Chapter 116 Forced Hospitalization
Seeing that Quentin's mental state was quite good, Lauren felt relieved. She sensed her phone vibrating in her pocket and remembered that she had set it to silent mode.
Lauren took out her phone and saw that there was an incoming call from Ethan.
"I'll step out to take this call. Don't move around," Lauren instructed.
Quentin nodded, watching Lauren walk out of the hospital room.
At this moment, Cecilia returned after completing the hospitalization procedures. She was somewhat anxious. Although Quentin's injury wasn't particularly severe, he still needed to be hospitalized for a few days for observation.
The work at the Robinson Conglomerate was always busy, and Quentin was a workaholic. Cecilia didn't know how to persuade Quentin to cooperate with the hospital's treatment.
"Mr. Robinson." Cecilia hesitated. Unfortunately, Lauren wasn't in the room. Otherwise, she might have been bolder, at least with Lauren's help in persuading Quentin.
"If there's nothing else, you can go back to the company," Quentin said indifferently, still wanting to spend some time alone with Lauren.
"Mr. Robinson, the doctor suggests you stay in the hospital for observation. Do you think that's acceptable?" Cecilia asked cautiously.
She could almost imagine Quentin's reaction in her mind, 'He wears either a murderous glare or a cold refusal.'
Cecilia sighed inwardly.
"How many days?" Quentin asked in a calm tone.
Quentin's reaction surprised Cecilia. It wasn't one of the two scenarios she had imagined. This reaction was much better.
"Ten days. No, I'll talk to the doctor and have them reduce it to seven days. Would that be alright?" Cecilia asked.
Quentin frowned, growing colder. Cecilia inwardly cried out in despair, 'There was nothing I could do. I am not a doctor and don't dare to make false promises.'
How could a company as large as the Robinson Conglomerate allow Quentin to be hospitalized for seven days? The business world was ever-changing. No one could afford to let their guard down.
"No, tell the doctor I want to stay here for a month," Quentin said sternly.
Cecilia was momentarily stunned. He thought Quentin was joking, but then she remembered that Quentin never joked. Cecilia's jaw dropped in shock, almost dislocating.
"A month? But what about the company?" Cecilia was surprised.
Quentin shot her a sharp look. "Leave it to Mr. Martin. During this time, no one is allowed to disturb me. Unless it's something major, you don't need to come either. Just follow Mr. Martin."
"Yes, Mr. Robinson." Cecilia was very puzzled. It didn't make sense. Quentin, upon learning he had to be hospitalized for such a long time, not only didn't get angry but actually wanted to stay longer. What was going on?
Cecilia walked out of the hospital room, just brushing past Lauren.
Lauren noticed Cecilia's dazed expression and grew anxious. 'Can Quentin's injury be serious?'
Lauren hurried to Quentin's bedside. "What's wrong? I saw Cecilia looking dazed as she walked out. Is your condition not good?"
Seeing Lauren's worried expression, Quentin felt a pang of guilt but didn't want to miss this good opportunity.
"Yes, the burn is quite severe. The doctor said I need to stay in the hospital for treatment," Quentin said.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Lauren felt even more guilty. "I'm sorry, Quentin. It's all because of me that you got hurt."
"It seems I have to stay in the hospital for many days. I don't want Grandma to know about this. If there's no one to take care of me, it's hard to take care of myself because I injured my arm. " Quentin sighed, waiting for Lauren to offer.
Seeing Quentin looking so sad and disheveled indeed made Lauren's heartache.
Since Quentin got injured saving her, she should take care of him.
"I'll keep it a secret from Grandma. I'll take care of you," Lauren said, looking at Quentin with guilt.
Quentin was secretly pleased. 'An injury that can bring me and Lauren back together is well worth it.'
"Alright. Sorry to trouble you," Quentin said with a smile, though Lauren was too worried to notice.
After hanging up the phone, Ethan was agitated. He had just learned from Lauren about everything that had happened with Quentin.
At this moment, Ethan didn't know what to do. He had a feeling that Lauren was slipping away from him, gradually moving closer to Quentin.
This feeling was particularly real. However, the reality was indeed like that.
Lauren had told Ethan that the plan to move into his villa would be postponed. She needed to stay in the hospital to take care of Quentin.
Ethan couldn't say much. Saying one more word might make Lauren think he was narrow-minded.
Looking at the room he had specially decorated for Lauren, Ethan felt both sad and ridiculous. Lauren had never had him in her heart. The person she loved most had always been Quentin.
However, Ethan was not one to give up easily, so he decided to go to the hospital to see for himself. If Lauren really chose Quentin again, he would step back voluntarily.
Ethan bought some fruit and went to the hospital where Quentin was staying. He knocked on the door of the hospital room, and Lauren opened it.
"What are you doing here?" Lauren was surprised, smiling as she let Ethan in.
"Hello, Mr. Robinson. I heard from Lauren that you are injured, so I came to check on you. How are you? Is the injury serious? Are you alright?" Ethan asked with a forced smile. He had always admired Quentin's dedication to Lauren. Every time, Quentin could risk everything for her.
But Ethan believed that if it were him, he would do the same because his love for Lauren was no less than Quentin's.
"It's alright. The worst-case scenario is that my arm might be disabled, but the rest of my body is fine," Quentin exaggerated, hoping to make Ethan back off from Lauren.
Lauren was terrified upon hearing the word 'disabled.'
"Is he disabled? Didn't the doctor tell us the injury wasn't that serious? How could it be that bad?" Lauren exclaimed.
Lauren was so scared that she was almost in tears. If Quentin became disabled, what would he do for the rest of his life?
The guilt was too much. How could she ever repay him for saving her life?
Ethan understood Quentin's intentions but couldn't help but comfort Lauren, "Lauren, don't get too upset. With modern medicine, I believe Mr. Robinson's arm will recover."
But Lauren didn't hear him. "Does your arm still hurt? Do you want me to call the doctor?"
Quentin couldn't bear it either. "It doesn't hurt anymore. I am talking about the worst-case scenario. Don't worry too much."
Even so, Lauren's brow didn't relax for a second. She knew how dangerous sulfuric acid was and was really afraid of the worst outcome.
