Chapter 137 Before the Great Battle

This time, Quentin wasn't swayed by Noah's advice. He agreed to hold a press conference and even attend it, but he would under no circumstances allow Lauren to appear there.

He had always been concerned for Lauren's safety, and now, with the incident involving the package, it was even more impossible for him to expose Lauren to the public again.

Lauren walked up to Quentin and said earnestly, "Quentin, I must go. This matter started because of me, so I should be the one to resolve it."

"Don't say anymore. I won't agree. You know how crazy Wendy's fans can be. I can't risk you and the baby," Quentin replied firmly, leaving no room for negotiation.

While touched by his concern, Lauren didn't want to be a coward. She needed to stand up.

"Quentin, you just said that we are organizing this press conference, so we get to decide who attends. We can exclude any suspicious individuals and only let in legitimate reporters. Plus, you'll be there. I'll be safe." Lauren tried to persuade Quentin.

Noah quickly added, "Lauren is right. I will thoroughly vet everyone entering this time. No one will be able to harm Lauren. Quentin, we have no other options but this."

Quentin turned to look at them with a stern expression. "I don't care what those people outside say. I want to protect the ones I care about."

"But I care. Quentin, I don't want our child to be a laughingstock from the moment he's born, nor do I want him to think his mother is a disgrace. I want to set an example. I want him to see me as a strong person," Lauren argued anxiously, tears streaming down her face.

If this matter couldn't be resolved properly, their child would undoubtedly become the subject of gossip after birth.

Lauren couldn't accept that. She could endure any hardship, but she wanted her child to grow up in a positive and sunny environment.

Standing nearby, Jessica was very worried. She was concerned for Lauren's safety and also troubled by what Lauren had said.

"Quentin, I think there's room for discussion here. As Noah said, your concern is Lauren's safety. As long as you ensure her safety, the press conference should be fine," Jessica said.

Everyone's words indeed made Quentin waver. He knew that having Lauren attend the press conference was the most direct and effective way to solve the problem.

However, with deep concern, Quentin couldn't immediately convince himself to let Lauren face danger again for his sake.

Seeing Quentin's hesitation, Lauren looked him straight. "Quentin, please agree. I believe in you. As long as you're there, I'll be safe. Trust me to handle this, okay?"

When Quentin saw his reflection in Lauren's eyes, his heart softened completely. He naturally trusted her.

"Quentin, stop being so hesitant. Look at how determined Lauren is. You can't be a coward," Noah added, fanning the flames.

Finally, Lauren and her team succeeded. Quentin decided to give Lauren a chance to clear her name. He also wanted her to be happy and carefree. If this matter weren't resolved, none of them would be able to live happily.

"Fine, I agree. But during the press conference, you must listen to me. When I tell you to leave, you must leave," Quentin instructed.

"Get it!" Lauren happily patted Quentin's hand.

"Alright, stop flirting. Let's discuss the press conference first. Grandma Robinson, I'm sorry, but I need to borrow them for a while. Is that okay?" Noah smiled, knowing how hard it was to get Quentin to change his mind.

Jessica nodded in agreement. "You all go ahead. Don't forget to eat."

They left the hospital room and went to the adjacent room to discuss matters.

Wendy's trial was set for the day after tomorrow. To resolve the issue quickly, they decided to hold the press conference at 3 pm that day. The sooner they resolved the matter, the sooner they could relax.

"Noah, make sure you thoroughly screen the reporters for the press conference. I don't want Lauren to be frightened again," Quentin repeatedly reminded him.

Lauren was seven months pregnant, enduring physical pain while worrying about these matters. Quentin felt deeply for her.

Noah's usual playful smile disappeared, and he looked seriously at Lauren and Quentin. "Quentin, Lauren, don't worry. Besides the journalists, I won't let even a fly into the venue."

Lauren wasn't used to seeing Noah so serious. "Alright, let's all cheer for the press conference the day after tomorrow!"

Lauren exclaimed excitedly, extending her hand for a cheer, but the two men looked at her as if she were crazy.

'Well, it seemed Quentin and Noah aren't used to this kind of cheer.' Lauren awkwardly touched her nose.

Seeing her awkward look, Quentin grabbed Lauren's hand and glanced at Noah. "Come on!"

Noah waved his hand, saying, "No way, that's too childish!"

Quentin's eyes immediately turned fierce. "Stop whining."

"Putting love before friendship," Noah muttered under his breath. Reluctantly, he extended his hand and placed it on theirs.

Lauren laughed. "Go, go, go!" they shouted together.

Afterward, Noah and Quentin went their separate ways to prepare for the press conference.

In the blink of an eye, it was the afternoon of Wendy's trial conclusion. The press conference was about to begin. Some ill-intentioned people tried to sneak into the venue but were stopped by the security guards outside.

Lauren waited backstage for the press conference to start. She was very nervous, unsure if she could answer the journalists' questions.

Quentin walked over, saying, "How are you feeling? Are you nervous?"

Lauren didn't lie, "Yes, a little."

"Don't be nervous. I'm here." Quentin held Lauren's hand, not intending to let go.

"Quentin, do you believe I can resolve this matter?" Lauren, feeling shy, tried to change the subject.

"I believe in you." Quentin's gaze never left Lauren. His eyes were so intense that the shivering Lauren felt a bit warm.

"I won't let you down," Lauren replied.

They smiled and looked into each other's eyes. At that moment, without saying anything more, they understood each other perfectly.

It was true what they said. Two hearts beat as one.
