Chapter 361 Injured

Quentin and Odette were chatting so intimately, were they treating her as if she didn't exist?

Lauren's anger slowly built up, reaching a boiling point.

Sensing the situation, Odette decided not to stay any longer; the couple's quarrel had nothing to do with her.

Seeing the situation was not good, Odette took the initiative to leave. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

With that, Odette took her folder and left, closing the door behind her.

"Odette is quite sensible," Lauren snorted coldly.

Knowing that Lauren was upset about the design plans, Quentin softened his attitude.

He had indeed handled the situation poorly.

"She's more skilled in this area, and Odette didn't say anything about you." Quentin said.

So, according to Quentin's words, was he calling her petty?

"Yeah, I really can't compare. So from now on, just let her handle these things. Or maybe just give her my director position, so you two can communicate more conveniently." Lauren pouted.

"Why have you been so temperamental lately?" Quentin was also angry; he couldn't stand being criticized over one thing repeatedly. He had tried to comfort Lauren, but she didn't appreciate it.

Lauren knew she was in the wrong; she indeed wasn't as good as Odette in designing the brand logo, yet she kept blaming Quentin in her words.

"I'm not, I just..." Lauren didn't know what to say, "I was wrong, please don't be mad."

Quentin waved his hand, resting his head on it, unwilling to look at Lauren. "If there's nothing else, you should go. After all, you're a director now; don't let your subordinates say you're slacking off."

"Alright." Knowing Quentin didn't want to talk to her, Lauren had no choice but to leave.

It seemed that ever since Odette arrived, her relationship with Quentin had been rocky, never peaceful for more than two days.

Lauren had to admit, Odette was indeed the biggest obstacle in her and Quentin's relationship.

The key issue was that their conflicts weren't due to misunderstandings but trivial matters.

Now, Lauren didn't know if she was wrong or overthinking.

Lauren had planned to talk to Quentin that evening, but Quentin said he was busy with work and would stay at the office.

Lauren wanted to ask Quentin if he was mad at her, but she knew that would only make him angrier.

With no other option, Lauren chose to keep quiet, trying to maintain the good image she had left in Quentin's mind.

Quentin stayed at the office for a whole week.

Except for the daily morning meetings, Lauren hardly saw Quentin, let alone talked to him.

So, the upcoming company retreat became something Lauren, who didn't like group activities, looked forward to.

Odette chose West Hill, famous for its hot springs, a place Lauren had never been to.

Knowing it was a hot spring trip, all the employees praised Odette.

Sitting at their desks all day, they really needed this chance to relax.

Someone said, "Odette, you're an angel! How did you know I've been wanting to go to a hot spring?"

Hearing the company's praise, Odette seemed a bit embarrassed. "It's nothing, just thought you all work so hard, so this is a good chance to relax and have fun."

As they were about to depart, everyone gathered at the company entrance.

Not seeing Quentin, and with no response to calls or texts, Lauren had no choice but to board the bus with everyone else.

Lauren, feeling a bit carsick, chose a window seat.

"Why are you alone?" Odette sat next to Lauren, "Where's Quentin?"

Remembering what Lauren had said before, Odette added, "It's not work time now, so calling him Quentin should be fine, right?"

Knowing Odette had ill intentions, Lauren didn't respond, putting on her headphones to listen to music.

Odette said, "I heard Quentin has been staying at the office for a week without going home. Everyone's talking about whether you two had a fight."

"No," Lauren immediately replied.

Her quick response sounded fake, and Lauren regretted her impulsiveness.

Slowing her speech, Lauren continued, "He's just busy with work. After all, he's the CEO, not as free as we are; he has a lot to worry about."

"That's true," Odette chuckled, "We were overthinking."

After the conversation ended, they fell into silence, and Lauren's phone remained silent.

It wasn't until the bus was almost at the destination that Lauren received a text from Quentin. [I'm already at the hotel, just busy with the retreat arrangements.]

Lauren had prepared a lot of complaints, but they vanished the moment she saw the text.

A smile reappeared on Lauren's face. 'As long as he's willing to explain, it's fine. Quentin never lies to me.'

Seeing Lauren's change in mood, Odette knew Quentin had contacted her, and she felt a bit displeased.

As soon as the bus stopped, Odette stood up and said to Lauren, "Ms. Walker, we've arrived. Let's get off."

"Okay." Lauren felt a bit uncomfortable, but with so many people around, she couldn't refuse Odette directly.

As Lauren walked to the bus door to get off, Odette suddenly slipped and fell down the steps.

Caught off guard, Lauren was too shocked to react and forgot to reach out to help her.

"Are you okay?" Quentin, who had been waiting to help Lauren off the bus, saw this and immediately ran over to pick Odette up.

"Why didn't you help?" Quentin reproached Lauren.

Now Lauren really had no way to explain.

Saying she was too shocked sounded too fake, but she really didn't mean not to help.

'She really is fragile,' Lauren concluded about Odette, 'Why does she always get hurt when we're out, and I'm always nearby?'

'Could she be doing it on purpose?' Lauren had a bold guess, 'But she really seemed unintentional, and it wouldn't make sense to fall so hard on purpose, right?'
