Chapter 454 Push Her into the Sea
"No way!" Quentin's voice was firm. "Ever since Lauren came into my life, I haven't even looked at Odette."
Lauren and Declan both flinched at his words, especially Lauren, who felt a warm glow in her heart.
"Mr. Robinson, you sure know how to spin a tale. You lie so smoothly."
Declan sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. It was hard to tell if he believed Quentin or not.
But Quentin pressed on, "Why don't you ask me how your kid's doing now?"
Declan's lips trembled, his face a mix of fear and excitement. "How is he?"
Quentin looked at Declan with contempt, as if everyone around him was insignificant, like ants he could easily crush. "Dead. Your bond with your kid was so weak that he didn't even get a chance to be born."
Declan's eyes reddened as he sat on the ground, processing Quentin's words.
After a few seconds, he sprang up like a madman, eyes wild, charging at Quentin.
But before he could reach Quentin, Felix pinned him to the ground, immobilizing him completely.
"Quentin, how could you be so heartless? Odette loved you so much, and you killed her child. She will never forgive you! Never!"
"Heartless? The child she was carrying wasn't mine. Besides, no one but Lauren has the right to bear my child. Got it?"
Quentin walked leisurely to Declan, squatted down, and gripped Declan's chin with two fingers before quickly letting go in disgust, as if touching something filthy.
Lauren felt a wave of emotion at Quentin's words, but she noticed Odette trembling even more, which worried her.
"Odette, are you okay? Are you feeling unwell?"
"My head hurts so much."
Odette had heard the conversation between Quentin and Declan clearly.
Though she was too scared to look up, fragmented memories kept flashing before her eyes.
The influx of memories overwhelmed Odette, causing her a headache.
Declan, consumed by anger and pain, suddenly snapped out of it upon hearing Odette's voice.
He struggled to crawl towards Odette. "Odette."
Felix didn't stop him, nor did Quentin. He wanted to see what Declan intended to do.
But Declan seemed to forget how disheveled he looked—blood at the corner of his mouth, sand on half his face, glasses askew and cracked.
Seeing him like this, Odette instinctively hid behind Lauren. "Lauren, who is he? I'm scared. Please don't let him come near me."
The light in Declan's eyes extinguished completely. He had endured everything for Odette, but now she didn't remember him and was terrified of him.
Declan suddenly questioned the purpose of his persistence.
Declan was now useless to Quentin. With a signal, Felix dragged Declan away.
Declan's fate was sealed; he would never return home. Even abroad, he would be stuck with the most menial jobs and meager pay.
Felix and Declan quickly disappeared, and Quentin returned to Lauren's side.
"I know you've been worried about this. Even if you didn't say it, I could tell. Now I've proven my innocence."
Before Lauren could smile, Quentin's gaze shifted to Odette, a dangerous glint in his eyes that made Lauren uneasy.
"Quentin, what are you planning? Odette doesn't remember anything now."
Ignoring Lauren, Quentin spoke to Odette. "Odette, you heard my conversation with Declan, right? Do you not remember him?"
Odette remained behind Lauren, her eyes filled with fear. "I don't remember. Quentin, I don't remember anything. Please don't push me."
"Don't push you? Fine," Quentin's lips curled into a malicious smile. "You don't remember Declan, but what about your child? Do you not remember him either?"
"Quentin!"
Lauren's voice was urgent, desperate to interrupt Quentin, but he wouldn't give Odette a chance to escape.
He forcefully pulled Odette from Lauren's arms and shoved her into the ocean.
The suddenness of it left everyone stunned.
Quentin's swift and precise action sent Odette stumbling into the water, where she fell and was drenched by the waves, choking on seawater, her eyes stinging and tearing up.
"Lauren, Lauren, help me! I feel awful."
Though she had lost her memory, the fear of death lingered in her mind.
Being near the ocean made her feel suffocated, and now, sitting in the water, she lacked the strength to get up.
After a few seconds, Lauren reacted, glaring at Quentin as she moved to pull Odette from the water, but Quentin stopped her. "Lauren, don't go."
"Quentin, what are you trying to do? You know she doesn't remember anything. This isn't right."
Lauren hesitated, looking at Odette struggling in the water, her expression pained. But she didn't defy Quentin, trusting him implicitly despite her disagreement with his actions.
"Lauren, listen to me. She needs to regain her memory quickly. This is the fastest way."
Quentin's face was serious, a momentary struggle in his eyes before they hardened with resolve.
Odette was a ticking time bomb that couldn't stay around.
Lauren's kind heart made her easy to manipulate and deceive, leading her into traps without realizing it.
This was the best chance to make Odette remember the past.
More and more memories flooded Odette's mind. She clutched her head in pain, her wet clothes clinging to her body.
The physical and emotional torment finally became too much, and Odette collapsed.
Only then did Lauren move.
"Odette, Odette, wake up!"
