Chapter 420 Double Agent
As soon as Odette's baby was born, Quentin would get rid of Matthew!
Odette was certain of this.
Odette believed that she was the first to arrive, yet Lauren ended up as Mrs. Robinson. It was completely unfair.
"Not willing?"
Seeing Odette silent for a while, Quentin asked.
"Of course not!" Odette shouted urgently.
"Tonight at 8:40, North District, Route 28, Light Cinema," Quentin said, his mood slightly dampened by Odette's outburst. "Felix will pick you up at 8."
"Felix?" Odette frowned.
She had thought Quentin would pick her up himself. She had even planned to dress up nicely, only to find out Felix would be the first to see her.
"Yeah, he's been pretty free lately," Quentin said.
"But I'm supposed to be going out with you!" Odette said, agitated.
She couldn't accept this arrangement.
Why should her time with Quentin be interrupted by someone else?
Quentin frowned, annoyed by Odette's noise.
"If you don't want to go, have Felix return the tickets."
With Quentin's words, Odette backed down.
She only dared to speak loudly when Quentin was in a good mood. If he got upset, she had no choice but to comply.
"Quentin, don't be mad. I was wrong!" Odette got off the bed and walked to Quentin's side.
She didn't dare sit on his lap, so she sat next to him.
She affectionately held Quentin's arm and apologized cautiously.
"I just want to spend more time with you!"
Quentin glanced at Odette and said, "There will be plenty of time in the future. I need to go to the office now."
"Goodbye, Quentin!" Odette immediately let go of his arm.
After Quentin left, Odette received a call from Gregory.
"What's up?" Odette asked impatiently, forgetting their alliance and even looking down on Gregory.
With Quentin, the perfect CEO, by her side, other men seemed insignificant to Odette.
"It seems Ms. Foster has been completely charmed by Quentin," Gregory sighed.
"You're the delusional one, Gregory! I'm the future Mrs. Robinson!" Odette said.
"Watch your tone when you speak to me!"
"Sorry, Mrs. Robinson. I just wanted to remind you not to get lost in the dream Quentin has created. You and he are not on the same path. You can't beat him," Gregory laughed.
He was genuinely trying to warn Odette.
She was a foolish ally, and if she exposed him, it would be troublesome. So he had to eliminate the danger before it grew.
Gregory's good intentions were met with Odette's disdain. She rolled her eyes and replied impatiently, "Got it, got it."
Gregory wasn't stupid. He sensed Odette's impatience.
He wasn't angry or upset. He never expected Odette to listen to him.
So he made thorough preparations.
If necessary, he could shift all the blame to Odette and escape unscathed.
He didn't need a conscience. As long as he wasn't held responsible, he could do whatever he wanted.
The call ended with Odette's grumbling.
"Mr. Walker, Ms. Foster is quite noisy. Are you sure you want to work with her?" the housekeeper at Gregory's villa asked softly.
Gregory hadn't put the call on speaker, yet she could hear Odette's voice.
"Work with her?" Gregory repeated, a sinister smile forming on his lips. "It's just a facade."
Gregory would never trust anyone easily. He had long lost faith in the concept of trust.
The housekeeper was puzzled but didn't ask further.
She knew Gregory had his plans.
Although Quentin had sent her to monitor Gregory and find out Kimberly and Matthew's whereabouts, she hadn't planned to reveal her undercover identity so soon.
There was plenty of time.
As long as Gregory didn't intend to harm Kimberly and Matthew soon, she had ample time to extract information from him.
At the Robinson Family Villa, Lauren woke up from another nightmare, the same dream but more vivid than before.
Lauren looked at her hands and sighed deeply.
Quentin was her light, but she could never grasp it.
The aroma wafted into Lauren's nose. She followed the scent to see the food on the cart, glistening invitingly.
Lauren had no appetite, even though her stomach had growled multiple times.
"Miss Walker, are you awake?" the freckled maid entered.
"Yeah," Lauren nodded in response.
"I made breakfast. Would you like to come down and eat?" the freckled maid asked with a smile.
This time, she hadn't poisoned the food because she had seen the blonde maid secretly add dog food to Lauren's breakfast, the very food on the cart.
She could use this incident to her advantage.
"Aren't these breakfast?" Lauren pointed to the food on the cart.
Why make two breakfasts? Was there too much food?
The freckled maid feigned surprise, then looked around and whispered.
"Miss Walker, don't be mad. I happened to see a maid pour dog food into this earlier, so I quickly made a new batch."
"Dog food?" Lauren frowned.
She remembered overhearing the conversation between two maids on the balcony.
Was it Odette's doing? Or Quentin's?
"Yes, Mr. Robinson instructed us to take good care of you, yet someone did this! He would be furious if he knew!"
The maid put her hands on her hips, pretending to be angry.
Lauren was indifferent.
Since Quentin had locked her up, she was prepared to be treated like a prisoner.
Whether the maid's words were true or not, she could accept them.
But saying she could accept it calmly was a lie.
No one liked being treated this way.
"It's okay," Lauren forced a smile. "No need to tell Quentin."
He was busy with the wedding. How could he have time to care about Lauren?
Lauren didn't say this out loud.
