Chapter 334 Their Own Thoughts
This was Noah's first suggestion since he became the chairman, and anyone with half a brain knew now wasn't the time to start arguing.
"So, Quentin, what do you think?" Noah asked, his smile now cold and empty.
Seeing Noah and Quentin at odds made a few people chuckle.
"I get that you're attached to this company. After all these years, anyone would be," Noah sighed, pretending to understand Quentin and showing some fake concern.
It looked like Quentin was finally about to speak. He hadn't said a word since the meeting started, and everyone was on the edge of their seats, eager to see his response as Quentin had always been so indifferent at the company, never showing any emotion beyond that cold exterior.
"Alright," Quentin said calmly. "This idea is actually good. I accept it. It's a good chance to understand the daily work of the lower-level employees."
It was clearly a demotion, but Quentin made it sound so normal.
The troublemakers in the room couldn't resist the chance to humiliate Quentin, so they jumped in.
"Quentin's got a way with words, making a demotion sound so nice."
Quentin knew these people would cause trouble. He was all too familiar with these parasites in the company.
He paused and then continued, "Some people can start from scratch and build a successful company, while others may start off strong but then get stuck, making no progress."
As Quentin spoke, he straightened his clothes. "I'm the former. As for you all..."
He didn't finish, but his meaning was crystal clear.
One of the shareholders couldn't keep quiet and stood up to retort, "I've always disliked you. I thought you'd be more humble after losing power, but instead, you've become even more arrogant. If your father knew that you turned Robinson Conglomerate into this, would he be at peace?"
"What right do you have to criticize me?" Quentin shot back, scoffing.
It was just a short sentence, but Quentin's gaze and aura left the shareholder speechless.
Quentin couldn't stand these shareholders who, relying on their seniority, would bring up his elders to threaten him.
"If it weren't for your constant obstruction whenever I proposed suggestions, Robinson Conglomerate would be several times better than it is now," Quentin mocked, leaving the room in silence.
What Quentin said was true. Even though these people knew his proposals were solid, they always made things difficult for him because they couldn't stand his arrogance, causing delays in implementation.
Noah didn't say a word. The few people below couldn't keep their cool and kept ripping into Quentin, which Noah found kinda funny.
So, Noah just picked up his coffee, leaned back in his chair, and listened quietly, like he was watching a show.
He took a sip, and when he realized the coffee had gone cold, he figured it was time to wrap this up.
"Alright." Noah cleared his throat and said, "Since no one has any objections, this meeting is adjourned."
Upon hearing Noah's words, the directors, even if they had more to say, fell silent.
With that, Noah stood up and walked out.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw Lauren leaning against it, trying to eavesdrop.
Noah found Lauren somewhat amusing. This conference room was designed for internal company discussions, so it was soundproof.
After listening for a while and hearing nothing, she should've realized the door was soundproof. Yet Lauren kept leaning against it until the meeting ended.
Lauren was startled by the door opening suddenly and almost lost her balance, nearly falling onto Noah.
She glanced at Noah and immediately took a few steps back.
It was because of Noah, Quentin's so-called old friend, that Quentin ended up in this mess. Just thinking about it made Lauren feel hostile towards Noah.
"Quentin's out. If you wanna know what we talked about, why don't you just ask him?" Noah said with a mischievous smile.
Seeing Noah like this, Lauren was momentarily dazed.
Noah seemed exactly the same as before. Although he was a bit playful, his heart didn't seem bad.
"None of your business," Lauren snapped at Noah, reminding herself of the reality.
Noah was the one who took Robinson Conglomerate!
After saying that, Lauren saw Quentin coming out and immediately ran to his side, holding his hand tightly.
Lauren swore to Quentin with deep affection, "Even if the whole world betrays you, even if you have nothing, I will never leave you."
Seeing that, the onlookers quickly scattered.
It wasn't until they completely disappeared from Lauren's sight that she let go of Quentin's hand, turning away, not daring to look at him.
Lauren had done this to help Quentin save face.
Quentin wasn't left with nothing; he still had her by his side.
"Lauren, did you mean what you just said?" Quentin's focus was different from what Lauren had expected, and he directly asked her this question.
Hearing Quentin's question, Lauren was momentarily speechless.
"I..." Lauren didn't know how to describe her feelings at that moment, nor did she know if she should reveal her true feelings to him.
Lauren was genuinely afraid that Quentin might leave her again, and she never wanted to experience that again in her life.
