a son. You're not my daughter! Robinson Conglomerate is near collapse. I'm glad I asked Quentin for money beforehand, or I'd be as poor as you."
Lauren's heart sank completely.
"Did you really ask Quentin for money?" Lauren asked in disbelief.
Ulysses sneered. "Would I be as stupid as you, not fighting for anything? You're living like an idiot."
This time, Lauren was truly disappointed in Ulysses. How could he ask Quentin for money?
Why did Quentin easily grant Ulysses's ridiculous request? Wasn't he the one who hated people like Ulysses the most? What made him so willing this time?
