Chapter 391 Retribution

Quentin noticed that Noah was rushing around, but he didn't want to ask why. All he cared about was what Noah had said. "Lauren is missing."

Fortunately, he could still maintain his composure and last bit of sanity, which kept him from running out unprepared.

"Who did it?" Quentin asked.

How could Lauren just disappear into thin air? Moreover, during the time Lauren was out of his sight, there hadn't been any news reports about recent car accidents or incidents.

So Lauren must have been taken.

Quentin couldn't think of any other reason.

"I'm still investigating. That bastard Gregory reassigned most of the people I could use. Now, only a few of my former subordinates are willing to help," Noah said, revealing an even worse situation. "Quentin, do you think it could be Gregory? Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that he just reassigned people and then I found out Lauren was missing?"

Quentin didn't speak. He had considered this possibility, but he had no reason to suspect Gregory right now.

Moreover, Gregory and he shared the same parents. If possible, he really didn't want to suspect his own brother.

Noah understood Quentin's silence. He held back what he wanted to say, reorganized his words, and then spoke, "What do you think we should do?"

This question carried a heavy weight, pressing on Quentin on the other end of the phone. He was still injured and couldn't even walk, but Quentin was the most reliable person Noah could think of.

After sorting out his thoughts, Quentin said to Noah, "Retrieve the surveillance footage from the hospital to the Robinson Family Villa, then narrow down the range, starting from the suburbs."

Anyone who dared to take Lauren was definitely not a simple person. Of course, it was also possible that someone was behind it.

For example, Wendy had once hired someone to kidnap Lauren.

Quentin added, "The sooner, the better."

This sentence fully displayed Quentin's worry and anger.

Quentin had always been high and mighty. He was arrogant but admirable. No one had ever been able to completely anger him, unless they crossed his bottom line—his family, friends, or his wife.

On the other end of the phone, Noah responded and then hung up. A complex emotion flashed in Quentin's eyes.

Lauren better be okay, or his anger would be unbearable for anyone.

In an abandoned factory in the suburbs of City A, Lauren was tied up and thrown on a bed. The bed had no mattress, making her body ache.

Lauren opened her eyes to see an old, dimly lit chandelier and smelled an indescribable stench.

It was hard to imagine what this factory used to process.

"You're awake?" A head suddenly appeared in Lauren's line of sight. Because of the backlight, Lauren couldn't immediately recognize who it was, but the voice sounded familiar.

"Who are you?" Lauren asked.

"What, you don't even remember me, Mrs. Robinson?" The person said the last words through gritted teeth.

"Odette!" Lauren was instantly alert. She hadn't forgotten how Odette had beaten her in the hospital.

"It looks like you remember." Odette sneered. Before Lauren could speak, she picked up a syringe and stabbed it into Lauren's arm, not caring if she hit the right spot. To her, whether Lauren lived or died didn't matter, though it would be better if Lauren died.

"What did you inject me with?" Lauren's voice trembled. She had seen drug addicts use syringes before, and now that she was in Odette's hands, there was no telling what Odette would do to her.

Unfortunately, Odette wasn't smart, and even more unfortunately, Lauren didn't know that.

"What, are you scared now?" Odette laughed, "Don't worry, this is some rare good stuff."

Odette's words made Lauren even more desperate.

She was almost certain that Odette had injected her with drugs!

"What do you want?" Lauren tried to stay calm because Quentin couldn't save her now. She had to find a way to escape before the drug took effect.

"Do you think you have the right to speak here?" Odette looked at Lauren as if she were the most insignificant piece of trash.

"I heard you won Quentin's heart through a one-night stand. I've always wanted to know if it's true, so..." Odette snapped her fingers. Lauren heard the sound of a rolling door being pulled down, followed by some chaotic footsteps.

"Odette, you'd better calm down," Lauren's intuition told her something was wrong.

"Calm down?" Odette found Lauren's words laughable. She wrinkled her delicate features, becoming hideously terrifying. In a cursed tone, she said, "As long as you're alive, I can't calm down!"

With that, she waved to the newcomers, who climbed onto Lauren's bed and, without waiting for Odette's orders, began tearing at Lauren's clothes.

Lauren gasped and rolled off the bed, the sudden contact with the ground making her see stars.

'Run!' Lauren's mind was filled with this thought. Her body felt something was wrong, a spark of desire igniting from deep within. She had to escape now.

She finally understood that Odette hadn't injected her with drugs but had given her some kind of aphrodisiac!

As she cursed Odette's cruelty, Lauren wriggled her body towards the door, forgetting that Odette was still there.

Odette stomped on Lauren's back, the force almost breaking her spine.

Lauren cried out in pain but didn't give up on escaping until one of the men dragged her back to the bed.

Lauren was utterly desperate. Odette blocked her path ahead, and enemies chased her from behind. It seemed she couldn't escape.

Would Quentin despise her for being tainted?

Lauren bitterly smiled. Even at this moment, she was still thinking about Quentin.

Quentin would never come to save her again. He had even abandoned the Robinson Conglomerate for her.

Was this her retribution for getting something she shouldn't have.?

Without Lauren, Quentin's life should have been bright, not lying in a hospital bed, unable to walk.
