Chapter 408 Odette's Fate

Just as Lauren had anticipated, Quentin stopped dead in his tracks.

Even though the drug made his mind a bit foggy, he still caught the key words.

Quentin's eyebrows furrowed deeply, feeling as if his consciousness was being scorched by two raging fires—anger and desire.

These two fires were driving him to the brink of madness.

He had originally wanted Lauren to help extinguish the flames, but Lauren had just added more fuel to the fire.

"You're pregnant with Gregory's kid?"

Quentin's voice sent a chill down Lauren's spine. Her lips trembled, unsure if it was from sadness or fear.

Lauren tried to keep her voice steady. Since she had started this lie, she had to bear the consequences.

"Yeah, I'm carrying his child."

Lauren expected Quentin to angrily tell her to get lost or to possess her even more roughly than before.

But Quentin didn't.

Quentin laughed, a sharp sound that pierced Lauren's heart and made her uneasy.

"Lauren, you're something else," Quentin said, his voice filled with disbelief.

He then put on his clothes. The drug was still affecting him, but he had no antidote.

He could tolerate a Lauren who had been touched by someone else, but he could never accept a Lauren who willingly carried another man's child.

He had no use for someone unfaithful.

"Quentin." Lauren was bewildered.

Quentin's reaction was not what she had expected, leaving her at a loss.

Hearing Lauren's voice, Quentin turned his gaze to her, his eyes filled with emotions she couldn't decipher—anger, confusion, and desire all mixed together.

Quentin's lips moved, and he uttered words that chilled her to the bone.

"Don't call my name. Disgusting."

Lauren's pupils contracted. Did Quentin just say disgusting?

When had Quentin ever despised her like this?

For a moment, humiliation and resentment filled Lauren's heart.

She wanted to explain to Quentin, but after thinking it over, she decided it wasn't necessary.

Lauren watched Quentin leave, her head bowed, tears welling up in her eyes but not falling.

Lauren couldn't cry.

Quentin felt like he was losing his mind.

The drug's effects were rampant. He left Lauren and didn't want to find anyone else for relief, so he decided to soak in a cold bath.

The early autumn water wasn't as bone-chilling as winter's, but it was enough to clear his head.

By the time he was clear-headed, it was already midnight.

Once sober, Quentin felt something was off.

Gregory had indeed said he slept with Lauren, but that was not long ago.

Lauren had just claimed she was pregnant with Gregory's child, which meant she already knew the pregnancy test results, or at least had pregnancy symptoms.

But pregnancy symptoms couldn't appear so quickly, so Lauren was lying.

However, Quentin didn't understand why Lauren would lie.

Was it because she didn't want to be touched by anyone other than Gregory?

The thought crossed Quentin's mind, but he quickly dismissed it.

He didn't want to believe it was because of that.

So Quentin decided to ask Lauren directly, but first, he had to take care of something.

He called Noah.

"Hello, who is this?"

The phone rang for a long time before Noah answered, sounding annoyed.

"It's me," Quentin replied simply, knowing Noah was in a bad mood from being disturbed.

"Quentin?" Noah's impatience halved upon realizing it was Quentin.

Noah knew Quentin wouldn't call him late at night unless it was urgent.

"What's up?" Noah asked, his voice not too low, indicating Sophia wasn't with him.

"Have someone follow Odette, drug her, and dump her on 64th Street," Quentin said.

He had initially planned to let Odette off the hook out of old friendship, but now she had gone too far by drugging him. He needed to make Odette understand what she could and couldn't do.

"Seriously? Quentin, have you always been this ruthless? 64th Street is notorious for its thugs in City A," Noah reminded Quentin, not knowing what had happened.

After all, in his eyes, Odette was no longer the innocent girl she once was, but he couldn't bring himself to throw her into a den of thugs.

"I know," Quentin replied. He understood Noah's thoughts, so he added, "Odette drugged me."

"I see." Noah felt his breath catch. He decided not to speak for Odette anymore.

Quentin had already been very lenient with Odette, and since she dared to drug Quentin, she had to be prepared for his retaliation.

Odette was thrilled when she received a text from Quentin asking her to meet. But when she arrived, all dolled up, Quentin was nowhere to be seen.

Just as she was about to call him, someone covered her mouth with a cloth. Odette tried to scream but gradually lost consciousness.

Odette never saw Quentin before she passed out. She had no idea what was coming or why Quentin didn't show up.

Odette woke up in pain, with a man injecting her with something.

She didn't know what it was, but her instincts told her it was bad news. She was tied up on a bed.

"Who are you?" Odette snarled, her expression twisted in a way that was far from her once sweet demeanor.

"None of your business."

The man spoke in a low voice, wearing a mask that hid his face.

To prevent more questions, he added, "Just remember you crossed the wrong person and did the wrong thing."

"Crossed the wrong person?"

Odette frowned, thinking for a moment before settling on someone in her mind.

"It's Lauren, isn't it? She used Quentin's phone to lure me out, didn't she?"

The man didn't answer.

Odette began to curse, "That damn Lauren! She couldn't keep Quentin's heart, so she had someone drug me! Shameless!"

Her hatred for Lauren grew.

"Enough?"

The man cut her off impatiently. He was only there to drug Odette and dump her on 64th Street.

Noah's instructions didn't include listening to Odette's rants.
