Chapter 375 Conflict

"Of course not." Knowing that Matthew would say this because Gregory and Lauren shared the same last name, Gregory explained, "Your mommy and I just happen to both be named Walker. I'm actually a good friend of your mommy."

"Yeah." Matthew nodded and gave a sly smile, "You're my good friend too."

After playing the whole evening, Matthew fell asleep in Lauren's arms from exhaustion.

Seeing that it was getting late, Gregory took Matthew from Lauren's arms and carried him to his car.

Gregory drove Lauren to Quentin's house and got out to open the car door for her.

"Thank you," Lauren whispered to Gregory.

Gregory shook his head and smiled slightly, "It's no trouble at all. Besides, I had a great time playing with you guys today."

After saying goodbye to Gregory again, Lauren returned home, only to find Quentin sitting in the living room, his face flushed as he looked at her.

"Have you been drinking?" For some reason, the moment Lauren saw Quentin, she felt an inexplicable sense of guilt, as if she had been caught doing something wrong.

"Where did you go?" Quentin didn't answer Lauren's question but instead questioned her about her whereabouts today.

"Today is Matthew's birthday, so I took him out to play." Lauren walked into Matthew's room, tucked him in, and gently closed the door.

Just as she turned around, Lauren found Quentin standing right in front of her, their faces almost touching.

"Was it just the two of you?" Quentin had seen with his own eyes Gregory driving them back when he was standing by the window.

Quentin was holding back a lot of resentment at this moment, and it could easily explode.

"What about you? Where did you go today?" Faced with Quentin's relentless questioning, Lauren also became upset.

"I called you so many times, why didn't you answer any of them? And then your phone was off?" Lauren already had a suspicion in her heart, convinced that Quentin must have been with Odette.

"Answer my question first." Quentin tightened his grip on Lauren's hand.

Lauren's wrist turned red from the pressure, but she didn't cry out in pain. "And Gregory, he took Matthew and me..."

Before Lauren could finish, Quentin picked her up and carried her to the bedroom, throwing her onto the bed.

"Quentin, you..." Before Lauren could react, Quentin was already on top of her, forcibly removing her clothes.

"Let go of me!" Lauren didn't want Quentin to treat her like this. She struggled and shouted, holding herself tightly, but Quentin took the opportunity to kiss her.

Quentin sat up and wiped the corner of his mouth where Lauren had bitten him.

"What?" Quentin sneered, "After being with Gregory, have you become so fiery?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? Gregory and I are just friends." Lauren found it hard to believe that Quentin would slander her like this.

Even though Quentin was so ambiguous with Odette, she hadn't said anything harsh. She had just gone out with Gregory once, and he treated her like this.

Lauren didn't understand what was wrong with Quentin. He had become so unpredictable again.

"Suit yourself, I don't care." Quentin picked up the jacket thrown by the bed and stormed out without looking back.

Hearing the door slam shut, Lauren was startled by the loud noise and then became a bit dazed.

"Mommy." Matthew rubbed his sleepy eyes and slowly walked to Lauren's side, "Why is it so noisy?"

Lauren then remembered that because it was Matthew's birthday today, she had brought him back from Kimberly's.

"I'm sorry." Lauren felt a bit guilty for letting her bad mood affect Matthew.

"It's okay, Mommy." Matthew looked up and saw Lauren's red eyes, but he didn't see Quentin anywhere in the room.

"Mommy, where did Daddy go?" Matthew thought that if Quentin were here, Lauren would definitely feel better.

"He's still working at the office." Not wanting Matthew to know that she had argued with Quentin, Lauren had to lie to him.

Hearing Lauren say this, Matthew climbed into bed and lay down beside her.

"Mommy, don't be afraid. I'll stay with you." Matthew said, hugging Lauren's arm tightly.

Seeing how understanding and considerate Matthew was, Lauren felt extremely guilty, thinking it was her fault that Matthew hadn't enjoyed the love of both parents since he was little.

"Yeah, with Matthew here, Mommy isn't afraid of anything." Lauren lay down and gently hugged Matthew.

Even if not for herself, for Matthew's sake, Lauren had to try to make this relationship work. After all, the worst outcome would be enduring a few more years.

"Damn it." After leaving the house, Quentin sat in his car, thinking about the way Lauren smiled at Gregory, and his temper flared up again.

Not wanting to think about anything else, Quentin drove to Odette's house.

"What's wrong?" Odette saw Quentin staggering in, almost unable to stand, and quickly went over to support him.

"Have you been drinking?" Odette smelled the alcohol on him and frowned, "You're driving like this, aren't you afraid of getting into an accident?"

Quentin shook his head without saying a word.

Seeing that Quentin didn't respond, Odette helped him to the sofa and went to get him some water.

When Odette returned with a glass of water, she found that Quentin had already fallen asleep.

"It's only at times like this that you think of me." Odette knew that the only person who could make Quentin show such an expression was Lauren.

Recently, Quentin seemed to be in a very bad mood, and Odette guessed it might have something to do with Gregory.

Thinking this, Odette felt a pang of heartache. She was both jealous of Lauren's special place in Quentin's heart and angry that Lauren had hurt Quentin.

"If you don't cherish him, what right do you have to stay by Quentin's side?" Odette gritted her teeth and made a significant decision in her heart.

[Gregory, are you really not going to cooperate with me?] Without much hesitation, Odette sent out this text message.
